Nova brought its A game vs KU.  18-40 from deep.  Michigan needs to keep made 3's in the single digits and will need to shoot the ball really well to win.  It can happen and Beilein will have them ready.  GO BLUE!!

That's it too. That's their game. Their kickout passes is what they live off of. Step in the lanes, contest the penatration the best you can and bring it home. It's really simple. They are thee prime example of a team that will live and die by the three. There's nothing more to know. Take that game away, come ready to make shots and win the damn game boys!!! Go Blue!!!

I'm just happy to be able to watch this one at home. In 2013 I watched on bdubs with my buckeye roommate. Monday I'll be at home with my family and my parents in town. Should be a lot more fun, especially when we win!

I've never seen us win a title in one of the Big 3. I'm hoping this is my (our) year. No one is going to give us a prayer of beating Nova which is the position I love to be in. We can do this!

We got a puncher’s chance and we only have to beat them once.

Villanova tonight was basically us against Texas A&M. We need them to come down to earth a bit and we need to obviously shoot better, but I am telling you there is a chance.

Rob Gray scored 39 the game BEFORE he played us. Richardson from Loyola was 6/7 from 3 the game BEFORE he played us. I am just saying we have a chance.

People saying Nova just had a hot shooting night tonight hasn't watched them all year or in this tourney. Nova is deep, physical, and fearless. 6 or 7 dudes can beat you on any given night. I really wish Kansas would have found a way to win bc I am not confident in our abilities to beat Nova. Jay Wright is an UNREAL coach.

Yes, but Villanova did have a hot shooting game tonight, especially in the first half.  It was basically back-and-forth after the opening 22-4 spurt, and Villanova shot 35% from 3 in the second half.  They're 40% on the year.

Playing a little what-if... Villanova took 65 shots from the field and was 5/7 from the line.  They were 72% (18/25) from 2 and 45% (18/40) from 3.  On the year, they're 59% from 2 and 40% from 3.  If you adjust these makes -- and, for simplicitly, assume no new offensive rebounds -- they'd drop to 15/25 from 2 and 16/40 from 3 -- that drops their point total to 83 and makes for a competitive 83-79 final.

Now, here's the rub.  40% from 3 and 60% from 2 are the exact same eFG% (60%).  So, while running Villanova off of the 3-point line will help, Michigan is also going to need to contest those shots or it won't be enough to make a difference.  Michigan is allowing opponents to shoot 46.6% from 2.  Suppose Michigan is able to pull Villanova down to the midpoint between 46.6% and 59%, or 52.8%.  Further suppose theyr're able to limit the number of Villanova 3-pointers to 29.8% of attempts (in line with Michigan's season average)...

Now, Villanova goes 8/20 from 3, 24/45 from 2, 5/7 from the line... 77 total points, and suddenly it looks tractable.

Anybody who argues that Villanova "just" had a hot shooting game is likely guilty of the shallow analysis you're asserting.  But it's still true that they did have a hot shooting game tonight.

Great opportunity in front of Beilein's boys on Monday night! I expect some lock down defense, and a symphony of smooth and silky offense from the Maize and Blue! 5 down, 1 more to go!
