Michigan Moves up to #15 in the Coaches Poll, Down To #19 In AP Poll
PSU is now #2, of course. So next weekend will be a pretty marquee game.
The lines aren't out yet, but I am guessing PSU will be favored by something like 9 or 10. In my opinion, they should be favored by about 17. If O'Korn gets rattled during a day game at Indiana, he is going to curl up in the fetal position at PSU at night.
FYI, a viable passing offense is an important part of modern college football.
MOD EDIT - slight addition to catch all the poll discussion - LSA

I would love to have CGD here for a game against PSU, the signs would be brutal .

2006 ND was the last time Michigan won a big primetime game against a good opponent while not being favored.
Harbaugh has to get it done as an underdog against either PSU, OSU or UW.
Otherwise, the narrative completely changes and he goes from media darling to underachiever which is obviously not good for recruiting.

I don't think you should worry about the media narrative right now. Harbaugh has shown a crazy good ability to recruit. This was always going to be a rebuilding year. Some people just started buying the hype after the Florida game, which turned out to be not much at all.
We've got 2 top 10 recruiting classes in a row, and this year's class looks like it will be high quality, if not high quantity. When these players are upperclassmen, with top notch coaching, they will be able to compete with the best in the country.

it's the QBs, WRs and OTs that make our passing game terrible. And we probably do have some serious playmakers at WR, they're just really young and inexperienced (or hurt) at this point.
I will admit to being surprised how bad Crawford and McDoom have been. Obvioulsy early, and I hope they put it together, but those look to be misses so far.

2006 PSU was the primetime game that year. ND was during the day.
As for the narrative, I think some Michigan fans are building this into far more than it actually is. Most of the country thinks he's a great coach (however they feel about his personality) and if this year's team is struggling, then it's probably just a year away.

For real? 4 top ten teams lose, we win and drop back 2 more spots? Win next week and we will skyrocket back into the top 10.

Yep, we were jumped by NC State, USF, and Michigan State. Every team in front of us that lost stayed in front of us, except for Auburn.

He might be a detestable douchebag, but Dantonio's a damn good coach. He's not elite like Saban, Meyer, and perhaps one or two others, but he's solidly in the next tier.

3 times this decade, is 8-4 vs Michigan. Multiple B1G wins, Rose Bowl, playoffs.
Yeah, I'd say he's pretty solidly in 2nd place.

I'll take 3-9 after 5 11 win seasons, a Rose Bowl, Cotton bowl, Playoff berth, 8-3 record against Michigan and 3 Ws against the Buckeyes with Urban Meyer at the helm. Thank you.
He is very much the 2nd best coach in the conference.

With a D like Michigan has, of course they should be ranked.
I am not happy with the offensive problems either, but you are being ridiculous.
ANY 5-1 power 5 conference team should be ranked, especially with an elite D. Who has a better D than Michigan? Not Clemson. Only Alabama has a plausible argument.
Plus, the offense did demonstrated on Saturday that they are going to get better. They showed an ability to use power run plays to gain yardage even though there was no threat in the passing game and IU was all in to stop the run.
Long way to go. But that is a huge first step for this young offense, and something that is a foundation for getting the whole offense better.

It does not respond to even one thing I said.
I said M should be ranked in response to a post that said M should not even be ranked.
I did not say anything about PSU, OSU, Wisc., or Minn, games.
YOU are mistaken if you think that M will do no better than 4 passing yards in a half in each of the games you named.
Your post makes so little sense that I have to guess you meant to respond to some other post.

Threet beat Wiscy (in Ann Arbor) and Nick Sheridan led that 2008 squad to an upset victory on the road to secure the Little Brown Jug. O'korn's best game may be coming up.

I hate when there's a disparity like that. So we get to be #15/19 Michigan...

Interestingly, there's quite a spread in the AP votes though.
Two voters had us as high as #11 this week. Two had us at #12 as well.
The bulk of them were at #17 and #18, with 8 and 7 votes respectively.
Six total votes in the 20-22 range, which I assume had a hand in dragging us down.

Polls mean little to me, rather performance and progress are most important. We'll see what happens in Happy Valley, and I'll be there cheering on the Maize and Blue.

Yep. polls are stupid now with conference playoffs and the playoffs.
Except when they are not, like when the Big Ten Champ PSU doesn't get to go to playoff and is leapfrogged by OSU because of polls.
