the conclusion of Nevada-Purdue
What a grab by the Nevada WR at the Purdue 20 with just over 1:00 to go. Had to come to a dead stop on his route, essentially fall backward and snag it before falling out of bounds.
The very next play they take a shot at the back right corner of the end zone. The Nevada WR looks to have it with1 foot down. Purdue’s Corner simultaneously clamps on and rolls over the WR and ends up with the ball as they fall to the back corner. Could go 3 ways and after instant replay they rule it incomplete. On 2nd down they take the same shot and Nevada’s WR only gets his right hand on the ball, looking for a PI or Def Holding call.
3rd and 10 from the 20 they hit the slot receiver to the left hash right at the goal line for a TD. Flag for unsportsmanlike conduct on the TD by Nevada and the XP is pushed back. Apparently the Receiver thought he was Cam Newton and did the Superman after scoring. PAT was good anyways.
Tied at 31 Purdue takes the KO to the 29 with :45 left. Sindelar is picked off at midfield! :38 left, flag down.

Unsportsmanlike on Nevada again after the INT

Pur-D’oh!
Unbelievable kick by the Nevada kicker, but devastating choke job by Purdue.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:35 AM ^
"He’s good from 56"! Did he say Freshman kicker?
August 31st, 2019 at 3:21 AM ^
I suppose you could say they choked the chicken.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:33 AM ^
Nevada wins on a 56 yard field goal from a freshman! That was worth the lost sleep - thanks insomnia!
August 31st, 2019 at 1:34 AM ^
Purdue isn’t good.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:34 AM ^
Lol Purdue is still terrible confirmed. Pretty good game, though. Glad I tuned in.
August 31st, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
Nevada is actually a good 2nd tier team... watch and learn.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:35 AM ^
Refs need to seriously let the players celebrate a little bit in those situations, they weren't taunting Purdue players. There college kids not robots. Glad to see those penalties didn't cost them as they deserved to win with the plays they made late.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:55 AM ^
They should’ve let some of that go but it was nice to see there wasn’t any “home-cooking.”
And kudos to them for getting that late 4th quarter sideline catch and incompletion in the end zone correct.

Logged in to vote. He should transfer to Michigan. The way things are going, he would have eligibility for tonight.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:52 AM ^
It's not too late for him to transfer.
August 31st, 2019 at 2:00 AM ^
Judging by his play tonight, I'd say he's a take.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:44 AM ^
Poor choice Karlaftis
August 31st, 2019 at 1:56 AM ^
and Brohm (sic) is the high paid guru? For this? A blight on the BIG
August 31st, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
It's Purdue. Last year they lost to *Eastern Michigan* in September and went on to beat Ohio State handily in October.
Don't expect it to make sense.
Edit: and the comment right below mine says the same damn thing at the time it was happening. Doh.
August 31st, 2019 at 1:56 AM ^
Last year, Purdue managed to both lose to Eastern and beat OSU by four TDs. Let that sink in...

A sink can't open a door!
Let that sink in.

Wow, good thing that THEEEEE ohio didn't play EMU, as they would have lost by 8!!!
August 31st, 2019 at 2:08 AM ^
Brohm is overrated.
August 31st, 2019 at 2:08 AM ^
Some shit just doesn’t make sense. Last season Purdue lost to Eastern, got schooled by Staee’s back-up QB, but some how kicked the shit out of OSU. I just.....I need to drink more.
August 31st, 2019 at 2:16 AM ^
I wonder just how much dough Brohm should put in the Christmas card he sends Urban this year...
August 31st, 2019 at 2:54 AM ^
The couple unsportsmanlike penalties called at the end of that game were a complete joke. Maybe could've cost Nevada the game but they overcame them. I suppose when you come back from 17 down only to tie it with less than a minute left you are supposed to bow and apologize to the other team. Nothing they did was egregious. Utter f'ing stupidity.
August 31st, 2019 at 7:22 AM ^
As somebody put it on Twitter: The happy team got penalized for being happy.
They really need to chill out.
August 31st, 2019 at 8:08 AM ^
Miami (YTM) got flagged for a similar celebration after picking off a pass late in the 4th last weekend against UF. There was nothing inappropriate, just a guy celebrating the huge play he made for his team.
at the time it seemed like a “protect the top ten SEC team at all costs” flag, but maybe they are cracking down on celebrations and shooting for the No Fun League 2.0
August 31st, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
Somebody should come up with an equivalent of NFL=No Fun League for NCAA
August 31st, 2019 at 11:44 AM ^
Do your celebrating as soon as you get back on your own sideline.
That can't be too difficult,
August 31st, 2019 at 4:34 AM ^
Man - how great for that kid to step up and knock that FG down.
August 31st, 2019 at 5:20 AM ^
Come on Purdue... Look what you did. We let you stay up late with the adults on a Friday night and, of course, you have an accident. You go back to West Lafeyette and think about what you did.
August 31st, 2019 at 5:58 AM ^
I read that the kicker was a walk on, and after the game they gave him the game ball and a scholarship.
Also. Of the Big Ten teams who have played so far, Wisconsin is the only one that looks any good.
August 31st, 2019 at 8:25 AM ^
How did that work? Did some scholarship player get a firm handshake in the locker room after the game? Does he get a refund for the first semester that he probably already paid?
August 31st, 2019 at 10:01 AM ^
Or they were under the scholarship limit?
August 31st, 2019 at 6:37 PM ^
I know Michigan is under the limit. How often are teams under the limit?
August 31st, 2019 at 11:03 AM ^
Wisconsin looked good, but USF is hot Doo Doo
August 31st, 2019 at 7:27 AM ^
went to bed, but wow, what a game and ending. first, here is the kick
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1167682866282737665
second, if you see the locker room scene afterwards it'll give you goosebumps. it is what is right about college sports and college football specifically.
third, that kick was more like 57 yards, and it was good from 60+ judging from the video. great kick by any measure.
August 31st, 2019 at 7:49 AM ^
Thanks for linking! That was awesome - congrats to Nevada!!

When a team sucks it do sucks lol
August 31st, 2019 at 8:55 AM ^
So Purdue is a shitty team that will be unrankned at midseason.
...can we rearrange the schedule to force OSU to play them on the road at that point?
August 31st, 2019 at 9:01 AM ^
Would’ve loved to see a shot of their roid raging DC when that kick went thru. He was probably busy punching a mascot or something. I still think he put a bounty on Speight.
August 31st, 2019 at 9:17 AM ^
Just read that Brohm moved him up to the booth. Probably had a premonition of a woody Hayes-like incident with Holt.

Five turnovers by Purdue. If they lost turnover margin by only two instead of five they probably win by two scores, maybe more. I still suspect they as dangerous as any other team in the West division. Exciting finish but kind of sucks for the Big Ten's reputation.
August 31st, 2019 at 11:26 AM ^
Really made me smile. Good on the kid!
August 31st, 2019 at 12:20 PM ^
Here's a question: the Nevada holder took off his helmet while the ball was in the air. Not sure if it matters if it crossed the cross bar, but shouldn't that have been unsportsmanlike conduct?
Not rooting for that (retroactively), mind you, just wondering. Wouldn't that kind of penalty invalidate the kick in the same way that a hold or any other offensive penalty would have?
