For F suck, I get it’s a rivalry game, but how can Penn Stare in Columbus keep them to 28 in an entire game, and we give up 21 already? I’m pretty sure at this point we will never beat OSU again. Day has no reason to leave and Harbaugh can’t beat OSU so who will. Whatever.

What in the F is that from…

What in the F is that from Kemp? Now can we not only not stop their run game knowing that’s all they want to do, now we look like the cheap shot OSU team. Every year we just look worse and worse and worse in some capacity.

I sure as hell hope we have…

I sure as hell hope we have a few makeup calls later considering they’re letting Okudah hamstring our receivers before the ball even gets there. Typical calls against us in this game.

Yes it’s called the Andy…

Yes it’s called the Andy Katzenmoyer General Studies degree.

USC is an upgrade over…

USC is an upgrade over Columbus.  They poop in Yeti coolers compared to Walmart coolers.

Capping wont solve anything…

Capping wont solve anything.  Just more creative accounting on the SEC bag men's parts, and I'm guessing with their levels of income, that's not an issue.  Private planes for everyone.

Yeah, SEC / ACC accounting…

Yeah, SEC / ACC accounting and NCAA auditing, I'd think more along the line of The Wolf of Wall Street accounting / reporting principles.

umbig11, is there a…

umbig11, is there a different vibe in the building this year?  Seems like several of the past years there's been optimism, but this year feels different.  Is it that Meyer isn't at OSU, we just have all the pieces finally falling in place, or a combination?  Thanks for all of your insight.

Very true.  Hoping Ryan Day…

Very true.  Hoping Ryan Day leaves Ann Arbor feeling like he just had a colonoscopy.

I think Gattis is going to…

I think Gattis is going to do amazing things with the pieces we have in place and actually use them suited to their skill set.  Not to mention a great line with actual depth.  I get the concerns on defense, but we have to remember Don Brown had top nationally ranked defenses at Boston College.  Not exactly pulling in the same recruits Michigan is.  I'm as pessimistic as anybody when is comes to OSU as I live in the land where everyone does that stupid OHIO chant at every bar, but by most accounts we've just been out-athleted by OSU up until this point.  Harbaugh's finally had several of his own classes, which have been top 10 and we're closing the gap.  I really think this is the year.

I hate ever getting my hopes…

I hate ever getting my hopes up but if Sharty is still within two scores at this point in the game with literally the offense hurting their game, I like our chances with our defense and a Patterson led offense against OSU.

Wow, there's ineptitude then…

Wow, there's ineptitude then there's MSU's offense.  Joel Klatt makes it sound like OSU is just grinding out this victory, but I'm pretty sure MSU is literally handing them the game via Rocky Lombardi.  Can you throw any more of a laser pitch for a toss to a running back?  This is just ugly.

Given we had the MooN game…

Given we had the MooN game against Northwestern a few years ago, and me living in a large farming community, to see MSU and OSU at halftime potentially being 0 - 0, it'd be great to have the MOOO game.

I am.  Looking across the…

I am.  Looking across the board I'm very confident.  Environment aside, we have more advantages in my eyes.  Wimbush appears to be what he is, a running QB / arm punt QB, which may be able to be compensated by great WR's, but their primary weapons from last year are gone.  Sprinkle in our front 7 and them breaking in a few new starters, and Wimbush will have to play like a Heisman QB.  Atleast Patterson's track record / scouting says one of his biggest strengths is his accuracy, and I'd argue he's close to as mobile and shifty as Wimbush. Give me Patterson.  Looking at depth chart, our RB's are better than theirs, and I'd argue our TE's and WR's are as well.  Our D should be better than theirs as well, given the accolades our players are receiving, and given they were the # 3 D in the nation a year ago with so much inexperience.  Arm punt QB with limited experienced weapons vs. our D, compared to an experienced QB who was the top rated QB a few years ago with a system built for him.  Yes, I get it's his first year in the system and the line has questions, but by all accounts the line is better and I'd take our coaching staff over theirs in a hot second to maximize the game plan to limit the lines weaknesses.  Unless there is the typical ND / Mich tomfoolery and home environment, I really do not see an advantage for them.

I'm sure the Powell police…

I'm sure the Powell police department will do a thorough investigation and eventually find that there is a terminology change to make sure Meyer is unscathed.

I believe Nico could be a…

I believe Nico could be a breakout star as well. He has freakish length for a WR and has a year in the program under his belt. Outside of the obvious depth factor with Black being out, it should be ok.

