3.5 Days Out - Rain in the Forecast

Submitted by smotheringD on November 22nd, 2022 at 11:24 PM

NOAA says weather forecasts are 80% accurate 7 days out and 90% accurate 5 days out.

So the odds are pretty good that we're going to have a slobberknocker in the rain.  And a 9 mph wind is a decent breeze as well.

I looked for something conclusive here and found ... nothing:

Way, way OT: Former Wolverine Patrick Kugler's dad, Sean, was fired by the Arizona Cardinals for some kind of "incident." He was the UT El Paso (UTEP) coach a few years ago.

Here we go again. Gravy on pasty? I can't help feeling that's a recent addition. No Cornish miner took a pasty in the mine for a meal and carried a jar of gravy. Part of the point of a pasty was its sealed construction meant it'd stay somewhat warm but gravy would inevitably be cold.

Or MAYBE you mean the use of "gravy"—common in parts of New York at least—to refer to spaghetti sauce.

Honestly, all this hope for shitty weather is a bad look for Michigan fans. It shows your fear and self doubt. We should be asking to beat them at their best game, hope they are at full strength and still run it down their throats. Go ahead and be bitchmade and do a rain dance, but that is some weak ass p$&@ys shit and you should be embarrassed and feel shame.

Please tell me more about getting a life as you tough talk a bunch of strangers online at 12:30 in the morning.

I don't care if half their team misses the game because they have diarrhea. No OSU fan is giving back wins over RR, teams with broken QBs, teams with no QB, etc. You think they're giving back the 2016 ref-aided win? Hell no.

Get over yourself. Take the win any way you can get it.

This.  Zero apologies from OSU for kicking the shit out of some of the worst UM teams with injured players.  OSU has had a better program for a considerable amount of time, no one is arguing that.  Hell even when Michigan was pounding Cooper it was usually in a spoiler role.  The "act like you have been there before crowd" or "let's win two in a row before we are alowed to even think of saying a word" is not how rilvaries work.  You win you get to pound your chest, you lose you have to take it and try again next year.

My kid is 20 and loves Michigan football, he still talks about how awesome last year was and is excited for Saturday.  He literrally "has not been here before" and is enjoying the ride.  Enjoy the ride, cheer your ass off, and hope you get another year of bragging rights.  No one will remember how you got there, just get there.

With respect to the fear and doubt, I think it’s the other way around. I feel like most Michigan fans believe Michigan can win in any weather, whereas Ohio is terrified of the forecast, because they can’t win in certain conditions. For us, it’s just an added benefit; for them, it’s everything.

I anticipate a lot of consistent marginal holding by OSU as their way of proving they're tough in the trenches, kind of like how Illinois did.

Narrative from ABC in Columbus from Wed AM. Looks like rain will be late in the game or not at all.

https://abc6onyourside.com/weather

This weekend we will have another round of rain and this round will have more rain. Saturday morning will start dry and chilly, mid 30s. We will have increasing clouds on Saturday and warm up to 54 for the high. Rain will return later on Saturday and each hour through the afternoon and evening the chance of rain will go up, but most rain looks to hold off until Saturday night and early Sunday.

Being a weather geek my whole life, I prefer to read the local NWS weather discussion.  They are saying rain late Saturday but not sure HOW late.  I wouldn’t count on rain for the game.  Discussion here for other fellow geeks.  Need to scroll down to the “long range” portion:
