Yeah because spending a weekend in Jacksonville prepares athletes for what four years on campus in Athens is like.  No differences whatsoever.

Like Cade and JJ, Bowman and Warren each got a crack at third string.  Bowman came in during the Colorado State game.  Warren came in during the Hawaii game.

If healthy, I'd bet Bowman has the edge.  He threw for over 5,000 yards at a 67% completion percentage with 33 TDs (and 17 INTs) at a Big 12 school.

My two cents on the Taulia injury:

• Injured his ribs/back (doesn't really matter which, but not his head) on the Mike Morris hit
• Was hurting for the rest of the game, probably told the coaches that he could tough it out (and did for a good chunk of the second half, but most of his passes were short ones or floaters, not long passes)
• Badly underthrew Moten's interception due to the injury, and either he or the coaches decided to pull him at that point because a 100% backup is better than 60% Taulia

The answer to your question is pretty simple:

• We tried to draw them offsides for 38 of the 40 seconds on the play clock, which either gets us a free 5 yards if they jump or lulls them into a false sense of security that we won't snap the ball.
• Once the play clock was low, we did snap it - a SURPRISE and it worked because Indiana expected us to take the delay of game or call a timeout.
• Unfortunately, Harbaugh was either worried we weren't going to get the play off before the delay of game or changed his mind about going for it, so he called a timeout.

This just isn't true (and I think the RPS numbers on this site are a feedback loop that reinforce this belief).

Brock Huard showed how Haskins' 62 yard zone stretch run setup the play action zone stretch TD to Schoonmaker.  One play directly led to the success of another and got us a red zone TD.  The long bomb to CJ was another out-scheme moment.  We would have had another red zone TD on his corner route if Vastardis/Zinter could have held off McFadden for long enough.

Our offensive coaches out-schemed plenty tonight.  I don't get the doom and gloom from this fanbase.

Getting PIs called against the defense is a WR skill that many seem to hand-wave away.

Nico was AMAZING at this.  He always got his body in the right position and timed his jumps perfectly.  The only way for the defensive player to make a play was a blatantly obvious PI, forcing the ref to throw the flag.

We were 2-4 last season! The general feeling was 7-5/8-4 before this season. 11-1 would be a tremendous success.  

Franz played the most minutes of any Magic player last night.  Moe and Iggy also played 15+ minutes.

It is wild that McNamara is going to stay cyan while you're considering giving Johnson a star.  Every B1G team has a Johnson caliber WR.  Not every B1G team has a McNamara caliber QB.  They should both be regularly colored circles.

The timing of this (right before our first away game of the season) makes me wonder if he was told he wasn't on the travel roster.  I can understand the desire to find playing time if you can't crack the two-deep after 3 years here.  Good luck to him.

Seth stopped charting with 5 minutes left the in the 3rd quarter (I would have too), so there were additional plays that our defense faced in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Cade could win the Heisman, and Michigan fans would still be clamoring for JJ to start next season.

I'm not saying Cade has any shot at the Heisman, but the obsession with backup QBs always being the answer is tiring.

Looks pretty good for the data we have right now.  Solid team across the board but not a lot of standouts.

I would probably bump Ronnie Bell to 88-89 and drop Cornelius Johnson to 82-83.  Seems like there should be more separation between the two based on the last two seasons.

Honestly, I am surprised we rescheduled the return trip.  After we cancelled the Virginia Tech and Arkansas series, I figured the AD was going to stop answering Washington's phone calls and emails after they played in Ann Arbor this season.

But Bama was the hotter team... they had won 8 in row prior to tonight.  UCLA had only won 3 in a row.

Also, it is the tournament.  Everyone has everything to lose.

I agree with you that Gonzaga would have losses if they were in the B1G, but I still think they have the best talent in the country this season.

Gonzaga's first opponent is also unknown.  They will play the winner of Norfolk St-Appalachian St.

To shut up the "play all your conference games" crowd on the Illinois side, I will begrudgingly hope for an Ohio State win. 

If Illinois loses today and we win tomorrow, then we could have lost the three games we didn't reschedule and still have won a (shared) title.

Michigan will stay #2 based on Kansas beating Baylor.  Michigan will likely jump Baylor in offensive efficiency too, which would place Michigan's offense and defense in the top 4.

EDIT: We did not pass Baylor in offensive efficiency, but we are still #2 overall and the only team to be in the top 5 of both offensive and defensive efficiency.

KenPom has Baylor as 6 point favorites tonight.  If they win by more than 6, then their efficiency margin will go up and they could pass us.  If they win but the margin is within 6 points or they lose, then their efficiency margin will go down and they won't pass us.

There's more going on than that, but that is the simplest way of thinking about it.

• Isn't the goal of a potential new coach to find someone who can beat teams that have more NFL talent than Michigan? (since Harbaugh can't get over the OSU hump)
• Wisconsin has bashed our head in the past two years with pro-style offenses, and they are on the schedule next year (Iowa is on the schedule the following season).  Going into one game each year with expectation that our defense is at a clear schematic disadvantage is not great.
• Maybe they were good (though some of the Sun Belt shine came off when Costal Carolina lost to Liberty), but 7 other teams on ULL's schedule were closer in defeat than ISU.  A more organized coach with a clear talent advantage should probably stay within 17 points at home to a G5 team.

More Matt Campbell food-for-thought:

• He is 0-4 against Iowa State's biggest rival (Iowa)
• He lost to Louisiana-Lafayette by 17(!) points at home (no fans though, to be clear) in his fifth season at Iowa State

Minnesota wouldn't move up 1 spot (from 32 to 31) after taking that kind of beating.  Michigan State also moved from 109 to 81 since the last rankings, but they didn't play last night (they did thrash Rutgers two nights ago, though).

Haskins had 18 carries for 61 yards (3.4 yards per carry) against Alabama with a long of 11.  I don't consider that running real well.

(For comparison, Charbonnet had 84 yards on 13 carries - 6.5 yards per carry - against Alabama with a long of 12.)
