Do you think Harbaugh will actually run the score up?

I mean blatantly. Like going for two when not needed running it up. I really hope so. If he did this, could anyone else see Mork taking a swing or chest bumping Harbaugh after the game? I think he would cause he knows he’s done anyways. How would Harbaugh realistically respond? I think he’d laugh and run off. In a real fight we all know what the outcome would be.

Just give us a win with no injuries. F-k running the score up if it means risking the health of starters or others who routinely get major playing time. If the 2nd/3rd stringers can run the score up, so be it.

Regardless, I don't see what would lead anyone to think we'll be in position to run the score up. Our offense remains inconsistent and not as productive as the talent on the field would indicate. And Sparty isn't going to lay down so easily in their biggest game of the season by far. We dominated the game last year and mustered only 21 points.

This may very well become a much closer game than you think tbh. Illinois couldn’t really stop MSU for big stretches of that game or do much on offense. They scored on chunk plays primarily which of course we cant do reliably at all.

MSU with Lewerke can do some damage and their D can match up well against an inconsistent run-first offense like ours. Id be very positively surprised if this turned into a blowout win for us.

Michigan Defense >> Illinois Defense.  Lewerke is dangerous, but I have a feeling Don Brown has that covered in the game prep.  A blowout win to the tune of 4 or 5 scores seems unlikely, but I can see us winning comfortably by 14-17 points.  I Michigan doesn't turn the ball over, we win this game comfortably; but we've shown an annoying habit for turning the ball over to MSU in the Harbaugh era, so I will harbor some caution with my optimism.

Cannot believe people haven't learned from past years. This is far from a mismatch esp with this garbage offense that is far from being explosive.

Michigan State actually decent team using all analytics sites and I agree as well numbers I put together. Might not be some walk over game.

This team is not built to run up the scores on anyone.  The offense doesn't have the capability of doing it.  The coaching staff doesn't have the mentality to do that.

This is why we complain every year about the lack of back-ups, particiularly at QB, getting valuable playing time. This is why McCaffery is such an unknown in year three.

Yes.  And I really hope he does.

MSU loved when they had the upper hand and were inflicting as much pain on UM as possible from 08-14.

Time to put Mork and MSU back in their place.

It would be nice to run up the score BUT it's a rivalry game and anything can happen.  We haven't won at home against them since 2012.  I just want a victory.

"don't get cocky kid"

Harbaugh nailed in his recent presser, Mark D. is a great motivator - and MSU will look at this game (as they usually do) as THEIR "bowl game" - though MSU still has Rutgers and Maryland left on their schedule, so they'll get to six wins.

weather, cold and other intangibles... MSU will not be a push-over

I really hope so. I hope this will be like Tressel’s last game vs. Rich Rod. Just completely annihilate the opponent on his way out of being the coach next season.

Not in the way you suggest.  Ohio State would.  Harbaugh will play through the fourth quarter whatever the lead, and if we are fortunate enough to have a big lead, it will be the reserves running the offense and staffing the defense.  Kind of like the ND game.

We talk about running up the score and then I smile thinking about it, but then its replaced with an image of Patterson somehow struggling....dammit... we need to throttle them once and for all, to get the Earth back on its axis.

Seems like we are ahead ourselves here. Hopefully the players are laser focused.  First come out strong ... and then maybe. Still feel the spread is about  right with potential for a big tilt to the good guys.

Can we please stop tempting the sports gods to smite us for our hubris?!

Dear sports gods, please know that I take nothing for granted with regard to MSU and that I will sacrifice both an apple and a cookie tonight on your behalf.

I continue to believe this is going to be an annoying game to watch where MSU hangs around and it's way too stressful.  I predict UM wins but not to the degree that Harbaugh would mess around too much.

I am more worried about winning than running up the score.  Just because State is doing terrible doesn't mean they won't be up for this.  They have overachieved against us for decades.  I was a student when unranked MSU beat us when we were ranked #1 in 1990.  We were big favorites two years ago as well.

I hope we are in a position to win big.  Go Blue!
