Beat UCLA....Men's Bball hosts UCLA thread

We know this at this point...but our new favorite saying rings true, it's getting late early. A sort of must win on the hardwood this afternoon! Kenpom has us a 3 point favorite. We'll see about that. As it often does with our Beilein coached teams if we can just make the open looks (3s) we can take this thing. Also of preference, not going stagnant like we did Monday night in the 2nd half. Go Blue.

I can see why Beilein trusts Simpson down the stretch.  He's gotta shoot better, but he does provide some disruptions on defense you don't get with other guys.

For one thing, Michigan does have some good free throw shooters on the team. For another thing, Alford could clearly see that his team wasn’t going to score 9 points in one minute against that Michigan defense even if they were playing winner keeps. They scored 4 points in five minutes of overtime.

being down 15, especially after dropping the last game after being up 20.

This team doesn't quit - they just need to put it all together for both halves.

Great win for the good guys - Go Blue!

I do like Beilein with a tiny bit of shade that they did everything to lose this game and still pulled it.  My personal animus toward UCLA and Alford made that a little fun.

Didn’t see that as throwing shade at UCLA — more like he was as disappointed with the team for the first 30 minutes as the posters on this thread. I wa surprised to hear him omit the “Coach Alford has a great team, and they played their hearts out” coachspeak though...

Well they did a good job on making haters like me shut up. Finally did to a team what teams have been doing to us all year. Finished on a 47-23 run after having only scored 31 points up to that point. Went from a pathetic outing to a quite remarkable one. It's like a light bulb just finally went off on offense. It was like watching two completely separate teams. Good on them for not giving up. Just too damn inconsistent.

Much needed win after the collapse at OSU. Still so much work to do for this team. As Beilein said, did everything they could to lose. If this was a road game we would have lost by 15-20. Gotta get better.

If Z is just contributing something on offense, which he was in the last 10 minutes there, you can see how the pieces fit together.  At least against teams that run through their PG, because he is fucking obnoxious defensively.
