Any baseless Peppers speculation?

Submitted by taistreetsmyhero on

Peppers will get drafted in the top 5-15 if he leaves now, but he clearly still has a lot to prove. NFL teams may see his potential and believe they can fix his pass coverage deficiencies, or look at his stats superficially and see someone they can utilize more effectively on offense. But I think his game could still improve from another year at Michigan and this team clearly has more to prove on the field. Does this loss move the pendulum at all?

For us to reap the benefits?  Let's be real.  He has the ability and has been coached up at the college level.  He will be a full time pro next year getting 10 hours a day of training and video study.  That's more than anything he will get by staying another year at UM.

As a rookie, he will not come in and be expected to know everything, and the untapped potential you cite will be expoloited by a good NFL staff.

I love him too and want him to stay, but let's be real, he's ready for the pros both physically and mentally.

I agree he has the physical skills, the metal ability, and the work ethic to excel. However, I don't believe he's found a position yet, and perhaps another year under Brown -- who's adept at building that hybrid LB/S guy -- could help that. But, your incredulous reponse makes me think you didn't read my whole comment. As someone else quoted and agreed with, I said there's no reason NOT to learn and find a true position at which he excels while being paid in the NFL. If he were to come back, I think another year (heck, he could have another 2 years) would help him hone his tools. But, as it is, he more potential that production -- given that potential is so amazingly high -- IMO. Great, yes! But still has more potential that needs to be shaped.

Can you read? I said he have more development to do, but that he should go to the NFL where he'll get paid to develop. Why so salty? Of course I want him here, as a Michigan fan. But as Peppers fan, I know he needs this and his dream is right before him and he should grasp it.

He's gone. He's a top 10 to 15 pick. Has no reason to stay. People talk about "well, maybe he wants to win us a title." Yeah I'll take my millions of dollars and financial security over coming back and risking injury.

Go get your money, Jabrill.

I think he's gone forsure. Top 15 pick is about as good as a time to go as any, can't prove your way much higher honestly. I'm also pretty confident that he'll test well at the combine, so he should be assured to be a high pick.

Crazy to stay if he's a 1st or 2nd rounder. Take the cash, you must, A2 will be there when you're done.

Lewis is the one that's going to be the NFL star. Shutdown cover corner? Yes, please. $$$$

I'm as selfish as the next guy and would love to have him for another year, but i can't even act like it's the right decision. Even if next year he won the Heisman, is it worth risking injury, or at best putting off getting paid for a year to go from a top 5 pick to a top 2 pick?

We were robbed of his first year and only enjoyed 2 full seasons.  Best of luck to him in the NFL. His swagger and energy were contagious - hope we find that from other guys next year.

I would like him to focus on defense and special teams. His presense on offense has been good, but if he wants to develop as a player for the NFL, focus on where he excels. On defense. he is excellent in the secondary, but he does not have many interceptions. As a linebacker, he is excellent tackler and pass rusher, but he could benefit from an additional year. On special teams he has at least one KR TD and PR TD. More is better. He will be a finalist for the Heisman this year, and if he focuses next year, he can help fill in for Jourdain Lewis and provide foundation for the linebacker squad. On offense, he is a good running back or receiver, he is not playing Sunday on the offense everyday. Can he make a lot of money, if he goes pro this year, no question. However, we are going to lose a lot of defensive talent this year.

He's gone and honestly I don't even consider him as an all time great. Definitely did not live up to the hype. Dude gets talked up week after week, year after year, and yet his impact in games that matter has been minuscule.

You can see the elite athleticism. But yeah, he's been a little better than average as a LB since Big Ten play started. Great return man. Didn't do a lot on offense. It was a pleasure to watch him though. Really a blast as he'd have a jaw dropping athletic play or two every game, excellent player and an all America, never should have been in the Heisman conversation.

Solid player, super explosive and exciting at times. He can't control the hype around him but he was the one who said he wanted to make people forget about Charles Woodson by the time he was done. He'll never get there clearly and with him leaving he'll just be another good player that has made his way through but not a legend. Never quite fulfilled the potential on the field in a meaningful way. He had an impact in many games but just never got all the way there (like many of his exciting returns)

I hope he leaves, because it is the best decision for him personally.  In my opinion, once he is able to concentrate on a single position, he will be a much better defensive player.  I understand Michigan using him the way they did, because he is so much more talented than the other options, but in the NFL he won't have to play 15 positions, and he'll only have to excel at 1 (or 2 or 3 maybe).
