We are still losing to good teams, I will agree. For me it is way too early to judge Harbaugh.

I cant upvote because I never post but you are 100% correct. I cant even think of any other staff that comes close in terms of being overrated.

Program is moving in the wrong direction. Again.

It was a frustrating game (and season), but it's not moving in the wrong direction. All of our best players except Hurst are back next year.

Thank you for putting it in perspective. I very badly needed to be talked off the edge. My TV has never been so badly abused.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:06 PM ^
Respectfully, I disagree. I do not say it lightly: I believe we're moving in the wrong direction. I'm sick of excuses, such as injuries. Other teams suffer injuries and overcome them to continue winning (e.g. Wisconsin). Other teams succeed with young players. In my opinion, three years of losing to nearly every ranked team we've played is a disastrous pattern, not just bad luck, or a small sample size.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:27 PM ^
I get the frustration, but moving in the wrong direction implies that the team is getting worse. They aren't. There is every reason to expect things to improve in 2018 and 2019.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:02 PM ^
This team is objectively worse than the 2016 team. And I believe it's worse than the 2015 team. And it's not just because we lost our starting QB.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:33 PM ^
No shit. Losing a dozen NFL players will do that.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:01 PM ^
Not to Alabama. Or OSU (except maybe this year).
November 18th, 2017 at 9:11 PM ^
Bama and OSU never had a gap in talent like Michigan did. Where's all the upperclassmen on this team to keep them close to last year's level? There isn't any. Once the depth is there, the team won't have to count on freshmen and sophomores like this year.

So, why didn't we win our division last year, then? A team that has 12 NFL players "should" do better than 3rd in the division, am I right?

knew this type of season was to occur. Next year there will be improvement. By 2019 we will be great as long as Harbaugh is still coach.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:53 PM ^
So now it's not even "wait until next year" anymore? It's "just wait for the year after next?" Wow.

Maybe we should only pay him $9 million for the year after next, then. We should get a discount for the other 4 years.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:02 AM ^
I get the emotion of a loss, but this is unsupportable by any fact whatsoever
November 19th, 2017 at 10:03 AM ^
Your comment is much more ridiculous. We're about to finish fourth place in the division, behind MSU, who finished 3-9 last year. I could list a dozen other "facts," but that's the only one that is necessary.
November 19th, 2017 at 10:36 AM ^
list some other facts, I'm interested to hear them, but you will be challenged to do that. There is a big difference between a bad year and "program going in the wrong direction," which is yes, ridiculous.

Needs to switch up coverages. They need to go 3 corners on third and long.
Kinnel and Mettlus can not be on the field at the same time on 3rd and medium or long to go.

Out coached in every aspect of the game plain and simple.

The difference is that Ferentz is at least able to pull out a huge victory once in a while. Shame Harbaugh can't do the same.

the chance to coach the 2018 and 2019 teams based on what he's accomplished so far. He will have two Top Five recruting classes maturing into upper classmen. If we are sitting here in late 2019 without a B1G title or a playoff berth, then we can talk about the next move.
November 19th, 2017 at 2:35 AM ^
How has he "earned" that? What has he accomplished? The only thing he has accomplished is making a pile of money.

And, I bet you were saying MSU wouldn't win 6 games this year, too. They're as young as we are and on the verge of winning 9 games, 10 with a bowl win. Are you giving a guarantee, and will you pay for my season tickets if we lose to any of those four?

was not all roses either. We had tremendously high expectations every year (and deservedly so) but always managed to get our hearts broken usually by a Pac 10 team. Lots of wins but no NC's.

offensively with a makeshift line and inconsistent qb play. I mean how many down the field bombs have been open and the ball is just not on time. Explosive plays turn bames around. Michigan just isn't settled at quarterback. If Speight was available, maybe things are different today, maybe not. His play seemed off before his injury.
Players make coaches look good or bad. This outcome today wasn't on the coaching staff. Their kids made plays. The defensive backs played those receivers tough and they made great catches.
It's frustrating to have a Mo Hurst, and see him not get rewarded with a championship season. He is so dynamic. But Michigan's defense gpt worn down. The staff was trying to play a field position game, which explains the play-calling. They were obviously gambling on the defense making plays and keeping the Badgerts pinned. Once Peters was lost, that gameplan was done. But Michigan couldn't afford to play from behind. They just aren't equiped.
My issue with the staff is not recruiting more speed on the outside. Is DPJ the only fast receiver we got other than Tarique Blacik? Until this offense can threaten deep and force other teams to play against a high octane passing game, the offense is no better the MSU's and Iowas in the league.
