Visitors this weekend (Football)
RB, DE, DT, OL to verbal in the next 6-8 weeks.
Nice word - thanks! I had to look it up, and I like it...
Mournful day! That day of sighs, when from dust shall man arise, stained with guilt his doom to know. Sang it on monday, perform it in Hill Aud., April 21st. Huic ergo parce Deus. Ad Caeruleum! (Go BLue!)
Who's performing in Hill on April 21?
Tenor II here.
Magnus he looks like he's 28 years old and a prototypcial NFL tackle already.
I don't think getting visitors hasn't been an issue. Getting them to sign is the problem.
I'm curious on who will end up as the QB for this class. For a while it seemed like Phommachanh but it seems like he's favoring FSU. Maybe we could steal Tyson since Bama may want Taulia Tagovailoa, or they could just take both. The most likely candidate is probably Sam Johnson but maybe also Cade McNamara? In an interview he said he has a strong relationship with Harbaugh.
I forgot he was a QB. Keep thinking he's a WR for some reason.
a WR and QB in high school. Going into his Senior year he will probably be the full time QB. Can't really believe he will come to UM and compete with his brother for the job though.
I think M would line him up. His speed will increase and I am certain he'll be a fine receiver. I believe this is why OSU is offering him as QB, because they believe anyone that has or can will want to play there. I really don't think they'll be in the final four or five though. That's judging by his brother's choices and even his parents. They all were good enough to have that nice education paid for and each decided to take full advantage, Two grabbed great private school papers and one went for one of the tope three public schools. I think Luke will go the same way. Can't imagine all of them setting around discussing college and Luke chiming in about the challenges presented in Colombus. He'd be laughed out of the house.
I like McNamara. I like Phommachanh more, but I like McNamara too. I don't think Johnson is a great prospect.
What don't you like about him? And that's a generally curious question.
He's just another developmental guy. Maybe we're okay depth-wise and that's fine, but he doesn't excite me. He's got a decently strong arm, but he relies on that a little - he doesn't step into all of his throws. I haven't seen him make a lot of the standard 3-step routes with zip. He has to work on his mechanics. He just seems very "meh" to me. He seems like a poor man's McCaffrey honestly.
Can someone explain to me how Illinois is trending in a good way for Isiah Williams? Heist of the year if they pull that off
The talent tends to be in the Chicago area. Illlinois is far downstate from Chicago, in a completely different geographic and culttural region of the state.
It's "out of state" for all practical purposes.
If you are going to go to all the trouble to go down there, you might as well go out of state for real.
and Illinois should not be expected to get St. Louis kids given that Missouri, Louisville, Arkansas, Kansas, and Memphis are all also close and most of them have been better than Illinois in recent years.
Williams is from Missouri (St. Louis is right over the river from IL I know), but also Illinois doesn't produce that much talent - they're 34th in NFL players per capita, behind Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Washington, North Dakota.
The talent in Chicago is mediocre overall.
I think of Illinois (a.k.a. Chicago) as being more of a basketball-oriented location. There are some good athletes who come out of there (Ethan Pocic, Luke Ford, David Molk, etc.), but if the whole state were declared ineligible, I don't think it would affect college football a great deal.
Illinois did just land a top-100 ATH in Marquez Beason, but he's from Texas. I don't know how long that commitment will last...
They signed one of Beason's teammates last year. That highly rated DT. I see why he committed there early but yeah let's see if it lasts.
I doubt they'll be able to pull it off until signing day. Even if Williams committed right now, he's gonna be chased by every team until he signs and after seeing how Illinois football performs, I'd be surprised if any high 4 star chooses to stick with them.
They just hired his old coach, which is what they're banking on. Who knows, maybe that and a couple more wins this year to show progress does the trick. It would be nothing short of amazing for that program to land a top 75 recruit.

to end that one with "Nm"
should be used only when your subject line says it all.
I always enjoy seeing the Twitter pics and these teenagers enjoying Ann Arbor, the facilities and the visit with players and coaches. Must be such a blast for these young kids.
GO BLUE!!

So, was HARROD a Drevno recruit, or a new Warinner recruit?
Harrod was offered back in December when Drevno was still on board.
