Are game planning strengths of Warriner and McElwain? They have to be, right? Right?!
Any chance Warriner and Drevno would switch roles prior to spring?

It's not for me to decide. I will back whatever they decide.

I'm also not clear on Pep's role, but I think Drevno has had a lot on his plate basically being one of the OCs and OL coach. I think this helps him get back to focusing on the OL more.

well they're paying him $1 mil + to be a poor recruiter, OL developer and play caller so, yes?

Serious question: How can you reconcile the last sentence with the rest of your post? Nothing about this seems streamlined at all. Not trying to shoot the messenger, I guess I'm just confused.

Hopefully the roles are well-defined going into the year. We know when they're not Drevno has a history of winning power struggles against others on staff.

I don't think we could of asked for a better RB coach in the entire country either. That one still stings me. I bet our state of Michigan recruiting would have looked a lot better with him around too.

I like this. Up to now, we have not had a true OC with experience as an OC. Drevno and Pep are not experienced OCs. I guess Jedd was close and we had good experience with him. I really think that JM will help a lot.

Maybe Drevno was in over his head as a coordinator and will be again be a great o-line coach when focused on that. Maybe McSharklovin's offfense will look like the offense he ran with Grier, except with Patterson, who's even better! Maybe McSharklovin's rep for being a total asshole while at UF is totally overblown. Maybe Pep Hamilton doesn't deserve all the crap he gets here. Maybe Harbaugh really hasn't forgotten how to run a successful offense.

In the OP UMBig11 just said McElwain will be coming up with the game plans. He didn't say he was the OC or calling the plays during the games. I'm assuming game planning means studying the defense to come up with what their strengths and weaknesses are, what tendencies they tend to show in down and distance and field position, etc.

that's true, we could have a team full of sexual predators, racists, and felons while going 3-9.

wouldn't a pick 6/scoop and score fumble on every offensive play be worse?
February 19th, 2018 at 7:53 PM ^
And 90% of it will just be players developing because they were so young and having a healthy (hopefully) non O'Korn QB. I'm glad Harbaugh didn't blow up the whole thing. I think that would have just made things worse.

Hoke had little HC background and frankly sucked at it. RR had a lot of experience with a good record. But he ran a unique offense in a no-defense league. He was way ahead of his time, but other teams caught up with him and it seems that he did not update his approach.

Harbaugh's 12-1 season at Stanford was 8 years ago, a lot can change in football in 8 years. So it's possible other teams have caught up to him as well.
