It would be really good to see you back up your dislike for Jay with some actual facts.   There are any number of decisions to criticize Jim Harbaugh about at this point, Jay seems to have proved he can be a good position coach at this level.   Other than the nepotism angle, do you have any evidence to suggest that he is a weak link on the coaching staff?

Mike Hart is a good recruiter, has recruiting connections and had a freshman RB Stevie Scott almost match what Higdon did this season in yardage.

Rather have him. Rather also still have Wheatley.

RB pass blocking has gone downhill since Wheatley left.

Yeah I really don't understand the vitrol towards Jay Harbaugh on this board at all.

Sure, he is Jim's son.. he also recruited some great players including Charbonnet and had a running back produce the first 1,000 yd rushing season since 2011.

Jay Harbaugh is making positive contributions to the program. I don't know what else this faction of the fan base would like from him.

All the bucknuts who snuck into their local library and had someone help them get on Twitter claim that our coaches' schemes are excellent, it's our players that suck too much to run them. I hadn't considered that our dline consisting of 5 and 4 stars was so much less talented than their dline consisting of 5 and 4 stars

No, I'm pretty certain that's not what it meant.

Kevin Durant left Oklahoma City to go to Golden State because he wanted to join a championship team and win more championships.  He has been reviled by many NBA fans and some members of the media for that, who think it shows a lack of character, and also is bad for the NBA because it destroys parity.  It was meant to be a swipe at Mattison, but I'm guessing he didn't think it entirely through, since the implication is that Ohio State will continue to win championships and Michigan won't, which (I presume) is why he deleted it.

If we are speculating re: Durant I'd say you are WAYYYY overthinking it and it's about the rich getting richer.

Black also tweeted "Imagine if a player did this" or something along those lines, which, they can't because coaches would never allow them to transfer within the conference.  The hypocrisy is real - and I'm not blaming Mattison at all - just pointing out that systemically the NCAA (and schools) continue to limit what the players (unpaid) can do but not the adults making millions.

Have to say Mattison has always been my favorite assistant and the one guy I "knew" had high character and was an ultimate Michigan guy based on the way he swallowed his pride, took a demotion to DL Coach, and kept busting his ass to contribute towards top defenses under Durkin and Brown.  I'm now questioning everything I ever thought to be certain.

What's weird is I didn't even know who Washington was until he joined our staff.  He obviously is a successful coach and recruiter, but it is possible that the next coach Harbaugh hires will be someone I don't know who is successful and a great recruiter.  Most likely Yes.

This is very bizarre. Can anyone remember when rivals swapped coaches like this? I know Bo and woody had similar philosophies and coaches together

Yes, it's really cynical behavior on the part of the coaches. Blah blah it's a business blah blah you take a raise and promotion where you can. These coaches have been drilling these kids on how important the rivalry is for years, asking them to put their bodies on the line. And then what do they do? Just shitty stuff man.

"These coaches have been drilling these kids on how important the rivalry is for years, asking them to put their bodies on the line."

Not to mention all the times over the last 8 years I've heard Greg Mattison blabber on about how special and awesome and tremendous the University of Michigan is.

Apparently, all that flies out the window when enough money or a promotion is dangled by our most bitter rival.

If Mattison was 48 like he was in '96 when he went to ND, it would be a bit more understandable to me—you're in the prime of your coaching years then. But at 70? To coach in a position he's already done before?
