97.1 announces that Rico Beard will be new co-host with Mike Valenti

The only people that listen are Sparty fans, so why not add more Spartan trash.

Every show Rico Beard has seems to get cancelled after a few months. They rarely last very long. Maybe this is it for Valenti in this market.
His savior Mork was buried by Harbaugh. He then proceeded to trash Mork for staying too long and quickly became an OSU Fanboy as they beat us like a drum and it gives him some level of satisfaction and joy crapping on HArbaugh.
His, “yeah, MSU sucks, but UM can’t beat OSU” act, while true, has grown tiresome.
My gosh, this comment is so spot on I have to weigh in and endorse it.
LMAO of all the choices, they choose to just go double or nothing on MSU homers.
I think they are easing Beard in to be the sole host of that show. My brother lives a couple houses down from Valenti and he recently put his house on the market.

Interesting. Either he's buying something bigger, or he's moving back to new york. There were rumors about that a couple years ago, but maybe now covid pushed him over the edge. I feel like he recently signed a longer contract, but who cares.
I heard a rumor that Valenti's wife was seen having lunch at Lombardi's with a real estate agent.

Mad Dog has his own network on XM. His old partner Mike Francesca is the show Valenti was trying to get a couple years back...but the listeners didn’t care for him.
He had an audition and was panned by the listeners. He was using his asshole I don’t care schtick but was upping his NY accent and it came off as obnoxious
I recall seeing a house on Zillow last week and it had tons of Michigan State helmets and Spartan stuff in it over in Royal Oak. Checks out, it had one hell of a bar haha.
I thought he moved out of Royal Oak. I don't know if that was before or after the stalker.

With the diverse amount and availability of podcasts, no idea why anybody still listens to sports radio. Even Sam, I only listen to the portions I find interesting.

If there is a season I hope the Captain and the Coach is dead. Or they find another coach. Brian's meltdown last year on the Roundtable was epic.

Their target audience is the douchebag at work who has no true fandom for a team but just wants to poke you about yours.

Beard - "Mork left this program in shambles. Don't judge him on his shitty 1st recruiting class - we have to give Coach Tucker a chance."
The Sparty talk, combined with any self created "Harbaugh Hot Seat" conspiracy, will make most fans ears bleed. That show going nowhere fast...

Valenti is a joke. Refused to talk about the ass whooping Michigan gave MSU in football last year. Said he was only taking calls on the Lions that day.
It was the first Harbaugh win over Dantonio they couldn't pretend was closer than it was.
2016 "We almost came back and won that game with the worst team in the Dantonio era!"
2018 "Our defense finally just gassed, if we hadn't had a historically bad day on offense we were right there"
2019 ...got nothing. "We scored first!" maybe...

Why did they even need a co-host? I thought the current format with Valenti largely by himself and Mike Sullivan and David Hull chiming in from time-to-time was pretty solid.
I'd give this move a 2/10.
