I mean seems pretty reasonable statement and good to put out there considering all the rumors about his firing.  I thought it was known he was fired because he tried to perhaps 'coach' or 'speak with' players regarding their interviews with the NCAA investigators.  This is a no-no and I'm sure Warde came down hard to show cooperation with NCAA to limit damages down the road.  As far as was known when he was fired, he didn't know anything about Stalions scouting and destroying evidence was just a message board rumor.

It is pretty simple, and I give the same directive to my clients during an investigation.  Just don't talk about the facts of the case or the investigation itself.  They can literally talk about anything else.

It is unfortunate that Partridge got tripped up by this, but it is a simple and clear direction that is always given in cases like this, and I totally get why the administration felt it had not choice here, given the atmospherics.

If the choice is immediately firing Partridge when this was found out or a LOIC and show cause on Harbaugh due to the “blame falls on the head coach” rule for obstructing an NCAA investigation (something the ncaa is going to be attentive to given their belief about Harbaugh’s actions in Cheeseburger-gate), it’s really not a hard call.

If all the info checks out about coaches being in the dark about Wyld Stallions, it would be really short sighted to get hit with a violation for obstructing the investigation.

While it sucks to see him go, given the events that were swirling around the program at the time, firing him to avoid the Big Ten trying to find another way to hammer us was probably the safest move to preserve the team's ability to compete. Hopefully, he lands somewhere soon, even if it's back here after this all blows over. It seems like he probably just made a stupid mistake.

sigh.

this entire episode is never. going. to end.

i'm sorry to see him go, and i understand why he's doing it, but MAN i wish we could stop with the drip-drip-drip.  i thought we were somewhat past the firestorm of idiot media speculation, and now we're going to get another round of yammering from the pete thamel types.

Obviously there are two sides to every story but I wish we stop trying to placate the Big Ten and NCAA. It worked out for us in the end but suspending Partridge and going through with the TRO would have been better. This just gives the impression that Michigan is admitting fault like the Burgergate thing. I wouldn't go out of my way to piss off the NCAA but trying to win over Charlie Baker is the most Michigan thing ever and probably isn't the right course of action when they are just a pack of hungry dogs fighting over a piece of meat that will keep coming back for more.

Hmmm. Difficult situation to say the least. Sounds like collateral damage. Hope he lands on his feet and am appreciative of his contributions to the success of Team 144. Go Blue!

He could've taken an entirely different approach to this. Outside of Michigan stuff, NCAA stuff, Big Ten stuff, and so on -- Partridge seems like a standup friend/coworker for Harbaugh and his players.

Remember that one time a few weeks ago when Warde issued a tough guy statement to the Big Ten in defense of the football team?

Yeah, those were the good old days

This is another professional who very likely LOVES Michigan Football.

He put the kids first by remaining silent prior to the osu game.

Certainly, he must be heartbroken to not be with the team but rejoice in their victories even without him.  The University is the one institution which will eat its own for the sanctity of the future.

Go Blue.

Hire him back after the silly NCAA investigation is completed, then bail to the ACC (or be independent … would totally subscribe to the Wolverine Network)

This only further suggests to me that Michigan was in no way preparing for an all-out war, and that all the talk suggesting that were indeed dung. Michigan was trying to restore some level of trust w/ the B1G and NCAA, and Partridge - unfortunately and for the most part unintentionally - just stepped in dung at the wrong time.

This stings. Several years ago Partridge went out of his way to introduce my kid to perhaps a dozen players as we waited near the team bus. Even introduced us to his mom. He's a good guy in my book.

Excellent, you don't release public statements like this if you knew.  Lends more evidence that the shitbags in Columbus and ESPN were just making shit up to get clicks.

Partridge did what any coach and mentor would do, he tried to best take care of his players. The way the Bigten was coming after Harbaugh vindictively, Partridge was right to steer the players and warn them. Once again, our worthless AD bends over and takes it and then cans someone just to placate Pettiti. It is quite obvious that Warde does not want Jim here and he’s done everything he possibly can to not help him along the way. Sad when the new President had to bridge the gap last year. Partridge fell on the sword for the University much like Harbaugh has been doing. Hopefully we at least get a national championship out of this mess.

Stand up guy. Not surprised.

Clearly this is not a burn it down deal like Blackwell. Partridge sounds like he cares about the kids the team and the program.

Much of everything else is speculation.

Seriously, when can we move on from Warde?  Reading between the lines, obviously the Big Ten wanted a head to add to Harbaugh's suspension when they dropped this mini-firecracker on us in the run up to the hearing before the Maryland game.  We gave them Partridge and now we lost a top notch recruiter and pretty good coach forever.

Any fool can sit silently and do nothing.  What does Warde actually do here, when the program is under constant attack?  His most public statement in the past two years was that he's skipping one CoFoPo committee meeting to handle things at the AD.  No one cares about that.  His value to us was to be the severed head that cooled all of this down, and he wouldn't even do that.

Where the fuck is Compliance in all of this?

They should be immediately telling everybody very clearly what they can and cannot do during an investigation, and what the consequences are.  And that there will  be consequences, so don't even think about doing it.

None of this "I'm a mentor for these kids, I've got to show my support and coach them what to say."  No.  Don't even think about it.  Do not be stupid.

Michigan football is awesome.  University of Michigan administration, however, has too many bungling idiots. Thanks for your time at Michigan, Coach Partridge.  You deserve to be proud as hell of what you helped build.

Can tell how seriously Michigan takes the Big Ten West champs by how everyone who "doesn't want to be a distraction" waits until after the OSU game but not the actual BTCG to make their big announcements: Cade last year and Partridge this year.
