CFP Natty Game
So, who do you like in the championship game?
Alabama?
Georgia?
Force majeure (maybe a meteor or hurricane in Indy)?
Actually, don't give two sh*ts?
I am bordering on don't give two..., but I guess the "anyone but Bama," i.e., Georgia concept would be the most favorable, perhaps making the sting of losing to UGA a bit more bearable if they get their revenge.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
Screw ESPN and the CFP committee. I don't care for the SEC and won't watch it.
January 3rd, 2022 at 5:09 AM ^
Agreed...this game was already played a few weeks ago. While I agree Georgia is an excellent team they got beat soundly by Bama already in the SEC championship game.
Had they played week 3.....maybe I feel different about the rematch.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
Who cares
January 1st, 2022 at 9:11 PM ^
Yep. Regardless of the result, ESPN will continue to slobber on the SEC and these two schools will continue to recruit like gangbusters. The game doesnt matter to anyone outside the two schools involved
January 1st, 2022 at 7:35 PM ^
Georgia
January 1st, 2022 at 9:59 PM ^
Agree, would be cool to have both the Braves and Dawgs as champions at the same time.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:39 PM ^
I won't watch, but I hope Georgia wins.
January 1st, 2022 at 9:22 PM ^
^^^^^^^^^
This exactly. Can't stand saban.......
January 1st, 2022 at 7:41 PM ^
Don’t care and won’t watch.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:42 PM ^
I'll check the score the next day.
If Georgia plays the way they did last night they'll win.
January 2nd, 2022 at 8:57 PM ^
I’d like to see GA play the way they played us and demolish Bama. Georgia was the better team Friday, but if we played 10 times we’d win at least one or two. Would like to see them prove that for us against Bama.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:45 PM ^
Do not care. I’ll root for the meteor.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:18 PM ^
Please no meteor, I'm too close..
How about a major snow Strom? Flights would be a mess . Rental cars in ditches and it would be miserable for the unprepared southerners. Add in Indianapolis awful snow removal plan. It would be hilarious.
January 1st, 2022 at 9:26 PM ^
This is a definite possibility. You should be getting a good dumping of the white stuff right now ?
January 2nd, 2022 at 8:47 AM ^
Normally my go-to for games i dont like either team (re: msu/osu) is to root for a meteor, nuclear attack, or the rapture. But I might have to add blizzard to the mix when southern teams are involved. I live in VA and we're supposed to get 2-4 inches tomorrow... everyone is freaking out.
January 2nd, 2022 at 10:10 AM ^
Indoor stadium so the only thing a snow storm would do would make driving hell. Wouldn't wish that on anyone. Good luck to you - I used to live in Dallas and 2 inches of snow would mean a lot of accidents.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:51 PM ^
Cheer for Alabama and the status quo. They’ll lose Saban before Georgia loses Smart and you don’t want Georgia to become Alabama in the meantime.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:59 PM ^
And the state of Georgia is more of a talent hotbed than Alabama. Considering that the only in-state competition (GT) has high admissions standards, UGa is in an extremely favorable position.
January 1st, 2022 at 9:11 PM ^
Do the state borders really matter? Clemson is virtually the same distance to Athens as Atlanta. Would a top recruit really pick Georgia over Alabama because it's in-state?
January 1st, 2022 at 9:16 PM ^
They do matter. If you grow up in Georgia, you probably grow up rooting for UGa - or at least, have lots of friends/family who are UGa fans.
January 1st, 2022 at 10:04 PM ^
Hootie Hooo! The Kennesaw State Owls have a football team, too!
January 2nd, 2022 at 8:40 AM ^
Georgia is probably the darkest state that actually has more than one P5 school. WI, NE, OH, WV, WY, and HI are all super dark but their single P5 school has a monopoly on fan loyalty. If anything this map shows just how important state borders are.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:52 PM ^
I've got this sense that Alabama wins. They seem to play up to the moment. Some say Georgia has a point to prove, but I think Alabama has one too; that is, that their win over Georgia in the SEC championship game was no fluke. We'll see.
January 1st, 2022 at 9:40 PM ^
I'm not actually convinced of this. I had hoped that Georgia would come into last night's game emotionally flat, but instead they were well-motivated and sharp. I suspect the same will happen for the title game, and George will play better against Alabama the second time.
I also don't think Alabama is as strong as some of its recent championship teams have been. They looked human at times during the regular season.
Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Saban win yet again. (Although I am rooting for Georgia.)
I do wish Georgia had beaten Alabama in the SEC championship game. Then Michigan would have likely ended up playing Cincinnati in the playoffs, who I think was a better matchup. (Although the fourth team likely would have been Notre Dame. Blah.)
January 1st, 2022 at 7:56 PM ^
Georgia is for real. I was so impressed with Dean and their rows of shark teeth on the DL. I am just scratching my head at how Bama wrecked them a month ago. I think GA plays better this time. I'm so sick of SEC national champions so I don't really give a shit.
