I get the sense that he will return if Harbaugh does no matter what.

JJ at best will be the fourth QB selected. He is viewed a talented but inconsistent passer who needs to add strength. Talking about late first to second round.

Williams, Maye, Penix, Daniels, Nix….all showed much more consistency as passers.

NIL has significantly changed recruiting elite QBs to the point where Michigan is going to find it very difficult to compete with a "pay for production, not potential" NIL strategy.  And that might be a good thing to be honest.

I'm not surprised there's been locker room issues when you've got a handful of players literally making over a million dollars/year to play alongside players making nothing.

The latter point is really striking.  Having kids walk-on and work their proverbial a**es off just to *maybe* get on scholarship before they graduate (while also managing courses to get a real, usable degree) alongside kids getting seven figures to come before even taking a single college-level snap (and probably don't care about classes at all, assuming they even stay more than 1-2 years)...

Does not seem quite right.

The Athletic has a piece from the Under Armor game asking the players (anonymously of course) what their NIL packages looked like, did they take the biggest offer or were there other considerations, etc.

Not surprisingly almost none admitted to just taking the largest offer, but the reasons some gave for choosing the schools they did were interesting.

And what sounds like a Michigan commit all but said they're interested in the 40-year plan, not the quickest bag. Is Jadyn in that game?

Anyway, when you see some schools offer to essentially put a kid on salary during their senior year of HS, with bonuses for securing other croots, you can see that Michigan's head in the sand approach is gonna have to change, and sooner than later!

Hope he chooses UM but everyone seems to think he is going somewhere else. We will be fine. May be he will transfer to us in a few years after we win a few championships.

This should be characterized as his FIRST school. Everyone gets another shot at him when he enters the portal after a year or two or three.

Its no different than a player being drafted in the NFL. Who knows where his career goes from there… it merely starts there.

If he decides to go elsewhere - will he start as a true freshman?

My view is.. time to acclimate and learn is a good thing.  It seems that JJ’s development was helped by essentially being a “spot” player his first season - and, that time served him well.

Well based on how the article is written, Wiltfong has already seen Underwood's commitment video. And Wiltfong has not moved his crystal ball from LSU...

While no guarantee he'll match in college what he has done in HS, the point is Michigan wants kids who buy into a culture. We have witnessed the last three seasons what a team that isn't made up of high 4  and 5 star kids can do when they play complimentary football. I am not naive to think that this can be replicated every season because there are so many moving parts but either Bryce wants to be part of that selfless Michigan culture or not. It also doesn't help that no one knows if Harbaugh is going to be around after next Monday's glorious win to capture a well deserved National Championship title.  We'll soon see.

And I'll take the win on Monday over getting the verbal commit from Underwood everyday of the week for the next 100 years.

I honestly don't care. We will be ok. If/when we win the title, it will show development > 5 stars

I thought he always wanted to play in the SEC, that’s fine if he goes south. We have people who were brought up in the south that go north. maybe these players want to experience something different.

Now we can always play nice when you finish second in recruiting and wait for him to get pissed off at his first team.  See him in '26?  It keeps the teams that are fronting money to 17 year olds from getting players during their best (later) years.

It is darkly hilarious that SE Michigan has produced three generational quarterbacks in the past four cycles and it looks like we'll miss on them four times (twice for Dante).

To be fair, I don't think we ever actually had a shot with Carr.  Seems clear that he wanted to blaze his own trail and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, nor with Bryce looking for a bag if that is indeed what's attracting him to LSU (other than, you know, it being an elite program where you can win even if you have certifiable morons at HC)

Missing on Dante is the one that hurts since it seems like if Campbell had been recruiting him rather than Weiss we would have been in a much better position to get him
