I felt disappointment...

for the team, for Ronnie, for the university and for us fans. The better team that night lost, it happens sometimes.

I also felt disappointed by every shit call that went against us in the first half, and every other dropped pass by our receivers in the game.

Bell's drop occurred at the wrong place and time in the game...that's all.

Not once did I think we should forsake, tar and feather an 18 year old for missing one play in a game.

Overall it was heartbreaking to see him crying on the sidelines, and heartbreaking to see a shit fan / shitty fans behave this way towards a young man that works his ass off for our team.

So no, the Connor Grady's of the world can go fuck themselves....I'm glad he learned a lesson to which there will be no consequences.

My thoughts exactly. Ronnie works his ass off week in week out so I can sit on mine drinking beer and stuffing my face.  I'm more of a 'defend our own' than sitting up here lecturing each other on not being mean to Mr. Grady.

To hell with Notre Dame and dickweeds like this Grady fellow.

Sorry man, maybe I'm just a puss but when I saw those tears of disappointment from Bell on the sidelines, fuck anyone who attacks him.  For real.

Glad to see his apology. I really don't care what he thought about Ronnie Bell, what Grady did was wrong. While I have no way of knowing how heartfelt this apology was, at the very least, he owns up that what he did was unacceptable under any circumstances, and stated clearly that he was sorry. Good to see. Hope this young man does ok going forward. As many others have said, we all make mistakes. Hopefully we learn from them.

Calling out a player on the field in an angry manner is ridiculous. In the heat of the moment people make stupid decisions. Ronnie bell did not lose us this game. Even with that td that only ties it. Penn state still had time to drive down and score or win in OT

Even the best receivers drop a ball here and there.  Bell just dropped his at the worst possible time.

It happens and it's a bummer.  But anyone who doesn't know he has been great all season has not really been watching our games.

ehh, this feels like the type of apology you see after you get caught doing something dumb, or after realizing how dumb this made you look. It does not feel like an apology because you are sincerely sorry. Good on him a little I guess, but that's about as much credit as I'll give him.

He should have never said what he said. I think he realizes it, apologized publicly and privately.

I think it’s a good thing he apologized and hopefully learned his lesson. I’ve said shitty things about Shae in the blogs here and looking back it was the wrong thing to do. Onward to Notre Dame.

He didn't just type "Ronnie Bell Sucks!"  He had a long drawn out post filled with hate because he was throwing a temper tantrum in his apartment and which he had plenty of time to think about before posting.  To hell with those like him in this day and age.

He is apologizing only because he was made a fool of.

he can fuck off.  Ronnie Bell did not deserve that.  That’s the sort of crap that Sparty “fans” do.  Not us.

I wish your comment was true. People say horrible things about players on this Blog all the time and there is very rarely any type of sanction whatsoever by the powers that be.  It would be nice if calling out players-which used to be prohibited-was policed and banned around here.

I am a "don't trust and will verify" guy.  Does anyone have a link to the public apology to the Bell family?  Prove it or it did not happen.

I'm also not an instant forgiveness guy.  One 24 hour news cycle does not create absolution.  I would like to see some signs of atonement before granting forgiveness.

I don't know an adult could rip a kid who gives his all every game. I love watching that kid play and my heart ached for him watching the tears flow. These kids give their blood, sweat and tears all year for our enjoyment during the fall. Lets try and keep this in mind. I want them to succeed as much as anyone and truly believe we are on the right path. Go Blue!

And let's not forget that THEY want to succeed more than anyone here commenting, well, besides Mineral King :). This is a large part of their jobs right now.  They have goals.  They're the ones putting in the work outs, sweating, getting injured, hearing the boos when things don't go well, all while balancing with school.  It's fuckin' hard, man.

When fans start criticizing a WR for dropping a wide open game tying touchdown pass, that is when it becomes crystal clear that the fabric of what our university stands for has been torn to shreds into anarchy resembling a circus without elephants.  The notion that fans feel empowered to PUBLICLY criticize a bad play by a player demonstrates a reckless  willingness to transform the first amendment into a free for all where individuals feel empowered to speak their minds.