If it is a 6-8 week injury,…

If it is a 6-8 week injury, I think we can weather the storm.  You assume Nico Collins slides in, and given his recruiting rankings / offers, he's very talented.  If Black is back my mid-October he will still be a factor for some of our biggest games.

Agree, I can see a curb…

Agree, I can see a curb stomp in ND.  They do not have the offense to deal with our defense and I think Brown will have some special packages dealt up for them.  I also like the confidence I've heard from Patterson in recent interviews.  Sounds like he's very aware of the expectations and it doesn't faze him at all, he embraces it.  Some QB's you could think it's just talk, but he's a young QB who had success in the SEC, so I don't think it's lip service from him.

I agree that many of us may…

I agree that many of us may develop expectations which aren't balanced, but look at the pre-season All American lists to back up our optimism.  Pending injuries of course, I'd have a hard time finding a better team on paper / past few years than ours within the scope of Michigan football.  It's been well documented that really the only negative for our team the last few years has been the offense.  You bring in a 5 star transfer in Patterson who did well in the SEC with being a young QB, you have 2 dynamic RB's, great tight ends, a young WR group who flashed potential last year that masks their 4 and 5 star rankings, and an O-Line with a ton of talent / potential that now has a very respected O-Line coach who's simplified things for them.  That's why I don't think it's a stretch to think we have a legitimate shot at the national title. I mentioned in an earlier thread about the comparisons to the 2006 team, and if it wasn't for a late hit call in Columbus (sounds very familiar given the 2016 ending) we win that game and have a shot at the national title.  No reason to believe this team can't do it.

There's no reason it can't…

There's no reason it can't happen.  We should have arguably the best defense in the country.  Very similar in that regard to 2016, when the only thing that held us back was a banged up Speight at the end of the year.  Our QB room is much better this year and Patterson is a very dynamic QB.  I'd also argue that the WR's and RB's are better than in 2016, in terms of big play potential.  The offense just has to be ok and not make mistakes for us to win probably 9 games, if it goes to even the good to above average level, I could see this being a national championship type of team.  To me this team feels very similar to the 2006 team.  Elite defense, good offense.

Please someone be-friend…

Please someone be-friend Zach Smith and find a way to get their hands on his phone.  God knows he's too dumb to delete the evidence.  He probably has the lewd White House pics as his wallpaper.

I wish but I doubt it. …

I wish but I doubt it.  Courtney has probably disclosed what she has.  Common sense and the facts should have canned Meyer and damage OSU, but it doesn't look like it now.  The investigative committee basically said his first inclination when he heard about the situation was to delete old text messages, you have the Powell police department re-creating police reports, and OSU giving Gene Smith the equivalent of a 4 week vacation for all of this.  It's just a joke, I hope it's not over, but it's hard to believe it's not when this kind of bullshit happens.  It'd be great if there's some tech expert / journalist out there that could somehow get Meyer's old messages retrieved.  I can only imagine the pot of gold those would hold, probably enough so to bring down the Florida and OSU athletic departments.

Yeah, I almost think in the…

Yeah, I almost think in the national media this would backfire.  Most of those outlets have skewered Meyer because he atleast could have done the right thing at this point and apologized to Courtney, but didn't.  Now, 2 days later, when he was calculating in between his memory lapses how the common sense public would take his speech the other night, he comes out and POSTS a scripted OSU PR department apology, because they all realized what a bullshit look that was the other night.  It's unbelievable how stupid Meyer and OSU think the general public is that we're unable to see through their shit. Him and Zach should really keep talking and keep this going, because the more they talk, the dumber this sounds.

Yeah, I don't see many more…

Yeah, I don't see many more de-commits coming.  These are 17 and 18 year old kids and I doubt their primary focus is domestic abuse.  They see how much Meyer wins and that OSU is very successful on the football field / gets alot of kids to the NFL, and that's what they're probably focused on given most of the kids they recruit are 4 star / 5 star types that realize they have a good chance to make the league.  The parents only have so much say and they probably have two sets of parents, the ones that could care less about the moral aspect and believe it's their child's best bet to get to the league, and the ones who care about morality, but only have so much say as it's still ultimately their kids choice.

Shit, they're basically…

Shit, they're basically saying Meyer has selective memory?  This is actually very good news for me, with living in Ohio and having a wife that's an OSU fan, I've got the eternal get out of jail free card during arguments as I can now say I suffer from the same dire diagnosis as Urban Meyer.

