Frankly I kinda do hate the guy.

Not hate, that's a really strong word.

Maybe have a significant amount of disdain for, would be a better way of putting it.

To me he just epitomizes the mediocrity of the Hoke era. The "wins are just stats" comment really ratcheted that up about ten notches for me.

I honestly just wish we'd stop talking about him so much. It's like every time the kid farts someone posts a new thread about it.

He ran a 4.7. So what. Let's move on.

Let's all POOP on Funchess! Because we don't give a SH*T whether he came and played for our school, don't know CRAP about what circumstances he faced in his personal life or on the gridiron, but just feel entitled--as internet weenies massed at our keyboards--to DEFECATE on a kid who played for Michigan through one of the worst stretches in its history.

You puny-peckered mofos should be ashamed of yourselves.

at its anonymous and pathetic worst. Dumping on whatever public figure we've decided it's okay to hate on today while we keep the cheap porn tabs open and eat cold pizza. Not a lick of self-consciousness about what lemmings they are between 300 posters, yesterday or today.

Jimmy Graham, the prototpye everyone overrating Funchess expects him to resemble, runs a 4.53.  I thought Funchess should have stayed, but it's the same thing as Caris LeVert.  Some "experts" overestimate his draft position according to potential and it's just good enough that they have to leave.

I really thought Funchess should have been downgraded after this season's performance, but the coaching was so bad that it was impossible to tell who was playing badly and who was being victimized by the most predictable offense in college football.

If a football or basketball player is a bona fide middle or better first round draft pick, he really has to go under the current system or risk losing a lot of money.  The problem is that the rating services couldn't do a better job of screwing at least one Michigan underclassman ever year if they were trying to do it on purpose.

I agree. If Harbaugh gets the run game rolling Funchess could've been a monster off play-action this next season. I think he made a hasty decision and would've been much better off staying for this season.

Please don't compare Funchess to LeVert. Levert was the second best player on a Big Ten championship squad and helped win a FF game as a freshmen. He played thru the end of last season on a hurt foot and produced. He was the only consistent piece this year until he gets hurt. By comparison,  Funchess was the epitome of the Hoke era in underacheiving.

If I am understanding your sarcasm correctly, I couldn't agree more. I think the kid is loaded with talent. But the intangibles are really what lose me on him.

If you go back and watch the games, when evaluating Funchess, dont watch for things that go right.. Watch how he reacts to the things that go wrong.. He is almost always hurt, or pointing a finger to blame something or someone..

I wish the best for him, but yeah.. If I was a GM.. I would probably be staying away from him in the first round at least.

I vaguely remember him being compared to Megatron in preseason. Those comparisons were based on his 40 time being sub 4.4. I sadly bought into the hype (not thinking he'd actually be Megatron) and thought he'd have a great year. He turned out to be used a lot on slants where he all too often would drop the ball. His give-a-shit level of desire to win turned out to be pretty low. Maybe with some good coaching he can find a utility role in the NFL.
