Is Cade still with the team?
November 6th, 2022 at 5:46 PM ^
Well I didn’t say it was a good theory
November 6th, 2022 at 5:51 PM ^
I would think this year would qualify as an 2nd redshirt due to injury
November 6th, 2022 at 6:59 PM ^
He meets all of the criteria for a medical redshirt as long as he doesn't take another snap this year.
November 6th, 2022 at 7:26 PM ^
That isn't the way medical redshirts work.
In order to qualify for an extra year (which would be his seventh), he would have to show not only that he missed this year due to an injury, but he would also have to make the case that his redshirt in 2019 was due to injury. The NCAA does not allow you to take a players'-discretion redshirt and then a medical redshirt.
This theory that Cade is so upset about losing the starting job that he's exaggerating an injury so that he can play for three years somewhere else is message board nonsense. It doesn't pass even the most basic sniff test. Cade thinks he has NFL-level skill, he's not sabotaging his chance at playing a pivotal role for a championship contending team -- the backup is only ever one play away from being the starter -- so that he can play for a seventh year at Colorado State or wherever.
November 6th, 2022 at 8:59 PM ^
Except, that's not how Medical redshirts work; the rule was changed in 2018.
A student-athlete may be granted an additional year of competition for reasons of “hardship”. Hardship is defined as an incapacity resulting from an injury or illness that has occurred under the following conditions:
- The incapacitating injury or illness occurs in one of the four seasons of intercollegiate competition at any two-year or four-year collegiate institution;
- The injury occurred in the first half of the team’s playing season;
- The injury occurred when the student-athlete had not participated in more than 30 percent of the team’s scheduled games, and
- The injury must have been severe enough that the student-athlete could not compete for the team for the remainder of the season.
As for everything else you said, I agree entirely.
November 6th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
This is allowed to be discussed now?
November 6th, 2022 at 1:50 PM ^
No. At some point a few holier-than-nows will enter the thread and declare it a mortal sin to discuss the status of the backup QB and it will be removed.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:49 PM ^
Well, when the thread is filled with either (a) misinformation, like him not being at games, or (b) insane conspiracy theories, like trying to get a 7th year, it seems like a pointless topic.
Furthermore, it's clear that the goal of some of the posters here is to slander the reputation of a guy who is still the first starting quarterback in 17 years to lead Michigan to a Big Ten title.
(Many of those same posters, BTW, are the ones who had completely turned on JJ, Harbaugh, and the entire offense during yesterday's game thread).
So, pardon me if my idea of supporting a team doesn't include bad-mouthing players after they've been beaten out.
November 6th, 2022 at 4:44 PM ^
I just want to understand the team's backup qb situation as much as possible.
That's all.
November 6th, 2022 at 10:02 PM ^
It wouldn’t make McNamara a terrible person if he decided he wasn’t going to risk further injury this year so that he can be 100% from the jump when he transfers.
November 7th, 2022 at 10:40 AM ^
Ahh we can't have an open discussion on a football blog due to the potential of MiSiNfOrMaTiOn....
November 6th, 2022 at 4:05 PM ^
Nothing wrong with asking. Lots wrong with inventing nefarious conspiracy theories about why an injured backup QB in street clothes isn’t getting more discussion.
November 6th, 2022 at 1:48 PM ^
There was a TV shot of Cade on the sidelines in full uniform at the MSU game on Oct 29th. It would be big news if Cade had quit the team and would have been reported by many of our local media outlets like 24/7, the Wolverine, DetNews.com and the like.
November 6th, 2022 at 1:58 PM ^
He was in street clothes not full uniform.
November 6th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
Full street clothes.
November 6th, 2022 at 5:28 PM ^
Cade was definitely not in any uniform. Saw him live from my seat in the stadium with my own eyes.
November 6th, 2022 at 1:51 PM ^
Cade is great. Wishing him speedy recovery -- some ankle sprains take a long time to heal, unfortunately.
November 6th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
He posted a pic of him and Derek Jeter together at the msu game
November 6th, 2022 at 2:17 PM ^
I read this board multiple times daily and although I may miss some posts, I have not heard much other than vague injury theories and therefore I appreciate this thread.
November 6th, 2022 at 2:28 PM ^
I mean the team is pretty vague about certain injuries so I don't think it is surprising we haven't heard much. Hill-Greene at Lb has been out for 8 weeks or so now with little info on what his actual injury is as well. Honestly I would not panic quite a much as some if worse case Davis had to come in. Limited sample size but he has looked pretty comfortable running the offense when he has got in. And physically he clearly has talent above your normal walk on type player.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:49 PM ^
Im going to be honest, right now I think Id rather have Davis Warren come in. Cade hasn't practiced in weeks. We don't know where he is at physically or mentally at this point of the season. Davis has shown his strength as a QB right now is running the ball so it would fit in with the current team ethos. Heck maybe we could actually run some legitimate read option.
November 6th, 2022 at 5:35 PM ^
I know he probably hasn't practiced, but if Cade is healthy, there is no way I would rather have Davis Warren playing over him if the backup is needed this season. Davis Warren has not played a meaningful snap in his career yet with real pressure against Power 5 competition (starters). Cade has been in the fire and proven himself able to compete at that level. Just because Cade had two bad games and a rough start to the season, we throw out all other history, and Davis Warren passes him with a handful of garbage time snaps?
November 7th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
How about Erick All's "life-changing surgery" which I've yet to even see what it is on any article.
November 6th, 2022 at 2:56 PM ^
He's injured, but who knows the extent as we don't have any details.
Would assume his ego has also taken a hit, as it would for any of us.
The combo of losing the starting role and not being able to practice due to physical issues would take its toll on anyone. Hopefully he can remain a postive voice within the program and wish him luck on his seemingly inevitable transfer.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:08 PM ^
When I saw him at the Maryland game he had a huge brace on his leg. To me it didn’t look like he’d be back anytime soon.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:10 PM ^
Where is Alan Bowman?
November 6th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
Why is Alan Bowman?
November 6th, 2022 at 3:31 PM ^
When is Alan Bowman.

