I had that same thought. Jonathan Smith is a former QB and did a nice job last year getting far more out of DJU than he had shown at Clemson. And Moore would be basically guaranteed the starting job, since literally everyone else has left. But on the downside, they have a bad line and no WRs, so it could be a rough transition.

Should never have started as a freshman. I watched a couple of games and he looked overwhelmed and confused any time he dropped back. Athleticism and talent were obvious, but everything else was years away. He should have had the JJ freshman season. A few packages and mop up duty.

The culture fit is a valid question on this one. Not sure if JH and staff would want him running the offense, but they know him personally much better than any of us.

Devin Gardner worked with him extensively, and was pretty strong about how he thought Moore was the best high school QB in the country last year. I also heard somewhere that he was keen on starting as a freshman, hence Oregon to UCLA. Sounds like he’s been humbled. If I was on staff I’d have Devin talk to him to see where his head is at.

Can’t blame these young men for following the money during their initial recruitment, but now reading that he wants to go to a place where he “can be developed” makes you wonder why nobody advises these QBs to consider this when initially making their decision. We’ll see where he ends up though.

Side note, I know a lot of us were complaining about Michigan NIL not paying up front for high school recruits, but the sheer number of transfers makes you realize they knew what they were doing. Don’t think these big time boosters at other schools are going to continue giving out hundreds of thousands if not millions to then see that player transfer. But paying your existing players is why Corum, Keegan, Zinter, CJ came back this year, and we saw the dividends. Go Blue!

On the flip side, a lot of people aren't cutting the checks after promising a recruit. Or at least the check is a lot lighter than they expected. Michigan is behind on the NIL stuff, but no one's going to claim they've wasted any money, or lied to kids, like a lot of schools have.

Good player who just wasn't quite ready for the big show and there is nothing wrong with that as a freshmen. I'd love to have him at Michigan but I'd honestly be more worried about MSU. Still a "hometown" school with a new coach who will be preaching turning things around and more playing time. I do really think JJ may be back and combine that with JD and space is thin!

The game looked way too fast for him this year. He should be a solid QB in a couple years though. He has the athleticism and arm talent if his head can catch up.

Do you suppose he and Oregon had this worked out all along? Like "Hey man, Bo's coming back, I know it's disappointing and we didn't expect it either, but go get your bag somewhere you can play for a year, we'll earmark the future money, you come back after a year and we'll roll." What a sport!

I wish everyone would quit looking at how many stars a guy has, and look at film and stats yourself.  Please look at his game log of Pac Ten opponents.  And remember, the Pac Ten plays no defense.  Then imagine what he would do against OSU, PSU and Iowa defenses.
