Brady versus Belichick Open Thread

His Subway commercial was really bad
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:03 PM ^
I love the Brady / Gronk T-Mobile commercial though.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:05 PM ^
His wife is really attractive
October 3rd, 2021 at 11:52 PM ^
I know she is a "supermodel", but where? I've never seen her in anything.
Of course, I'm probably not the target audience for the stuff she is in.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:19 AM ^
She was an angel. She definitely showed off stuff meant for hot-blooded men. Oops, I meant for women's self-expression.
I kid. I kid.
October 4th, 2021 at 9:26 AM ^
She must have been somewhere since (at one time) she made more money than Tom.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:45 AM ^
Really? I thought the “do you even eat bread?” Line was hilarious. As was his “it’s just a commercial” retort.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:02 PM ^
I'll be watching to see if Uche and Winovich can get to him tonight and what would happen afterwards.
Pulling for Tampa, I want Brady to get more credit for the Pats success than Belichick.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:10 PM ^
He already does, based on what happened to both teams when he moved . . . one winning the Super Bowl versus the other watching the Super Bowl on TV.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:12 PM ^
Even moar credit
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:19 PM ^
Let's go Tawmy Brady!
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:18 PM ^
Reminiscent of that scene in Ted 2 when they break into his house to steal his sperm.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:36 PM ^
Yeah that’s a catch and fumble.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:37 PM ^
If that’s not a fumble, I don’t know what is
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:40 PM ^
Tuck rule?
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:40 PM ^
Absolute horseshit.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:50 PM ^
Gronk needs more love. He's missed bigly.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
Jeez, Belichick's son looks like a child molester.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:05 PM ^
Unlike his father.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:04 PM ^
I know the Lats were only gonna take a small moment to recognize the achievement of Brady passing Brees, but that was the most underwhelming celebration ever. Nobody knew he even broke it lol
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:11 PM ^
Pretty shitty to be honest for what he gave to this franchise. Even Brees was over there like wtf and had a few claps to at least do something to show it had been broken.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:32 PM ^
It was terrible not to give him his moment when he broke the record. Im in Massachusetts. The Pats fans still love Brady. They want the Pats to win but they would have given Brady an ovation for breaking the record if the powers that be could have had the decency to pause for a minute to recognize him.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:04 PM ^
Kraft is a sleaze bag. I’ll root for the Patriot demise every year forever. The lack of class by not recognizing him highlights it even more. Juxtaposed against the recognition I’d suspect Tampa would have provided after one year and will likely do next week.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:22 AM ^
Oh, stop it. Brady didn't want the tribute in the middle of his drive.
Why would he? He's busy. Seriously.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Has nothing to do with not respecting Brady.
Anybody saying anything different is just a Patriot hater.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:19 AM ^
It didn't have to be right after the play, but maybe after the drive was over, during the media timeout?
(I'm not a Patriot hater. This was the first NFL game I've watched this season.)
October 4th, 2021 at 8:01 PM ^
Exactly- They zoomed in on him in the huddle and he could have cared less - that's why he is Tom Brady - GOAT!
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:05 PM ^
I find it really odd seeing Brady do a commercial for Subway and their “fresh baked bread” when he probably hasn’t eaten anything remotely resembling bread in at least a decade.
I’m sure the money they’re offering him is good, but still, does not seem like a product alignment for him at all.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:10 PM ^
You missed the punch line at the end where Brady looks at the sub roll hungrily and the voice over lady whispers: "But you don't eat bread."
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:23 PM ^
Hey, better than Subway’s original marketing campaign they had to quickly scrap.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:10 PM ^
Field goals; you might think they would be automatic from under 40 yards at this stage.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:20 PM ^
Too many flags. Let them play.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:22 PM ^
Man, is the Pro game tedious. God bless college football.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:22 PM ^
Brady has seemed off...two chances from the red zone and only 3 points off of it...
Not having Gronk hurts but him and Brate were not even on the same page
Patriots seem to have found something on this TD drive
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:23 PM ^
I love Brady
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
Brady has his work cut out for him this year, this team is not that great across the board. Maybe it’s the injuries mounting up but they just don’t look very good this year so far.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:35 PM ^
Their corners have been decimated by injury.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:07 PM ^
They’re not as good (so far) as they were towards the end of last year. Absolutely. Some of that has to do with their secondary being decimated by injuries, JPP has been out the last two weeks, Gronk is out tonight and probably for a while, and their RBs have been awful. What’s kept them in all their games is their passing game and Brady has been having Evans, Gronk, AB and Godwin all at his disposal, and each of them always being able to get him yards when they needed it.
They should get better as they start getting guys back from injury, and they still have a fantastic front seven. But their secondary is so bad/thin right that all the pressure the front seven can generate is almost negated, because opposing receivers are just getting open so quickly.
October 3rd, 2021 at 11:53 PM ^
They looked pretty meh at the start of last year too, iirc.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
Richard Sherman is not good anymore.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
I think Mac Jones is the real deal. People who don’t follow college football don’t realize how high profile and stressful it is to be the quarterback for ‘Bama in the National Championship Game. He has played in huge high profile games before. The Pats will still probably not win but I’m loving Mac Jones.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:00 PM ^
I think he will be a solid QB for them as well and the best from his draft class.
That being said, I think his success will be due to the much better situation and overall franchise leadership when compared to the situations that Lawrence/Wilson/Fields and Lance (to a lesser degree) all find themselves in.
October 3rd, 2021 at 11:46 PM ^
I was at the 2020 Citrus Bowl. Mac Jones is the real deal. I’m surprised he dropped as low as he did in the draft.
October 4th, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
The Mac Jones hype train is out of control. He looks ahead of the other rookies in his class, but he also inherited a much better situation than most rookie QBs (the Patriots over/under for wins this year was 9.5). Despite all of that, he still has a lot to prove. He has been able to go through his progressions and get the ball out quickly and accurately under a lot of pressure, but the Patriots offense also has been extremely limited, and Jones has taken few shots downfield. Jones has also had a couple of near miss bad INTs.
One other thing to keep in mind is that Tampa Bay played most of that game without almost their entire starting secondary (Sean Murphy-Bunting and Jamel Dean did not play, and Carlton Davis and Antoine Winfield both left the game with injuries). Richard Sherman was just signed off the street a couple days ago and played almost the whole game. The Tampa secondary should have been easy to take advantage of last night. Stafford lit them up for almost 350 yards and 4 TDs last week before some of these injuries, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of QBs put up monster numbers against them moving forward if these are long-term injuries.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:53 PM ^
Patriots have to feel good, but the missed FG and a bunch of PI on Tampa Bay on that one drive is the only reason they have that lead.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:55 PM ^
Onwenu needs to stop holding. Mac Jones really came through, overcoming those two 1st and 20s due to Big Mike's holding calls. Man...
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:23 PM ^
Surprised that one wasn’t overturned also. Meanwhile TB offense looks poor at best, that TE is a non catching machine
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:34 PM ^
What was that call? Can you block someone when they are out of bounds? How can you directly return when the other team is blocking you? I guess I am ignorant to that part of the rules, but its very confusing.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:37 PM ^
I think its one of those where you need to at least make an effort to get back in bounds. Sure there were TB players in his way, but he didn't even try.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:49 PM ^
You can't just run down the sideline out of bounds. He needs to attempt to enter immediately, they may very well push him back out, but he has to try to get back in. I don't think they're allowed to block out of bounds anyway so he could come back in and they can push him out again.

Steve Belichick licking his lips and sticking his tongue out while rocking the worst mullet in history gave me serious creeper vibes ha
