After much deliberation, I have decided to forego the NFL and come back to Michigan for one last season. It’s my absolute honor to represent this university for one more season after everything it has done for me. Time to work pic.twitter.com/l8pb1Z4Chq
Winovich was an All Big Ten player to PFF after sharing the team lead in sacks with Khaleke Hudson with 8; he managed to outpace Hudson wsg Minnesota's Offensive Scheme in the TFL department with 18.5. His return means Michigan gets back 9 starters from the #10 S&P+ defense and should again expect to have a top ten—probably top five—defense in 2018.

I remember getting excited once before, right after a bowl loss to South Carolina, in fact, about a guy deciding to stay for his fifth year. That player was Taylor Lewan, and 2013 was a colossal shitshow.
I have legit hopes for something better this time around. Those Who Stay, indeed, Chase!

I think you are confusing honesty with pure speculation.

I didn't comment on all the 'What is Winovich going to do' type posts, but I thought he was gone. Happy to be wrong.

YES! Chase and Gary will be the best DEs in the nation next season. The defense should be great once again...Now figure out the offense.

I don't think the haters are the majority of the fan base, just the loudest.
But this is further proof that Harbaugh's players are behind him and want to be here. This is a huge message to recruits

Agreed. If he had decided to leave it would not have been a sure-fire indicator of bad team vibes-but the question would have remained. His staying is, to me, a significant indicator that the ship is not taking on too much water.

Wisconsin may still have the BIG10's best defense next year.
But Michigan's will be young but very experienced.

If I ever see Winovich downtown, his Big Time Burrito lunch is on me. He seems like BTB guy.
Simply thrilled that he's more stoaked about Michigan football and 2018 than I am and wants to stick around for more fun.

Huge mistake on his part. He benefited from all the double-teams put on Gary all year. You can bank money on Rashan leaving for the NFL after this dumpster-fire season. If he stays....his life will get harder on that D-Line.
