Coach Prime and Colorado - real deal?? (Part Deux)
Last week's post about Prime and the Buffaloes was pretty contentious.
In case you missed it:
https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/coach-prime-and-colorado-real-deal#comments-section
Lots of doubters and folks saying it was a mirage due to the "abysmal state of TCU's defense" (paraphrased).
Further followed-up by "just wait til they go against Nebraska's defense" (also paraphrased).
The remaining schedule isn't particularly kind with their PAC-12 slate (@Oregon, USC, @ASU, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon St., Arizona, @Washington State, and finally @Utah), but they do get most of them at home including prohibitive league favorite USC.
Hearing most predicted them to be a 1-win team, and the Vegas win total over/under set at 3 - I have to continue to be impressed with this team!
Like Neon Deion or not - but he is building something out West for sure.
September 10th, 2023 at 10:52 AM ^
They gotta keep that out of conference schedule light. Remember how we were supposed to play UCLA ?
September 9th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
This is great for college football. F the haters.
September 9th, 2023 at 4:22 PM ^
Deion and his staff should be proud of what they've accomplished thus far - regardless of opponents. Not saying they are championship material, but they are back to being competitive.
That said... I have never seen a team self-destruct as much as Nebraska.
September 9th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Yeah their QB transfer from Georgia Tech seems like a mistake.
Dude can't make good decisions in the passing game which could be due to GT being so run-dominant.
That said, the THIRD string QB seemed viable as a passer. Another Purdy boy.
September 9th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
I don't think Colorado is "good", but they would be in the top half of the B1G.
September 9th, 2023 at 4:46 PM ^
I think they'll end up 10-2, which is crazy. Before the season I thought they'd be a 3 or 4 win team
September 9th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
Well if you love Coach Prime so much...
September 9th, 2023 at 5:04 PM ^
Rob F in there somewhere lol
September 9th, 2023 at 5:16 PM ^
Quite a stretch you're making there, bDoggieDoo. Not sure where you're connecting a harmlessly silly Peewee Herman gif with "hatred", but yeah, go ahead and you do you.
September 9th, 2023 at 8:14 PM ^
Yeah. OP needs to chill out a minute on the D Sanders/CU promotional materials. If it helps him sleep at night, CU seems to be doing well and Sanders is leading Transfer U to what I’m sure will be a fine mediocre season. Can you just leave it at that?
Why keep stumping so hard on a topic a handful of posters have disagreed with you on? Nobody is going back to your previous thread to fact-check on things a majority of the board doesn’t give a shit about. Take the night off and be satisfied the coach and team you enjoy are doing well instead of feeling the need to prove a few people wrong. That’s just MGoSad…
September 13th, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
For all those points, you'd think you have seen this kind of thing before.
People reaching back YEARS to call out other people on a take they had far in the distant past.
Don't like it? Don't read it, much less comment on it.
September 13th, 2023 at 1:36 PM ^
Wow - you took it personally when it is funny gifs in response to your own funny gif.
Weird take man. And a personal attack on top. Interesting.
September 13th, 2023 at 1:42 PM ^
"Personal attack" lol. That's what many of your posts throughout both of your two CoachPrime threads have been all about, and now you complain about the nickname I gave you?
Troll away all you wish, Bolivar---after all, you seemingly do so on just about any and every MGoBoard thread where you see an opportunity. Posting history doesn't lie. Continue doing so, though, and the banhammer comes out. Again.
I hadn't downvoted your above gifs yet, but now consider it done.
September 13th, 2023 at 6:39 PM ^
LOL
I have gone through my comments on the coach prime thread and there are NO personal attacks.
PLEASE SHARE ONE.
AAAAANDD crickets. Because I didn't attack anyone. I was very cordial.
September 13th, 2023 at 6:40 PM ^
again you took a GIF too seriously and continue to do so. LOL
September 13th, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
My posting History.
Said nothing trolling or personally attacking anyone in this thread:
https://mgoblog.com/users/bdogg46
Feel free to dig through where I was attacking anyone in the Coach Prime thread as you asserted.
September 14th, 2023 at 12:06 AM ^
Crickets because my priorities suddenly shifted several hours ago when I got a call that an immediate family member might need to go to the emergency room. A two hour drive later, we're still at the hospital while they're running tests.
More info than I care to share with you, but only fair that I finally respond at some level.
September 9th, 2023 at 8:23 PM ^
You're doing too much.
September 9th, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
They will be 6-6
September 9th, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
If Big Noon Kickoff is staying there for a 10pm game on ESPN against Colorado State, they might as well camp out in Boulder the rest of the season.
September 9th, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
I don't care at all about Colorado but I'm happy for you.
September 9th, 2023 at 5:04 PM ^
Anyone who watched that game and came away thinking that Colorado is a good team needs to get their eyes checked. That was a game of two awful teams with Nebraska shooting themselves in the foot. Colorado is lucky that Jeff Sims literally is a detriment to his own team. Colorado is gonna be in for a wake-up call against actual competition
September 9th, 2023 at 5:09 PM ^
Nebraska certainly shot themselves in the foot and screwed their defense.
But just under 400 yards passing from Sanders and that offense is impressive.
September 9th, 2023 at 5:14 PM ^
He threw the ball 42 times against Nebraska… it’s not that impressive
September 9th, 2023 at 5:22 PM ^
Sanders could be a top 5 QB in the Big Ten. They just beat TCU and Nebraska. Granted, they can't beat Georgia, Alabama and UM. Give them credit though, they are a legit top 25 team.
