CJ Stroud boldly pushes back on "softness" accusations from college career
I'm going to let this quote speak for itself
If there’s a current NFL rule you could change, or if you could create a rule, what would it be?
Stroud: I have two. Can I do two? I would say that everybody has to have a dome if you’re in a cold area. And two, more cool uniforms. I don’t think that uniforms are meant to be so generic. Tradition is fine. (But) I think that would make the game more fun. Every cold game in a dome … but it’s OK; you get used to it. Actually, I love playing in the cold, but it’s love-hate.

I loved the Dome. We were in nosebleed seats for the Pistons and checked out the Lions field, around the curtain.
I have great memories of the Silverdome. It was a terrible venue in so many ways, and yet every time I watched a game there, I had fun--even watching the Pistons there. Terrible concert venue, but I had fun every time. So, yeah, a sentimental favorite.
And of course, there was that one time the greatest band ever assembled played there:
We also know he's in favor of the "tuck" rule coming back.
Well, sure, the Tuck Rule is “$1 million per loss.” CJ’d clean up!
That's funny that he had to add a second rule but it's just so he can have a cool uniform.
"Just think how cool I would look if I wasn't covered in snow. Damn you NFL for not having more domes"
When he flames out errrr..."retires" in a few years, it won't be because he played QB at osu. It will ultimately be because the NFL doesn't have enough domes and him not looking cool.
Cliche answer for a California kid. Don’t like cold weather and the other most important thing is I want cool uniforms!
Wasn't there some California kid who went the Michigan and played QB in the NFL for a bunch of years?
You know what makes you look cool? Winning!
Each NFL stadium must be set to 70.3 degrees and 35% humidity during game time hours.
Good grief. Is it April 1st?
Stroud played very well both times he faced Michigan, and once in the snow. He wasn’t soft and he wasn’t the reason they lost.
If making excuses like he did after a loss isn't soft then nothing is.
And he was lucky to not throw 4 picks against us this year.
He also wasn't the reason they won either.
He was the reason they lost to us. Because he wasn't willing to run the ball.
When they finally got him to do it against Georgia, he was very effective. Had he been willing to run against us in 2021 and 2022, those outcomes could have been quite different.
Are defenses not allowed to rush the QB whilst playing in domed stadiums?
Asking for a GM.
I love this guy. The NFL needed its own Ben Simmons.
He is soft as Charmin, but I don't like the cold either and hated playing football in it. 🤷🏾♂️
Did someone draft you 2nd overall and pay you millions to play?
Man I clicked on the link expecting to write a defense of Stroud. Figured we were mocking his not running against us and was going to put that on his coaches for not gameplanning for it.
But then, uh, he went and talked about weather
You're still right about his coaches not game planning for him to run against us. They did finally do it against Georgia and almost won. I'm glad they figured it out after our game.
Good lord, he's incapable of giving an intelligent answer.
His all time low NFL S2 cognition test reflect this as well.
Well, they don't play school over there in C-bus
I'm surprised he didn't have a 3rd rule: "Every time I lose, I get to blame it on the flu."
you try playing with a tummy ache and the sniffles. that'll make you angry, too. a stuffy nose will shut you right down.
Michael Jordan sarcastically approves of this comment.
I love CJ Stroud. He was a real fun player to watch, he embarrassed Sparty both times, by all means seems like a fine dude (even as a Buckeye), and most of all, he was 0-2 vs us. Give me that for a Buckeye QB every year.
So his NFL career is going to come down to how many TD passes he can throw before he gets broken in half or freezes at Lambeau/Buffalo?
He's lucky he plays in a warm and bad division. But can he succeed going from having more talent than everyone to less than everyone? I'm skeptical.
Also, just realized he's gonna be Nico's QB. Gross.
That’s not exactly something I want to be advertising to my employer right after they hire me. Playing in the cold is part of your freaking job description, buddy.
It may not get cold in Houston, but it’s sure going to be cold in Cincinnati and New York, where you’ll be playing in November and December. Will probably be fairly cold in Nashville when you play there in December, too.
Air conditioning can be chilly! Can't be too careful.
That boy Charmin soft
When he flames out of the NFL . . . I'm guessing the CFL is not going to be an option.
But the arena league is 100% indoor football so he'll always have that option.
CJ Shroud is a gift to all of us here.
While we sit here and laugh we should remember that Harbaugh wanted him badly.
Maybe he just has trouble with irony?
I love playing in the cold but hate playing in the cold.
I care about rivalries but rivalries don't matter.
It's a game so the score matters but the score doesn't really matter.
Even cold game in a dome except when not.
I'm not a loser, you are! And so am I!
Great title, BTW.
Domes do need to be replaced every now and then.
It doesn’t get any more contemptible than that
If I was the Texans I would, aside from being filled with remorse for drafting this bust, is keep this keep away from all reporters.
LOL. Even if you think it...you don't say it.
As Brian said on one of the recent podcast, CJ Stroud needs a lawyer or advisor or someone who will tell him to shut up.
He really is one of the weirdest dudes I've seen in a long time. He's obviously talented as a player but between these comments, his personal player comps being Michael Vick (!) and Deshaun Watson (!!) (neither of whom I'd consider real style comps on the field), him clearly not handling the UM game pressure/narrative well, him throwing some shade at Ryan Day, and rumors about attitude issues during the draft he just seems like a big red flag of a player. Maybe he works out in the NFL but I certainly wouldn't have hitched my franchise to him.
Weak
Lol. Read this as CJ Stokes and was like, who would call him soft? Realized it was CJ Stroud and it all makes sense.
I read it as CW McCall and I thought he only wanted to play in the dark of the moon on the sixth of June in a Kenworth pullin' logs.
I don't have a major problem with CJ. He has generally come across as a relatively good kid. But, between this, and his comments at the combine re: Watson... he lacks some self awareness lmao.
Fashion! And ewww cold air. Omg.