Connor’s comments were no doubt made in the heat of the moment. As an absolute rabid M fan since the early 70’s, I understand. Mix in a little alcohol ... I can see why it happens. I was screaming all night myself. I give him kudos for manning up & apologizing publicly.

Carry on Connor & Go Blue!

If you make the type of very public comments he did after seeing Ronnie Bell in tears on the sideline, I have to classify you as sub-human.  Pretty shitty.

That said, I appreciate the apology.  It sounded sincere and he is trying to make amends and be forgiven.  I'm OK with the dude but just don't be a douche bag again.

read similar here Saturday night.

The kid was probably wasted as JH stated, no need for a parent to get that worked up.

Good for Connor. Doesn't excuse the cowardly act of emailing a player who worked his ass off and sold out for his team, only to come up just short on the game's biggest play, and then get kicked in the nuts while he's on the ground by a "fan"  that has never gone through one second of college football training and conditioning.

I am serious when I say though, that making the apology was the right thing to do. Doesn't excuse the behavior, but at least he may learn that if you find yourself contemplating saying or sending vitriol to someone that in no way deserves it, best to just step away and re-prioritize your thoughts until you clear your mind.

Lots of whinning on this site and some other blogs I follow (or did).   Not sure which is worse -- listening to OSU fans go on about how awesome their team is or Michigan fans whine how bad our favorite is.  Quite frankly I'm sick of both.

I agree with several people who have commented how far Michigan had fallen during the RR Hoke and the end of Carr years.  (I liked Coach Carr but his recruiting was not great his last couple of years).  I havent been happy this year with the offense either but what I saw Saturday in the late second quarter and the second half was great improvement -- especially in the passing game.  I thought Bell and Nico had great games.  Feel awful for Bell.  The kid is a terrific competitor -- his catch on the richochet was awesome.

I just thought this team turned a corner on Saturday.

A couple of things to keep in mind:  if OSU would lose their QB I dont think they continue destroying teams.  Their two backups arent great.  Second--look at Ohio State's 1969 record.   Going into the final game, they obliterated everyone.   Not making predictions but shit happens.

During the Penn State game I was thinking if Michigan has to lose a game which team would I rather lose to - PSU or OSU?  Of course--neither.  But this year -- I would take a win against OSU over any other.

Hold your head up!  I think this team gets better and better.

Most players who have played the WR position has probably dropped a TD pass at some point in they careers. I bet nobody had any issues with Bell's play up until the dropped pass. Now for this dumbass fan who wants to think of him himself as a fan. He calls Bell a bum yet he leads the team in receptions. He's also 10th in the Big Ten in receiving yards and 6th in the Big Ten in yards per catch. But yet he's gonna define him off of one play. As for the apology shit anyone can do it. The question is does he mean it.

Good for him. I assume he was drunk and did something really stupid. It's good that it was the kind of stupid he can apologize to Bell and the internet for and not the kind of stupid where he physically hurt or killed somebody (drunk driving). Hopefully this teaches him a lesson in humility and he's a better person for it in the long run.

? Is this common knowledge that Warde will not allow Harbs to pay players? If so, changes a lot for me in terms of expectations and why Harbaugh has not been able to dominate like we all expected him to. If we're actually abiding by the rules then we're obviously playing with one hand tied behind our back and there's no chance we'll get to the level of Alabama and all the rest of the elites that hand out $$ like it's candy.

Logged in for the first time in years for this...

I'm fascinated to know if he read my text to him. I figured he was rightfully getting a ton of shit so I tried to explain to him more softly that even if he felt that way about Bell....doesn't that come down to the coaches' decision for playing him?....and the fact that without Bell we probably wouldn't have been in the position to tie the game in the first place. I did also call him out though for embarrassing himself, the fanbase, and the University though :)

Good on Connor for apologizing, however the e-mail should have never been sent. We're talking about a football game, not peace in the Middle East.

I just hope that Michigan fans don't turn him into the Bartman and force him to sell his house and move.