September 9th, 2023 at 6:40 PM ^
They won't beat a single top 25 team. They are ass and have played ass teams
September 9th, 2023 at 8:06 PM ^
Sanders could be a top 5 QB in the Big Ten
That's not really saying much. This year is an awful year for B1G QBs
they are a legit top 25 team
Based on what? Beating a super overrated TCU team that returned 3 starters and finally pulling away from an awful Nebraska team after their awful QB fumbled the ball 3 times and threw an interception in the first half? I feel like anyone who actually thinks Colorado is remotely good did not watch the first half of this game
September 9th, 2023 at 5:05 PM ^
Colorado is better than I thought. Happy to eat a bit of crow. But they’re still going to have at least 5 losses. I didn’t see a team that’s going to compete with the upper half of the conference.
September 9th, 2023 at 5:07 PM ^
Not sold yet. TCU and Nebraska are both bad, but in two weeks, we shall find out...@Oregon then USC. I have a feeling they'll come back down to earth FAST.
September 9th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
Colorado has beaten two P5 teams, and they look like a team that will make a bowl game. That's huge improvement over last season, for sure. If that's the definition of "real deal," then they're there already. If the definition is "can hang with Oregon and USC," then we'll have to wait and see. I bet they get beaten handily by those teams, but we'll know soon enough
September 9th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
If winning two games is the definition of real deal we need to change the definition. Colorado beat two bad teams and will get thumped by actual football teams
September 9th, 2023 at 5:51 PM ^
I know everyone likes to shit on Rutgers being in the conference, but Nebraska is far and away the biggest disappointment of the big name teams that have moved conferences over the past 10+ years.
IMO that’s a zombie program at this point. Maybe Rhule can turn it around, but nobody has been able to do it so far since Solich.
September 9th, 2023 at 7:56 PM ^
Bo Pelini had very competitive teams and certainly treaded water. Their biggest mistake was firing him and entering into a coaching revolving door. Pelini was righting the ship post Callahan, and leaving a stable program for the right coach to step in, but they decided to cancel him instead. But, yes the Solich fire was out of ignorance after the dominance of Osborn.
I have a feeling that Ohio State might do the same thing with Ryan Day.
September 9th, 2023 at 8:19 PM ^
Don’t forget Scott Frost had very hard hitting teams for 3 1/2 quarters. You know, when the games really count.
September 9th, 2023 at 6:06 PM ^
I'm a fan of them.
September 9th, 2023 at 6:06 PM ^
I believed, and you can look up my posts a month ago. People were operating on old rules but now free transfers and can instantly build a team which he did. And now I fear he's stealing Underwood.
September 9th, 2023 at 11:52 PM ^
Thankfully, Underwood is visiting for the USC game against an opponent who will take advantage of year 0 Colorado and not one of these first 3 games
September 9th, 2023 at 6:11 PM ^
I'm hard pressed not to like the guy. It isn't like he changed his demeanor when he took the job.
September 9th, 2023 at 6:39 PM ^
Here's how I remember how to spell Deion: There's no "I" in team but there is one in Deion.
September 9th, 2023 at 6:46 PM ^
They would’ve lost to a better team than Nebraska today.
September 9th, 2023 at 6:55 PM ^
I mean chances are last year's Colorado team loses these first two games, but these first two games have also been against teams with terrible problems. Nebraska likely wins with a QB who isn't a turnover machine.
September 9th, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
Still no. Lol.
September 9th, 2023 at 7:01 PM ^
I’m not sure why anyone even references them going 1-11 last year. When you bring in an entirely different team with an NFL QB, it really doesn’t matter what they went last year.
September 9th, 2023 at 7:45 PM ^
This is a great point. You basically have like 20 guys from last years team, and I’m sure not one of them is a starter.
On radio listening to the Colorado play by play guys, every play they mentioned one transfer after another.
September 9th, 2023 at 7:44 PM ^
Listened to the game while working. Sounded like Nebraska did some very Nebraska stuff by shooting themselves in the foot 4 or 5 times for major momentum swings.
Sheduer and Hunter are the real deal, and they seem to have some other good supporting guys at receiver. I’m sure defenses keying in on Sanders and Hunter help give the other guys some opportunities Run game sounds mostly non existent for them.
They sound like a sure fire bowl team, I’m predicting 7-5 as film gathers up on them and they play better teams than the last 2 weeks.
They are having trouble protecting Sheduer Sanders, so we will see how he holds up. Sacked 8 times today.
Deion is a good coach, although who knows if he can develop a run game or a defense that stones teams consistently. But what they have done the last 2 weeks with 88 new players is pretty remarkable. I still think his schtick is annoying, and I always think it’s weird and “cringey” when suddenly a bunch of rappers and stuff show up on the sidelines. Guys who probably never gave a crap about Colorado sports before Deion.
September 9th, 2023 at 7:59 PM ^
CU is a classic top 20 dangerous team. They would get routed by top 10 teams but create matchup and style issues for so many teams.
Deion has very talented skill players. Eventually, some top 20 team will grind them down.
September 9th, 2023 at 8:18 PM ^
More impressive if they can keep winning with the goal posts always moving.
They obviously have some deficiencies but they are also only two games into a new coaching regime with a bunch of guys that haven't played together or in that system. I think any defensive coordinator is going to be a bit nervous playing them and there are about 6 B1G teams I'd rather play.
September 9th, 2023 at 9:03 PM ^
I fondly remember when Michigan won several September Championships under RichRod, the Tate Forcier cover of Sports Illustrated after a win against ND, etc.
It's awfully early in the season to anoint or excoriate anyone.
Colorado could be good, or could be fool's gold. The sample size is too small to be certain of much.