I will not be watching it because an 8:30 kickoff on a Monday does not jive with my work schedule. They need to find a compromise with the NFL to play it on Saturday or Sunday.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:16 PM ^
Bama has a vertical passing game with insanely talented receivers. Michigan played right into Georgia’s strengths for the most part.
January 1st, 2022 at 9:08 PM ^
Yeah. I get that they're copying what basketball did with the Monday night thing, but football games aren't over in 2 hours like basketball games are.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:57 PM ^
Natty? Natural light? Gnatty?
January 1st, 2022 at 8:46 PM ^
Yes.
OP: Natty? Really?
January 1st, 2022 at 9:21 PM ^
But it's so cool. And just think of all the time he saved not typing out "Championship". You're never getting back the 5 seconds it takes to type those 7 extra letters.
January 1st, 2022 at 10:31 PM ^
I was wearing my maize colored Michigan Engineering t-shirt today and the gnats were all over me. It was 75F in Durham so they must think it's breeding season or something. Those little dudes like the maize color.
January 2nd, 2022 at 7:17 AM ^
don't let your wife find out about you mating with gnats. it'll break her heart, you monster.
it is 12 degrees here, about 0 with wind chill. i think i'll be safe from any amorous gnats today. one can hope.
January 2nd, 2022 at 11:16 AM ^
No worries there. The gnats just aren't my type.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:58 PM ^
Won’t be watching.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
Won't watch. Don't care to see the re-run. Love Michigan, but CFB sucks until they fix the parity problem. Deep down even Bama fans are sick of this shit.
January 1st, 2022 at 9:25 PM ^
No they're not. Numb to it? Probably. Sick of it? No.
January 2nd, 2022 at 7:45 AM ^
100%. I used to live in the south and have many friends who went to Alabama. Most are saying the same thing- they've seen this game too many times. I don't know that any of them are traveling to Indy to see this one
Apparently even Bama fans have Bama fatigue
January 1st, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
I’m probably not going to watch, not out of spite, just out of apathy. I’ll die on the “I hate rematches” hill, specifically when it is conference foes in the post-season. They are definitely the two best teams, but Alabama already dismantled them, and Georgia was given a mulligan by businesspeople in Texas. Alabama deserves the crown without even playing.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:01 PM ^
Alabama's best is better than Georgia's best, however with Georgia having Pickens back, and Bama not having Metchie, I think UGA will win the rematch. But it'll be another instant classic, like their 2017 matchup, either way.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
Instant yawn.
January 1st, 2022 at 11:00 PM ^
I think Georgia is collectively a better team than Alabama. But Alabama is better (perhaps much better) at the most important position on the field. And that was the great equalizer in the last 3-4 matchups between the two schools.
Alabama had a game changer at QB. Georgia didn’t.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:02 PM ^
More like Force Manure because I'd rather be forced to eat manure than watch Alabama in another Natty game.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
I think GA will have a UM-OSU type game (from this year) where all the frustration of many losses will lead to a blowout win.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:09 PM ^
I guess Georgia but I hope it’s an awful game and nobody watches.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:11 PM ^
Here's how you fix College Football. You get rid of of every shitty Cheez it Mayonnaise Tax Slayer Turd bowl. Top 24 teams go to a bowl. 6-6 can get the fuck out. Better luck next year. Every conference champ makes the playoff. Sorry Georgia. You might be the best team, but you get to fuck off for losing the Sec championship. Enjoy your bowl game. Stop making it an exercise in Condaleeza Rice and some shitty greasy fat fucks in suits in a smokey room trying to decide who the best team is by making loud fart noises out of their face. Fuck them. Stop ruining a great sport. Give CFB a chance at parity and having underdogs.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:21 PM ^
The cigarette smoking man didn't want the Buffalo Bills winning the Super Bowl:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyhAJEPEHk4
You'd think he'd be getting sick of Bama by now...
January 1st, 2022 at 9:57 PM ^
I don't know why people hate on the smaller bowls so much. You don't want to watch? Don't watch. But why not allow the UABs and the Western Michigans a chance to play another game if they want? What's the harm, for God's sake?
Sounds like fun, but ... adding another 6 games a year after a full season and a conference championship game? Nah. Still, you want to expand it to 8, I'm in.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:15 PM ^
I don’t give a rat’s ass who wins the game, and have no intention of watching it. Think OSU v ND and root for the meteor.
January 1st, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
I want Alabama to win just so more people complain.
I want Alabama to win because I don’t want Georgia to win and get any more of a recruiting bump. They already are recruiting at or near Bama levels and I don’t want that to improve any more.
I want Georgia to win because they lasted Michigan and it improves the narrative somewhat for Michigan.
I want Georgia to win because they aren’t Alabama and Kirby is a little more likable than Saban.
I want the comet to win so that we can be done with these SEC championships as national championships.
I want the comet to win so that ESPN can quit being for the SEC what Fox News is for the GOP.
But really, as shitty of a night as last night’s game was, I’m just happy Michigan was a final 4 team.
