Crystal Ball Movement for Jarrett Patterson to Michigan

Interesting to see Barrett to GT. Seems like the staff pushed for him hard but then probably cooled off? Likely a lack of space or an academic thing?
I would take all the OTs I could get at this point.

If he's going to GT it isn't an academic thing. Probably ran out of room? Idk.

Good point. +1

Is playing QB at Georgia Tech, really playing QB or RB?

and get to make decisions about what to do with it.

playing QB at Flexbone offense is a lot harder than most people realize. They make 3-4 decisions at any given moment in one play. Read defense, hand off for dive, keep it, pitch it to the A-Back, etc. That's why playing QB at Flexbone requires QBs to make great decisions.
Remember how Michigan don't do a lot of true zone read with Denard at QB. Denard can't make correct reads for the most part.

Put it this way:
GT recruiting him AS QB, Mich offering nebulous opportunity to compete at several positions.
WE love Michigan, WE'D take it. Barrett is not from these parts. Kinda makes the decision easier.

Unless his goal is the NFL. Quick search shows that Joe Hamilton is the only drafted QB from Georgia Tech since 1983.

I think his size was one of the biggest obstacles for him, more than a lot of other things. I believe Hamilton was only 5'10" (I say that being only 5'9" myself), and in two or three seasons in Tampa Bay, he might have played all of 10 minutes. He worked well in Ralph Friedgen's offense though.

But their history prior to Paul Johnson's arrival doesn't really matter considering they didn't used to run triple-option offense. Triple-option QBs in general don't go pro at QB though, so if he wants to play QB at GT in college he's basically saying he doesn't care about currently about playing in the NFL, at least as a QB

Fair. Still, Paul is 0-fer in QBs being drafted at GT.

Eric Crouch, although he was drafted as a WR so probably the 40's.
December 22nd, 2017 at 9:08 PM ^
He's not going to get drafted as a QB if he plays anywhere else either.
December 22nd, 2017 at 11:12 AM ^
Yeah. I faintly remember a round-up or a podcast mentioning he wanted at least a shot at QB, so GT seems like a perfect fit for him.
December 22nd, 2017 at 3:15 PM ^
People shouldn't scoff. We got Denard because he wanted to be a QB when nobody else was recruiting him at that position.
If he really wants to be a QB, let him have his chance.
December 22nd, 2017 at 11:03 AM ^
I wonder if he still holds out hope that QB may be a possibility for him.
December 22nd, 2017 at 11:20 AM ^
On WTKA the other day, that they may have asked him to hold off on the 12/20 signing day, and this may have him rethinking the GT offer a littel more. They want him to wait and see.
December 22nd, 2017 at 12:07 PM ^
Can't remember who the "expert" was, but they hinted that his offer was probably not a "committable".
December 22nd, 2017 at 11:01 AM ^
I doubt it's an academic thing
Edit: Already mentioned above

This and keep Reese. I would be mildly be happy with the class.

I can't remember numbers but is this a sign that Petit-Frere is cooling? Or will they take both?
December 22nd, 2017 at 11:00 AM ^
Hold onto Reese somehow, get Petit-Frere, Friday, and Patterson and I am feeling great about this class!
Go Blue!

Hope that all happens but I have my doubts.

I'm assuming we would be out of it for Petit-Frere if Patterson commits? 4 offensive tackles would be too many in this class unless we are confident at least 1 can move inside.

This has been addressed, both are takes
