Dante Moore in portal.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:28 PM ^
If that were the case, why didnt he go to Oregon?
November 30th, 2023 at 4:36 PM ^
Bo Nix stayed an extra year and Dillingham went to Arizona St.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:42 PM ^
Maybe he ends up at MSU.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:01 PM ^
Don't even think about it.
November 30th, 2023 at 6:57 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:29 AM ^
I had that same thought. Jonathan Smith is a former QB and did a nice job last year getting far more out of DJU than he had shown at Clemson. And Moore would be basically guaranteed the starting job, since literally everyone else has left. But on the downside, they have a bad line and no WRs, so it could be a rough transition.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:42 PM ^
Should never have started as a freshman. I watched a couple of games and he looked overwhelmed and confused any time he dropped back. Athleticism and talent were obvious, but everything else was years away. He should have had the JJ freshman season. A few packages and mop up duty.
The culture fit is a valid question on this one. Not sure if JH and staff would want him running the offense, but they know him personally much better than any of us.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:45 PM ^
It's a shame because had he come to Michigan he would have had this season to sit and learn from one of the best college quarterbacks and best quarterbacks coaches.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^
Devin Gardner worked with him extensively, and was pretty strong about how he thought Moore was the best high school QB in the country last year. I also heard somewhere that he was keen on starting as a freshman, hence Oregon to UCLA. Sounds like he’s been humbled. If I was on staff I’d have Devin talk to him to see where his head is at.
November 30th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
I’m sure Devin’s already do that, the question is whether or not there’s room.
November 30th, 2023 at 10:00 PM ^
Devin believes he knows better than the coaching staff at Michigan. That’s a big reason why Dante thought he’d be lights out as a starter as a freshman in D-1. I don’t think I’d be talking to Devin about this recruitment if I was Michigan.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:44 PM ^
Hope he goes to LSU so Bryce can come to Michigan ..
November 30th, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
LosAngeles2Lousiana. I like it. Could help us.
November 30th, 2023 at 5:38 PM ^
LA to LA.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
Can’t blame these young men for following the money during their initial recruitment, but now reading that he wants to go to a place where he “can be developed” makes you wonder why nobody advises these QBs to consider this when initially making their decision. We’ll see where he ends up though.
Side note, I know a lot of us were complaining about Michigan NIL not paying up front for high school recruits, but the sheer number of transfers makes you realize they knew what they were doing. Don’t think these big time boosters at other schools are going to continue giving out hundreds of thousands if not millions to then see that player transfer. But paying your existing players is why Corum, Keegan, Zinter, CJ came back this year, and we saw the dividends. Go Blue!

My initial reaction to all of this was along these lines. A lot of the people cutting these checks make their money in business. After a couple of freshman leave the year after they cut the check, how long until most of them say, "what am I getting out of this?"
November 30th, 2023 at 3:57 PM ^
On the flip side, a lot of people aren't cutting the checks after promising a recruit. Or at least the check is a lot lighter than they expected. Michigan is behind on the NIL stuff, but no one's going to claim they've wasted any money, or lied to kids, like a lot of schools have.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:57 PM ^
Yeah, 17 year old me would totally have listened to old geezers tell me how I shouldn't take the cash.
Maybe he learned something in the last year, who knows.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:05 PM ^
I would guess that a lot of recruits learn that the earning "potential" promised by programs isn't real or doesn't keep coming if you don't play + win.
November 30th, 2023 at 6:45 PM ^
I think Jim's approach is genius. Let the freshman prove themselves at their respective community colleges. Enough will hit the portal after demonstrating their worth. Then go ahead and spend the $NIL on proven commodities/contributors.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
Good player who just wasn't quite ready for the big show and there is nothing wrong with that as a freshmen. I'd love to have him at Michigan but I'd honestly be more worried about MSU. Still a "hometown" school with a new coach who will be preaching turning things around and more playing time. I do really think JJ may be back and combine that with JD and space is thin!
November 30th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
Nah. Uiagalelei is in the portal, most likely following his coach to MSU.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:07 PM ^
Where are you getting "most likely " from? The chatter out there is the opposite.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:20 PM ^
Just a gut feeling based on past examples of similar happenings is all. If he does the opposite, also cool.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
I think the pressure to open the wallet for him at MSU is gonna be overwhelming.
and if they’re not outbid, it seems a comfortable destination where he wouldn’t have any competition.
November 30th, 2023 at 5:08 PM ^
I thought he was looking for development, not NIL.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:46 PM ^
$1.5M per year?
November 30th, 2023 at 3:46 PM ^
You can rent this dude like it's blockbuster. He'll be in the portal next year too.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
You can only enter the portal once in a four year career without penalty, unless your coach leaves of you are a graduate student.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:01 PM ^
Ah I see!
November 30th, 2023 at 3:48 PM ^
The game looked way too fast for him this year. He should be a solid QB in a couple years though. He has the athleticism and arm talent if his head can catch up.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:49 PM ^
Wonder if he decides to try Oregon again after seeing what Nix did
November 30th, 2023 at 3:59 PM ^
Do you suppose he and Oregon had this worked out all along? Like "Hey man, Bo's coming back, I know it's disappointing and we didn't expect it either, but go get your bag somewhere you can play for a year, we'll earmark the future money, you come back after a year and we'll roll." What a sport!
November 30th, 2023 at 4:25 PM ^
Why not..probably not illegal and he gets a double NIL deal
November 30th, 2023 at 4:29 PM ^
Nix is like 25 tho.
November 30th, 2023 at 10:48 PM ^
He's 23, but it feels like he's almost 30.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:49 PM ^
He wasn't very good this year. There are better options for us.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:52 PM ^
He was a true freshman.
Who are the better options you speak of?
November 30th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
Steven Threat, Nick Sheridan, ......
November 30th, 2023 at 4:00 PM ^
put some respek on Steven Threet's name
November 30th, 2023 at 6:44 PM ^
Where’s the Threat?
November 30th, 2023 at 6:47 PM ^
Justin Feagan's been mentioned around here a lot.
December 1st, 2023 at 12:51 AM ^
Those were dark days...
November 30th, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
I wish everyone would quit looking at how many stars a guy has, and look at film and stats yourself. Please look at his game log of Pac Ten opponents. And remember, the Pac Ten plays no defense. Then imagine what he would do against OSU, PSU and Iowa defenses.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
He was a true freshman.
Look at who UM has coming back if JJ leaves and then look at Moore. I am going with Moore.
November 30th, 2023 at 3:57 PM ^
I am looking at Moore. Ill take Orji with Edwards RPO (running 50 times) over Moore any and every day. Moore is an inaccurate turnover machine. Jadyn Davis comes in more polished than Moore.
November 30th, 2023 at 4:00 PM ^
Hell no.
November 30th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Legit question, have we seen Orji even attempt a throw? I haven't, but maybe I missed one.