Wither Alan Bowman?

Whence Alan Bowman.

Wherefore art thou, Alan Bowman

Is Alan Bowman?
November 6th, 2022 at 5:37 PM ^
Who is Alan Bowman?
November 6th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
He was on the sideline.
November 6th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
We are all Alan Bowman.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:29 PM ^
I just hope he gets a chance to get on the field again before the season is over - even if garbage time or kneel downs. He's earned it.
Even better if he is in playing condition to be a real backup for the last few games, but that might not be realistic. Not sure what silence on that subject accomplishes.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
He was on the sideline for MSU and injured players don't travel.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:36 PM ^
Lol this thread is gonna get nuked by the mods. The only way to get it nuked faster is to start mentioning Ace.
November 6th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
He was shown walking out of the tunnel during the PSU game.
November 6th, 2022 at 4:00 PM ^
What the hell is up with all these conspiracies? Dude got his shoulder messed up, it was announced he’d be out for several weeks at a minimum, he’s been visibly on the sideline at every home game but not in pads… because he’s too hurt to play.
November 6th, 2022 at 6:28 PM ^
Yep. His shoulder got messed up so badly, another commenter on this thread saw him with a huge leg brace
November 6th, 2022 at 9:01 PM ^
That settles it...he's Ferris Beuller! Save Cade!
November 6th, 2022 at 4:03 PM ^
Cade Cunningham is indeed still with the Pistons.
November 6th, 2022 at 4:26 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing after JJ took a few nasty shots yesterday. Hope he’s physically and mentally engaged as there’s a good enough chance he could be needed.
November 6th, 2022 at 7:27 PM ^
I have heard he has a torn mcl and is transferring. I saw him at the msu game in street clothes. I wish he was more of a leader, being that he’s a captain! He’s not very engaged when he is at the games.
November 6th, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
He was seen on tunnel cam post PSU game walking fine but in street clothes
November 6th, 2022 at 9:27 PM ^
The hit Cade took sure looks like a knee injury.
At the MSU game, he had his picture taken with Jeter.
