Coach Prime and Colorado - real deal?? (Part Deux)

Last week's post about Prime and the Buffaloes was pretty contentious.

Lots of doubters and folks saying it was a mirage due to the "abysmal state of TCU's defense" (paraphrased).

Further followed-up by "just wait til they go against Nebraska's defense" (also paraphrased).

The remaining schedule isn't particularly kind with their PAC-12 slate (@Oregon, USC, @ASU, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon St., Arizona, @Washington State, and finally @Utah), but they do get most of them at home including prohibitive league favorite USC.

Hearing most predicted them to be a 1-win team, and the Vegas win total over/under set at 3 - I have to continue to be impressed with this team!

Like Neon Deion or not - but he is building something out West for sure.

Deion's Buffs getting more bets than NFL games

Colorado is obviously better than expected. But I'm still not buying the Buffs as anything more than a midlevel team. I think they'll get clocked by USC, Oregon and Utah.

I was at the Colorado game today. Sat right above the tunnel and Deion comes out with a white hoody over his head about an hour before kickoff and just “moseys” the perimeter of the entire field. The energy in that place was insane. Maybe not Ohio state v Michigan energy but pretty intense. Deion brings swagger. Things were a bit chippy too. Be interested to see if they lose their cool against a tougher foe. Shadur was also under duress an awful lot but does the rabbit out of the hat plays that could be disasters against more athletic teams. The Colorado fans don’t expect Deion to be at Colorado more than 2 years, so Bryce Underwood should consider that before being wowed by the coach prime swagger. I saw all the recruits there and Terrell owens and Shannon sharpe etc. it would impress a recruit.

I'm not sure how much that commitment to the program matters anymore. Look at the impact he made to an HBCU - and how he brought his top guys with him to Colorado. Why couldn't he convince a 5 star that he could do the same in his next jump to a top tier college program (assuming success obviously, but that's what would be sold)?

I'm sure he talked to Travis Hunter about following him up the ranks when he originally recruited him.

Maybe they are. Maybe they're not. Neither one changes my feelings on Deion himself. I don't like the way he drove a lot of kids away from a school they committed to. But so far it's working, and as in anything success breeds copycats, so I might as well get used to it.
