Hats off to Northwestern!
Hosed repeatedly by the refs, even tho they didn't win provided a maximum exposure job on Gonzaga. Good look for the B1G! (But next time - WIN THE DAMNED GAME!!)
So who wants to play against a Big Ten team now?
The zebras do b/c they've been biased all day against the B1G. Wisco had to beat Nova and the refs as well. NW just came up short.
Hopefully they're not too anti-B1G tmrw.
Sadly, basketball has become a game, for whatever reasons, refs incresingly seem to decide that one team is supposed to beat the other and make it happen. As a Big Ten fan, I am disgusted at the officiating today. If I was a NW fan, I would be livid.
Yeah I have a tough, tough, time enjoying basketball, pro OR college, because I just find the foul calling too subjective and the refs too important.
Touché.
I'd be throwing chairs.
better to be nice than to be right. I disagree.
and I'm sure that's the intent, but if so, how in the world did that officiating crew in the Michigan vs. Louisville title game get the job? Did they just have one spectacularly bad game that happened to be the title game? Or was every crew in the tourney just awful? /sorry I'm still a little bitter...
The NCAA said officials erred Saturday night by not calling basket interference and goaltending by a Gonzaga player late in the top-seeded Bulldogs' 79-73 second-round NCAA tournament victory over No. 8 seed Northwestern in Salt Lake City.
The Wildcats had trimmed a 22-point deficit to five and had the ball when Gonzaga's Zach Collins reached up through the basket to reject Dererk Pardon's shot with 4:54 left in the game. There was no call, and Northwestern coach Chris Collins, jawing with the officials all day, ran onto the court and was slapped with a technical foul.
but damn, make some shots in the first half and it's a totally different game. Way too many open shots missed.
be mercilessly ridiculed in school, but I'm betting that his classmates were crying too. They haven't had their hearts cut out and crushed in front of them by NCAA tourney refs enough times to not cry. Sadly, they'll eventually get used to it...
That kid is like 10. Who would upload this on the internet?
Everyone, apparently.
CBS showed that kid probably 10 times. Once? Ok. But over and over again? Unprofessional in my opinion

So far I've seen 2 minutes of pre-game and they've already sucked off Louisville 5 times. Hopefully the entire game and refs aren't as biased or it'll be on mute.

the real surprise is there is even a single kid who cares this much about N'western hoops.
That alone makes him a hero.
Young Izzo.
This stuff is creepy. Now that we live in an era in which everything makes it on the internet within minutes, TV networks might need to cut down on the crowd shots . . . or broadcast everything on delay and blur childrens' faces or something.
It was irresistable TV. Don't tell me you didn't feel for the kid.

I feel for the kid, which I why I think it's sad that he's probably going to become an internet meme.
He certainly read what was going on well, especially for being such a young lad.

So the way to beat them is let them get so far ahead of you that they eventually start to coast?
Maybe make that plan B.
Weren't they down 20? How can you blame the refs? How about don't get down 20.
The game should instantly end when someone goes up 20. Comebacks are bullshit and should not be allowed, the refs were doing the right thing by sticking it to those dirty wildcats. How dare they keep playing after going down 20!
I think most coaches get T-ed up doing what Collins did, but man, the dude was absolutely correct and had every reason in the hoops world to be pissed. I don't blame him for being pissed either.
Yeah, Northwestern gave Gonzaga a good scare and didn't give up. I will hand them that. Not too bad for never being here before.
That would've been something had two #1 teams went down to the B1G and both being 8 seeds. How did Wisconsin get an 8 seed anyway? Damn I hate the bed shitting Badgers but I cant stand Villanova as well. How is that school a powerhouse year in and year out? I'll tell you how. Politics and bullshit, that's how.
