I'm surprised.

And I won't be surprised when he gets off with no consequences because they sweat outside in the summer while we are all inside with the AC.
Jones says, "I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning."

He'll have to sit out a quarter.

Cam Robinson didn't miss a down after being arrested on felony gun charges. The DA declined to prosecute in his case, but that is quite a precedent to set.
September 29th, 2016 at 11:22 AM ^
Probably a police escort from the jail house to the locker room?
September 29th, 2016 at 11:29 AM ^
He's been practicing out in the heat. We are sitting in air conditioning. I think this young man deserves a break.

Means he will miss first snap and NOT listed as a starter. I think that is punishment enough.

Finebaum asked Saban about this leading up to the season, atfer the arrest of two of his players for carrying weapons. Saban got pissed and basically told Finebaum "None of your fucking business" without using those words. His(Saban's) position on the incident was crystal however. But as you suggest, it was a little odd to see PF not trying to explain it away to the rest of the nation.

Can you blame these guys? I would want to protect myself too if I was carrying that much cash around!
September 29th, 2016 at 11:16 AM ^
Yes I blame the guy. Get a permit - not that hard man.
September 29th, 2016 at 11:23 AM ^
Why so serious?
September 29th, 2016 at 2:03 PM ^
Yeah, I missed it. I had a frame of reference in my mind that some of these kids might actually need to carry a gun for protection. I just glossed right over the joke.

This only means one thing...
Their walk-on freshman punter is fucked!

Second Alabama starter to be arrested on a gun charge this season. Will most likely be the second Alabama starter not to miss a down due to arrest on a gun charge.

Growing up is hard these days, man...
September 29th, 2016 at 11:15 AM ^
Jesus, I just don't get it. This is America. You're in Alabama. Just get a fucking permit and carry legally. It's probably the easiest peice of government licensure you can get. Why are these players buying/carrying guns illigelly? Mind-bottling.

You know, what happens when your thoughts get all trapped up like in a bottle.

Well, then consider me mind-bottled.
It's mind-boggling that you're serious. Chief.

It is an offseason thing, and the final standings are out, and while I think Nathaniel Robbins of Colorado probably deserves the aware by himself, it is a team award so it belongs to Colorado this year. Within the span of hours, he accumulated 45 of their 68 total points, which made him the clear winner of the Ellis T. Jones III Award for Individual Achievement for a night which devolved into - I believe this is the count - 8 felonies and 7 misdemeanors.

That's quite the rap sheet, prison Mike.

Yawn. Robinson was arrested in Louisiana with his gun, you really think Williams, maybe Bama's best player, will miss time after being arrested in Alabama? Move along, nothing to see here.
Also, I never understand why these guys don't just get their permits. I know it takes a little time but it is so much easier than worrying about being arrested each time you get pulled over, which as a young black male they are probably under heightened scrutiny for anyways.
September 29th, 2016 at 11:28 AM ^
To play devil's advocate, it's very likely against both team rules and campus rules when they're at school. So, if you're already going to get into deep shit and choose to do it anyway, why bother with the permit. If anything, it sort of incentivizes not getting one because if it was found out that you did, it would be a tip off that you're likely breaking the other rules.
Also, stupidity.
September 29th, 2016 at 11:36 AM ^
Team rules generally are no guns in facilities, on premises. There are too many hunters and gun owners on every college football team to say nobody on the team can even own a firearm. Campus/state rules (private schools may rule differently) are generally no guns in school buildings - so private houses, cars, city sidewalks and establishments are good. If you have your license and own a handgun, leave it locked in your home (assuming you live off-campus, if you live in a dorm this is a no-go obviously) when you go to class and practice. That way you are complying with campus and team rules but can still legally travel with it and carry it to legal locations.
Source: Did this when I was on the team.
September 29th, 2016 at 12:05 PM ^
There is no licensing requirement to own handgun in AL, that's not what he got in trouble for. He got in trouble for carrying it without a CPL/CCW.
September 29th, 2016 at 12:25 PM ^
I know, that's what I'm advocating players take the time to get.
