MSU faculty: 61 - 4 Vote of No Confidence on board of trustees
MSU faculty held a formal vote of no confidence on the Board of Trustees. The vote was clear: 61 - 4. This was partially precipitated by the Board appointing Engler, rather than someone with real and impartial academic bona fides.
My observation is that despite Engler and some alumni and fan and student elements supporting Dantonio and Izzo, there is a large amount of anger over the whole issue. I really don't think this is going to go away and be swept under the rug.

other political issues. Take your pick. Staee has dropped from the collective attention span.
I was with you on Dantonio & Izzo getting booted - I'll believe it when I see it. Unless there is something ridiculously incriminating they're not going anywhere. Gnashing of teeth and impotent protests aren't going to do anything.
Congrats to the faculty though. Kinda feels like some half-ass country's legislative body voting no confidence on a dictator. Like Putin. Not going to change anything.

In Putin's Russia, Votes of No Confidence Take You!

Also: many may settle but there is no way all 100 settle or are dismissed. All it takes is one.

I'm not a lawyer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but it's very Macbethian -- (words) full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
The trustees are elected by the people; they don't report to the faculty. It's as meaningful as a Vote of No Confidence by the Michigan DNR would be regarding the Governor. I mean, it's hardly a good thing for them, but nobody's losing a paycheck.

They will ignore it and in a few days it means nothing

well, except for the fact there is video evidence of a player basically saying he was involved in a gang rape and yet no repercussions whatsoever. i'm still waiting for the details on the other alleged gang rape a few months earlier involving the assistant coach. again, without repercussions. those details will hopefully surface soon.

but i would wager izzo retires after this season. and if it gets too hot this summer, dantonio will resign before game 1 in the fall. both will "resign" before ever getting fired.

A constant drip drip drip will hurt MSU a lot more than the hammer coming down immediately. It really is better that Michigan not pile on. Let the thing run its course.

The faculty are correct here. University presidents are more than slap-dash problem-solvers culled from public-profile alumni. Engler has no institutional memory at Michigan State. He has no demonstrative qualifications to be a university president. The faculty were right to instinctively believe that there's no reason to expect a qualified interim couldn't have been brought out of the faculty until a permanent president could be found. And that's before you even take into account the extenuating circumstances of why this happened in the first place.

A faculty vote of no-confidence in the BoT or president means absolutely nothing. Doesn't even make headlines anymore in most cases.

There's too many victims out there, victims' families, attorneys.... maybe the initial storm will subside maybe it already has... the steady drip drip, as alluded to above, is here for the long haul.

Strampel stripped of his tenure, https://www.freep.com/story/news/2018/02/11/msu-abuse-scandal-reporting…; Cannot insulate MSU as the employer for every leadership wrongdoing. Engler is trying, though.
Pleading assault cases down to littering is the norm in EL (that's the unintentional message anyway)
