Arizona has fired Sean Miller
I am shocked!
Miller had a higher winning percent at AZ than he had at Xavier before. What did they expect? That he would outperform his previous record in the Big East?
Probably didn't expect Christian Dawkins' help. Didn't expect DeAndre Ayton and his $100,000 price tag to be public information. They definitely expected that money and risk to get them more than an 11-9 record in the Pac 12.
Xavier was still A-10 in the Sean Miller era.
Which increases your point further.
I was shocked to find out he was there for 12 years, man does time really fly by.
LSU, your on the clock, your turn....
They might as well fire Wade for cause and then hire Sean Miller. He has to be a better coach (heck my mom is a better coach than Wade) and he can probably cheat better than Wade too.
He's already much better at doing what should arguably be out in the open. Well, for one, he never got caught on tape admitting to any of it. With all the training and help available at LSU on the proper chain of command when compensating players, you would have thought it was impossible.
Not for his shady dealings, but for poor results. Way to go Arizona! Sean just didn't cheat effectively enough.
For real, I don't understand why they kept him for so long. Seemed like they had more than ample evidence to fire him for cause years ago.
Wow!! I really thought he was next in line for a lifetime contract.
There's a blue blood you really don't hear about anymore.
They were terrific during the 25 year Lute Olson tenure but weren't great before that. After that, like most of the PAC 12 schools, I think they've been hurt by the bad television contract the conference has. Miller certainly had a couple of excellent years but it seemed like he was dead man walking since the Ayton fiasco.
Not a great year for the Miller brothers.
Beat me to it. What about Beilein joining Don Brown in Tucson?
Beilein is too good for that program. Seriously.
After everything they tolerated on Sean Miller's behalf, I have a hard time imagining Beilein looking at Arizona and saying to himself "Yep, I definitely want to work for those people."
I mean Beilein did come here...after we cleaned out some skeletons in the closet. But people forget, Beilein said the reason he came to WVU & Michigan is because they had “good football programs” Arizona doesn’t fall into that category.
How funny would it be though if Arizona hired his brother? They probably won't though, I'm sure they already have feelers out for Will Wade.
Depends on their appetite for Miller lite.
Definitely less filling.
Juwan has opened the door for former players, specifically African-American coaches, to come back and coach their alma maters. My guess would be Damon Stoudamire is the next coach at Zona.
More than opening it, he pointed to the door and made sure everyone saw the door. He then built a door frame and resurrected a house around it. He will eventually have his name on this house.
"He will eventually have his name on this house."
I kinda hope you're right, but that's a lot of lifting to do, yet. I mean, Beilein didn't even get his name anywhere in the building. And now you're saying that our second year coach will have his name in front of Fritz Crisler's? So he's going to straight up bypass Cazzie Russell (you know - of 'the house that Cazzie built' fame)?
I dunno man... I loves me some Juwan, but he's got some work to do for that honor...
He was referencing the opening he created for former African -American alums coaching their former programs. Not in reference to his standing as a Michigan great.
Idk about Damon though. He has only had 1 winning season in 5 years.
I vote they hire Dan Hurley just to watch the Az-ASU rivalry get real weird.
For some reason I thought Miles Simon was a head coach somewhere.
I believe he’s an assistant in the NBA right now.
You hate to see it.....???
It couldn't have happened to a "nicer" guy. Will Wade, they're coming for you next.
Saving Private Miller
He's not living the High Life, is he?
What they should've done years ago. But they're not firing him because they finally grew a conscience. They're firing him because his teams aren't performing the way they used to.
If he was still reeling in top recruits and was contending for Final Fours he'd still be there. Shady dealings or not.
Jeezus... I know it's Tucson, but don't they have air conditioning in the arena?
It's a dry heat
I don't know that "dry" is an adjective that belongs anywhere near that particular picture :)
So's a blow torch.
Even more bizarrely, that game was in Providence, RI in March (a first round game vs. Wichita State). Not exactly July in the Sonoran Desert.
Not to mention that picture was taken less than 10 minutes into the game.
Dude needs some Carpe
Now that we have seen his sex face and listened to his intimate phone conversations...
I did not want to think about Sean Miller's O-face... Dammit, man!
I'd like to think the text on the team warmup shirts reads "ALWAYS DRIPPING" and it was the greatest inside joke ever...
The surest way to get fired for unethical behavior is to not win enough games.
Lulz bad month and a half for the Millers
Let this be a life lesson for all you youngsters out there......don't stop paying the 100k to the five stars even if the Feds are on to you.
Which brother gets the top bunk when they move back into their parent's basement?
Big time salary cap for a college team and still couldn't hang a banner.
took a minute, but that was the right outcome, albeit 2 years too late
