I love how Urban exposes Don Brown’s man coverage crap once again. So nice rocking your safety to the middle of the field on a GT counter while your corner is run off because he is locked in man. Embarrassing, gimmicky, and high school scheming. Thanks Coach Meyer for out coaching Don Brown once again

Clueless football novice here, looking for instruction. Why wouldn’t the cornerback’s priority be to run with the streaking receiver regardless of scheme? Otherwise you’d risk leaving him wide open for a TD if it turns out to be a pass play.

The receiver runs you off on purpose sir while the motion away causes the safety to void LOS and roll to the middle of the field. Then Wisky pulled their guard and tackle from the opposite side of the motion to kick out the play side DT and log the play side linebacker. There was no Michigan player there because the safety went to the middle of the field following the motion. Taylor ripped off an untouched 72 yard run. Ask Salavatorre though because his Madden game gives much more extensive explanation

It was Mattison, the great recruiter, who recruited the Dline into what it is today. Oh and it was Mattison who coached Carlo Kemp and others to be the Dlinemen they are today. But yeah, don’t blame Mattison for the D Line today. It’s totally Shaun Nua’s fault. Or maybe just blame Don Brown for keeping Mattison in charge of the D line. Oh wait, you think Mattison is the answer just like Harbaugh and Brown thought he was the answer. Quite a conundrum.

You would be incorrect. Because of Michigan's scheme, Hill has to trade responsibilities with the deep safety on motion. As the Wisconsin receiver comes in motion, Hill rotates back to replace Hawkins at deep safety, and Hawkins rotates up from his deep safety position to come down to play man on the motioning WR. A lot of man coverage single high safety teams do this instead of having the corner chase the motion WR across the formation. I don't know why. Disguise maybe? Faster way to have someone new on the slot guy in man instead of a corner in trail? In any event, Hill was shuffling backward/sideways to the deep middle to play as the single high safety, and Taylor ran right to where Hill used to be. Hill had no chance to stop and change direction back to where he came from because Taylor was already gone. I watched OSU's defense get annihilated with this concept roughly 500 times last year.

Thanks for sharing this. I know there is a lot of hate on this board for Meyer but he's a great coach and I find his analysis very insightful. He explains things very well so it's not a surprise how successful he has been. His analysis is much more interesting than the analysis we see on this blog from guys who are guessing at what they're watching. We get a steady diet of "This looks like a YouTube video I watched on a similar situation 6 months ago so I'm going to create content around this". Meyer's analysis derives from "I have personally scouted and prepared for this team and here's what they are doing".

Mediocre thinking ... landed Michigan Brady Hoke and Jim Harbaugh.

I certainly agree with you on Hoke, but please explain how going after and landing Harbaugh was “mediocre thinking”.

Don’t conflate an after-the-fact retrospective look at results with before-the-fact expectations and possibilities.  Harbaugh may well turn out to not be up to the task of bringing Michigan championships, but he certain accomplished pulling the program off the abyssal path it was (seemingly) on prior to his arrival.

Pretty basic stuff, nothing revelational there.

On the long TD either Paye or Glasgow missed their assignment, period.  Even a HS noob DC wouldn't have a player be MOF deep safety and be the force player against run.

To me the LB has to scrape exchange when the DE crashes like that. Why the LB would be looking to hit a second blocker, as Urban says, rather than becoming the contain guy, I absolutely do not understand. The DE closed the hole the second puller went through by crashing anyway. Easy to say in retrospect (UFR must be a cake! Brian is so lazy! /s), but I wonder what the responsibilities actually are in DB's defense here. We've certainly been up against scrape exchanges. We must also do them, right?

USC is actually in the market for a dirtbag coach so if you’re going to put any credence in internet rumors, that one at least makes sense.

Getting rid of Harbaugh would be like when Nebraska got rid of Pelini. We, of all fanbases, should know not to be disappointed with consistent 9-10 win seasons.

The fact that this phony dirtbag is employed by the conference’s network is one thing in and of itself.

That he’s allowed to make the decision to never say one conference school’s name is ridiculous and unprofessional.

Either way, screw him and his track record for doing the wrong thing.

Why must we be subjected to this.  Isn't it bad enough he went 7-0, now we have to watch him tell us how bad we are and make it sound easy to fix.

The dude is a troll.  A few weeks ago he was hyping our backup qb to sow discord and fuel the bench Shea crowd.  And now he’s dunking on our coaches to sow discord and fuel the fire Harbaugh crowd.

All these ppl on the forum saying, “see, Urban knows what’s really going on!  We just have to give him 10 mil” can gtfo.  He’s just trying to create chaos by trolling Michigan with his hot takes, and it’s working.

The hate for Urban is great. If and its and huge if he ever became Michigan's coach all of you jumping off the bandwagon would be flying back on it once Michigan was in the playoff. It would be hilarious to watch.

I will also add listen to Urban describe the schematics behind the play. Now I want you to imagine Harbaugh doing it. Like it or not Urban is the better teacher.

Getting to analyze our games has got to be equivalent to pleasuring himself. You know he's going to just beg Fox to allow him to be the commentator for the OSU-Michigan game this year.

He'll be running up to the press box right after he gives some masterful pep talk to the entire OSU team, and somehow make them even more motivated to kick Michigan's teeth in than they already are.

Theres a group of obvious OSU trolls on this forum and the fact they are still around and post their crap with the mods turtling instead of scrubbing this forum says a lot about the state of this forum.

At this point actual Michigan fans probably have to start looking for a different Michigan website.
