They will know today and a plan will be implemented.

Thanks for the insight I pray for the kid its not season ending. That'd just be so harsh to have to overcome the same thing for 2 straight years mentally and physically

Results from an MRI literally take place on the computer screen as it is scanning.
August 26th, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
Radiologist can read them immediately, so, call it an hour. Then that report I assume goes to the training staff and as UMBig states, a plan will be laid out...today.
August 26th, 2018 at 2:45 PM ^
MRI today. I dropped an update on The Wolverine Lounge with Brandon Justice.
August 26th, 2018 at 2:49 PM ^
If he's having an MRI, a broken bone seems pretty unlikely, unless we're dealing with a bad Lisfranc, in which case...we're not seeing him again this year
August 26th, 2018 at 2:54 PM ^
That's right. Increments the odds that they are focused on soft tissue. Not that soft tissue injuries can't be equally lame impediments.

Flashbacks to Hart's high ankle sprain
August 26th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
If it is a 6-8 week injury, I think we can weather the storm. You assume Nico Collins slides in, and given his recruiting rankings / offers, he's very talented. If Black is back my mid-October he will still be a factor for some of our biggest games.
August 26th, 2018 at 2:53 PM ^
depends on ligamentous injury or simple bone fracture. Foot injuries come in all forms. Lets wait for proper scans and lets see. Very unfortunate to have happened at this time, but it could be the sort that you heal from and require no surgery. If ORIF required then this season is done for him.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
thats the one thing I hope is not required. if surgery is required he's done for the season

Love having orthopods here to drop some knowledge.

Can we all agree mineral king is a troll?
I knew we could.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:35 PM ^
your post has to be said in a 'mr. rogers' voice.
August 26th, 2018 at 5:42 PM ^
I am trying to imagine the "real" Red Greene doing the Mr Rogers voice. Can't make it work, Mr Rogers would never say duct tape.
August 26th, 2018 at 2:57 PM ^
Do they give Hawkins and Thomas a look for some depth? Both have some experience,no?
August 26th, 2018 at 2:59 PM ^
Yes, one or both will probably be working with the WRs going forward
August 26th, 2018 at 3:54 PM ^
Hot take: You're the biggest clown on this thread and a disgrace to all "Kevbos."
August 26th, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^
OK cranky old man.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
between the 2 id say ambry
August 26th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
Based on the evidence so far, I'm making the call that it's just a simple sprain and he will actually be 50-50 for the Notre Dame game.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:13 PM ^
Possible but unlikely. More likely its a fx and ruling out lig. with MRI
August 26th, 2018 at 3:16 PM ^
Dude, we are trying to be optimistic here!
August 26th, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
Sam dropped a note. The way I read it is his foot is broken and is 6 weeks pending MRI which could put him out 10. Nico is up now and Sam said he thinks he is our breakout star.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:24 PM ^
I think this is very accurate.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:34 PM ^
Fuck
August 26th, 2018 at 3:39 PM ^
6 weeks is workable. That puts his return just in time for the tough part of the schedule starting with Wisconsin. 10 weeks puts him back for Indiana for a quick tuneup before OSU. It's not the end of the world but means we can't afford an injury to DPJ or Collins.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
I believe Nico could be a breakout star as well. He has freakish length for a WR and has a year in the program under his belt. Outside of the obvious depth factor with Black being out, it should be ok.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:29 PM ^
This is all a smokescreen to divert our attention from the really big story - Jeff George Jr. transferring out! That is devastating news!
August 26th, 2018 at 3:45 PM ^
6-8 weeks....
August 26th, 2018 at 3:50 PM ^
Thanks for the post ! Not surgical probably. Heal up Tarik. Think we get him for meat of schedule :)
August 26th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
Is this the final diagnosis or pre-MRI?
August 26th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
But Yoder was 99% sure it was season-ending.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
He’ll say he was right—it WAS season-ending. Baseball season.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:23 PM ^
LOL now he's saying he's certain its not season ending.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:53 PM ^
Thank God it's not worse. I feel terrible for him
August 26th, 2018 at 3:57 PM ^
Crap.
Well, it's better than 10-12 weeks, that's for sure.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
that's not so bad
August 26th, 2018 at 5:06 PM ^
Drink a lot of milk Tarik!
August 26th, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
6 to 8 weeks means 5 to 7 games... fingers crossed for a return against Wisconsin which is 7 weeks from yesterday.
August 26th, 2018 at 5:33 PM ^
Please be just six and back for Wisconsin and MSU and a critical run for the Big Ten East.
August 26th, 2018 at 5:30 PM ^
6-8 sucks but I feel better for Tarik that he possibly has a chance to come back and play half the season.
August 26th, 2018 at 6:09 PM ^
Great news. We’re going to be fine. Collins and Martin will step up to the plate. We’ve got so much WR and TE talent we can manage this. Feel bad for Tarik and if he gets back healthy by PSU we’ll have him for the meat of our schedule, the B1G championship, and the playoff!
August 26th, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
WR is paper thin right now. One more injury to a WR and we're in trouble.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
Agree, Perry is solid, but will never be a game breaker. DPJ should be a solid player if he takes a step forward, he was sloppy as a route runner and in need of coaching. The rest are unknowns.
Really liked Crawford and thought he and McDoom had a great chance to take big steps forward and we’re good fits for more spread concepts if that’s what we are going to. Ideally you want 6 guys at WR to contribute. Without Black we will need 4 unknowns to step up.
Anything more in Gary?
August 26th, 2018 at 4:26 PM ^
Gary isn’t seriously hurt and those unknowns will become known soon enough.
August 26th, 2018 at 5:14 PM ^
What did you like abiut Crawford?! I saw and if I'm remembering correctly, nothing last year that gave promise of him being worthy of being on the field.
August 26th, 2018 at 5:33 PM ^
Some like every WR that is not playing for Michigan.
August 26th, 2018 at 6:47 PM ^
Crawford was an excellent blocker and on more than one occasion got open deep like against MSU.
August 26th, 2018 at 5:33 PM ^
If Crawford and McDoom were good enough to make the 2-deep, they would still be here. We know that M at least tried to get McDoom to stay - do not know either way for Crawford.
If you recruit “alphas” you are going to have a hard time keeping those that aren’t playing — unless you are contending for championships on a regular basis and/or have the NFL pedigree that OSU/‘Bama currently offer. (I think we are building to this..).
As Ace said in the 2017 recruiting podcast... “In any normal recruiting class Nico Collins would be the crown jewel at WR and instead he is the 4th or 5th person we are talking about” (they were still counting Hawkins as a WR at that time). None of the 2016 kids except maybe Mitchell — before his hands pushed him to D and other things pushed him out the door — had the game-changer potential that any of the 4 -2017 kids have and thus they have decided to leave. Too bad Kurt Taylor wasn’t born into a WR’s frame...