Based on Zach's Amazon…

Based on Zach's deliveries to OSU, he really is trying to F all the Smith's, in multiple, unusual ways.

Still hope someone does more…

Still hope someone does more digging into the Powell police department, given what seems to be unusual circumstances with the way too coincidental timing of the police report change 3 years later.  Are the decision makers on this somehow related to the Bruce family?  Is anyone tied to Zach Smith?  Everything just stinks too bad.  If terminology change really is the reason, then there should be a full scale investigation of their "arrest" records from the last several years just to make sure some average joe isn't entitled to basically have his record cleared due to terminology changes.

Hopefully some journalism…

Hopefully some journalism student runs with the story of the Powell police department.  The excuse that "terminology changed" is pretty drastic to say something like, employment and background checks?  One minute you've been arrested, but all of a sudden 3 years later you're now vindicated due to terminology?  Wow.  Glad to know someone's record can flip to the good as long as your well connected in Columbus with the OSU inner circle.

You would think, but somehow…

You would think, but somehow OSU will come out unscathed.  What other university has 3 major scandals going on right now?  And yet, everyone will probably turn a blind eye to OSU.  It is unbelievable.

Not to mention he took the…

Not to mention he took the team into Columbus in 2016 with a broken Speight at QB and came within a few, questionable bullshit inches, to beating OSU in Columbus.

I completely agree.  In 2015…

I completely agree.  In 2015, 2016, and 2017, Andrew Luck wasn't walking through that door.  Harbaugh won 10 games in 2015 and 2016 with average at best QB play.  Now he may have his Andrew Luck in Patterson.  How about we wait to condemn him until we see what he does with a legitimate top QB.  Just an honest question for those questioning Harbaugh after his first few years, if you feel he underwhelmed, what coach do you think we should have brought in that would have done better?  Honest question.

It's funny, I read an…

It's funny, I read an article somewhere probably a week ago, that said Smith was going to ask for his job back when he had his meeting.  That's a different level of arrogance when you think you're so above everything that you think you're clean enough to keep your job in a scandal, when it hasn't quite been revealed yet about your "special" deliveries and "extra-curricular" activities.  Did he really believe that being associated with Meyer / OSU would put him on some untouchable mantle?  The Meyer / scarlett and gray kool aid runs very deep.

I agree, he's basically…

I agree, he's basically answering to himself at this point.  I've read some articles where they've questioned his motivation against Urban Meyer.  Let's see, you dribble some information, large investigation begins.  You wait to hear how it plays out, and possibly drop another bomb after conclusion, to make a bigger story.  This is journalism, the bigger the story, the more attention you get.  Why if you're McMurphy, play all your cards at once?  Makes no sense if you have that much information and can drag it out / possibly make a bigger story, which is better for your long term reputation / career path.  For crying out loud, the Freep tried to crucify the Michigan program over extended practice times and make that the story of the century.

I agree, I have to believe…

I agree, I have to believe McMurphy has one more card up his sleeve.  I have a hard time believing that he would play all of his cards until he saw where everything ended up. I'm not in journalism, but would have to believe there would be nothing sweeter than dropping a bigger bombshell once OSU has done their investigation and cleared Urbz of everything or gave him a slap on the wrist.

Not to mention, with my wife…

Not to mention, with my wife being an OSU fan, we had a discussion over the weekend when it was revealed by McMurphy that Zach Smith was doing what he was doing in the way of the affair / white house / sex toy delivery.  I implied that this could be damning to Meyer as well and she basically implied that has nothing to do with Meyer.  My wife is pretty intelligent, so it just goes to show how deeply OSU fandom goes.

We should all take into…

We should all take into consideration, the "Columbus" dispatch.  Might as well be the "Powell" police report that isn't available to anyone.  I take anything within about 100 miles of radius of Columbus to err on the side of OSU as they pretty much all drink the scarlett and gray kool aid and will do anything to put a positive spin on the situation.

I agree and read an…

I agree and read an interesting article today.  Talking about how Warriner took Billy Price and Pat Eflein (not sure of the spelling thanks to Bud Light), who were not highly ranked recruits and turned them into good draft picks (I believe the article said Price was a defensive tackle who wasn't panning out on that side).  Whereas atleast with the Michigan line he's working with experience / alot of 4 star types who were recruited as offensive line prospecs.  Honestly, if the Defense plays even close to their potential and the O-line is even ok and Shea is Shea the last 2 years, we'll be fine.

