I thought Peters handled today well - optimistic poster here
DPJ was in bounds - should have had 14 points in the first half, on the road at Camp Randall
Fumble due to injured wrist - his only turnover of the year
this despite the OL not being where it needs to be
Next year we have red-shirt sophomore Peters and red-shirt freshman McCaffrey
we have transition to Harbaugh recruited QB's and I like our future

if he had a concussuion, greater chance than even if he's cleared medically, would not be a wise decision to expose him to the Buckeye d-line. should be ready by bowl game.

You know, I might be overreacting a little bit, but it seemed like the mood of the team change - and not for the better - when Peters was knocked out of the game. I really feel like he energizes that offense in a way that clearly nobody else seems to be able to do. When O'Korn came in, it seemed like we were back to the struggles of earlier in the season.

That's because they know they have zero chance with okorn. Zeroooooooooo. If he is the starter next week please just forfeit because it will be ugly. This team is talented, but young. Wisconsin exploited players who should have not been covering. Don't understand taking a touchdown away when his left foot hit first and it was obvious just by how his body shifted. Will never understand how replay still gets it wrong. Okorn offers us zero chance next week. Hope peters is ok, but I doubt he plays. Season over. Maybe we should start blocking someone.

He panicked at first sign of pressure and drop his eyes. He left a perfectly clean pocket when he shouldn't have left the pocket. He was below average in that game. Yes, his receivers didn't help him out a couple times.

Team played like they had the wind knocked of them once Peters went down.
On the upside, the team's surrender without Peters suggests the team is led by Peters when he's playing. Bodes well for the future.

Peters should eventually be pretty good, but changes need to be made to the offensive staff. There is no excuse to have a unit this terrible in year 3, especially given how the defense is playing after losing 9 starters.

Well there's the fact that the offense is super young. Look at the skil position players out there today.

Ok I am still quite emotional but I need to vent.
If I am the OL coach, I am making these 5 linemen run suicides till the nightime. This is the second time this group has sent our QB to the hospital. Cant hold the block for a 5 step drop? fine. Cannot block against elite DE's? fair enough. Misses an assignment that leads to your QB being concussed? Time to show some ownership and man up.
the o-line should be ashamed of themselves today. Peters played his ass off and these guys still cannot get their pass blocking right in the 11th game of the season.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:34 PM ^
If I'm the OL coach, I'm making myself run suicides til the nightime, because I cannot coach 5 highly-ranked players to pick up a simple stunt.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:35 PM ^
Well, I am not well versed on coaching schemes so I dont know if it was effort or coaching, maybe both. However, I think that something needs to be done.

Jerry Hanlon coached tackles and tight ends while Paul Schudel coached guards and centers. I don't think having two is the issue. Not having two good ones is the problem. Hanlon also called the plays.

Maybe it is just a talent level ceiling for some of the gyus this year. Or maybe it is a problem with teaching how to deal with stunts.
But I doubt it is an effort issue.

was on Kugler too. Seemed like he was fooled by the stunt, and doubled teamed a guy with Bredson, instead of blocking the stunting free guy.
People complain about coaching (Drevno).
Maybe. But I have to wonder if it is just that Kugler has a ceiling.
Hard to know without inside info. But is it credible that Drevno has never seen as stunt and has no idea how to coach guys on dealing with stunts? Maybe.

I posted this in a different thread but it might be more appropriate here"
Assuming Peters doesn't play next week, I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on whether or not hes done enough this year to be the leader to start at QB in 2018 or is DMac going to have a legitimate shot to unseat him?
November 18th, 2017 at 4:36 PM ^
Speight will be the leader to start at QB in 2018.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:43 PM ^
I could see that happening just because next years team should be pretty dang good but my stomach turns thinking hes the answer. I just think Speights ceiling is a decent game manager but nothing more. I'd lean more in the direction of developing the higher ceiling guys.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:55 PM ^
If Speight dont come back this year he will never play another meaninfull snap for Michigan again. Unless major injuries or like peters helmet comes off.

especially last year's version of Speight. Bottom line no matter how much we want to see it, neither one has really show they have NFL caliber talent that can take this offense to higher levels. Nothing where you're left saying "wow" this guy has special talent and until we see that I think job is still wide open.

He's a gamer. Early on I thought he looked a little rattled but he settled down and was making some plays on the move. It's unfortunate we've had such poor protection. Hope he is OK.