She's attractive, has a good…

She's attractive, has a good personality, and is a good mother, but yes, she is a Buckeye.  Given my name, i live in Ohio so basically your only option is an OSU fan.  I did meet her in Toledo, so my initial hope was possibly she was a Michigan fan, but no such luck :(  I live about 2 hours south now and every time we get a new neighbor that's not local, my first question is if they're an OSU or Michigan fan, but so far, no luck.  We just got new neighbors from California so I'm hopeful.

Not to mention that…

Not to mention that supposedly some of this information was coming from an ex-mother in-law and a mother who has a estranged relationship with her daughter.  What's next, claiming Courtney stole Zach's phone to type in the responses to strangling her?  The OSU fan base will never cease to shock me.  And I'm married to one!

Obviously in no particular…

Obviously in no particular order like any good game show.

I hope there is some…

I hope there is some journalism student out there that is ambitious enough to pursue this.  I mean, just yesterday, I saw a story posted about him that now basically portrays player abuse while at Florida.  I hope some kid out there sitting in Journalism 101 right now is saying "Geez, if I dig just a little bit, I might be able to uncover the college sports story of the decade due to corruption and blatant disregard / ignorance at two of the most well know universities in the country".  The kind of story that makes your career.  If I wasn't so set in my career and turning the big 40 this year, I would seriously contemplate going back to school for a journalism degree and unearthing that gem.

Counterstrike source?

Counterstrike source?

I don't know, part of me…

I don't know, part of me wants him canned now which would be more than appropriate.  However, part of me wants OSU to hold onto him so investigators can dig further.  I've been basically paroosing the internet for anyting Urban Meyer related and I saw something today that now there are allegations of player abuse from his coaching days at Florida.  I don't know that a place like OSU, which probably realized there were some skeletons in the closet but rather opted for wins at the time, are wanting revealed now through an investigation.  Not to mention in the court of public opinion, if they keep him as coach, can you imagine the interviews he's going to face?  Plus, every up an coming reporter is now going to delve into everything Urban Meyer, University of Florida football program, and Ohio State. I'm guessing OSU has some things they don't want public and getting dug up, especially with the swimming team scandal going on right now.  OSU has probably been paying their PR department hazard pay since Tressel and alot of people are getting raises about now.

It's absolutely awful what…

It's absolutely awful what happened at MSU, but as sad as it is, with the NCAA, it seems like the bigger fish gets attention.  We got hit with that stupid over practice ru;e and it was everywhere because we're Michigan.  Sparty can have the biggest chip on their shoulder, but in the big scheme of universities / visibility to the NCAA, they're not on par with Michigan or OSU.  There will be much more media eyes on OSU's allegations then MSU's and public / media will keep a close eye.  I have a hard time believing OSU will be able to just sweep this under the rug like basically MSU did.  It's just awful for the victims no matter what the circumstances.

I get the general sentiment…

I get the general sentiment that we're not getting as much insider info, but one thing I've always loved about this site is it's free and we get pretty good insight info.  Anybody wanting to complain is more than welcome to pay to join one of the premium pay sites.  I've always been gracious for this site offering as much insight, if not more, than what you're going to get by paying for the so called inside info.

Agree.  Not only should…

Agree.  Not only should Patterson be very good, he's got a ton of weapons and we have depth across the board.  This season for me boils down to the offensive line.  I'm optimistic considering you have experience, highly rated guys on the interior (Bredeson, Ruiz, and Onwenu) and the main question coming at tackles.  If Warriner has the same effect he's had at previous coaching stops, this line could actually be very good and give us flashbacks to the mauling days of Michigan lines.

This is the main reason I'm…

This is the main reason I'm so optimistic about this year compared to the last two years.  Speight was probably pretty banged up for the OSU game, and if so, probably explains some of the turnovers if he's tentative.  But his backup has been O'Korn and a very young Peters.  Fast forward to this year and you have 5 star Shea Patterson with a few years of collegiate experience in a very tough conference, his backup would probably be Peters, who was a highly ranked recruit and looked decent last year given his inexperience, then McCaffrey, which I remember reading some reports saying he's ahead of Peters, so there's that, then your fourth string is Milton, which even though a freshmen, everything I've read makes it sound like he's even in the conversation for possibly next year already.  I don't remember a recent stretch where I've felt confident in the 2nd string guy, let alone going 3 or 4 deep.
