After a long tailgate of stuffing my face and pickling my liver, I go with only water. Usually two of the big bottles.

Frozen lemonade even if it's not a hot day. MGoWife thinks I'm nuts, but I like them regardless of the weather.

couple beers for me. No food, not after the last time I paid something like $22 for two soft pretzels and two sodas. Ridiculous really.

vendors who sell out of the coolers, had Coors Lights only because I developed a disdain for Heineken. Your post, 6 fakes out of 5. ( I should have noted I was talking about the International Cup, my bad.)

This isn't an OT post so we're obviously talking about Michigan games.

Tat's the only thing I've gotten outside of a hot choclate during the Big Chill. I htink it's the best deal they have there for concessions.
August 19th, 2016 at 12:03 PM ^
I usually don't eat at the game. There is way better food available from the different vendors walking to the game, and if you get up to eat during halftime you usually miss some of the 3rd quarter.
August 19th, 2016 at 1:18 PM ^
Actually, if you follow @UMichGameFood on Twitter, they have some pretty good info on stadium food vendors and the dishes that are sold around the concourse!
They even promote the food offerings at other campus athletic facilities. Good account to follow.

I feel the same way. I don't eat much before games unless it is the rare night game. I buy a pretzel and water at the Stadium and do the partying afterwards. If it's a 3:30 game, a late breakfast at Afternoon Delight keeps me going until dinner.

The chicken finger basket is a MUST. Pretty sure it's the most popular dish in the student section
August 19th, 2016 at 12:53 PM ^
a chicken finger basket in the student section. You barely have room to stand straight up and no lap to set things on.
Given that, I have no idea what the chicken finger dish looks like.

I generally shy away from concessions unless desparate for food... But the best strategy in the student section is to leave with 2-3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, hit the restroom, grab your food, and polish it off at halftime while everybody takes a break from standing.

He sees your ice cream sandwich.....and raises you a dilly bar.

So you're saying we can't eat ice cream sandwiches until we start beating MSU and OSU?

I bought hot cocoa and tucked it under my armpits last year during the 2nd half of the Rutgers game. Other than that, no. Because tailgating.

A MICHIGAN FAN BOUGHT HOT COCOA AND WHAT HE DID WITH IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!
1. Spend $5 on a hot cocoa. $10 (total - for each armpit)
2. Raise arm
3. Place cup of hot cocoa in your armpit
4. Lower arm
5. Allow the heat to circulate thru your body

You seem to think what you are doing is normal. I still don't see how you do this without spilling hot coco.
I'm imaging someone doing this all under a jacket or sweatshirt.
August 19th, 2016 at 6:47 PM ^
The cup had a lid and I have awesome coordination so it didn't spill.
All I wore into the Stadium was a yellow sweatshirt. Living in NC, I forgot how cold MI can get in early November. The light layer of clothing allowed me to maintain proper cup/pit coordination. Listen - you do what you need to do. I'm a survivor.

...not confessions.
Armpit cocoa and Rutgers. There's a joke there I can't quite put together. I know it's there, though.

I had the greasiest cup of fries maybe ever produced at the Big House. I shared them with my formative sons. The fat lady in secton 5 next to me looked at me with the contempt of a 1000 Gladys's.
She knew, & I knew that something was out of place.
I offered some to her. She stared right through me.
I said "Go Blue".
She gave me a wry smile.
Then she ate the rest of my God dam fries.
Good times!

you can go to the "many" free refilling stations that Brandon set up around the stadium to show that his ban was really about safety.
I just wish I could have taken my two coke bottles with me to the game.
August 19th, 2016 at 3:33 PM ^
And they always give you a 50 cent piece.

I'm up in the club seats and it's a crap shoot whether coffee will be hot or not. How can they screw up coffee? We've had lukewarm hot chocolate, too.
Stuff at the stadium is expensive and pretty generic. So, we pick up hot dogs or burgers along the way to the stadium.
Whatever happened to the apples, apple cider, and donuts vendor that was there during my days as a student? That was good stuff.
August 19th, 2016 at 12:10 PM ^
When I was growing up, a Lemon Chill at halftime was a must. I'm not sure I ever even liked them very much, it was just part of the tradition.
Nowadays, I usually get a bratt or burger and a water (Sep/Oct) or souvenir hot chocolate (Oct/Nov). I think I bought 3 or 4 hot chocolates at the extremely cold Indiana game a few years ago (2014?).

Concessions at sporting events are a complete rip-off. I never buy them. Go to a restaurant before and/or after and you're good to go.
EDIT: or tailgate, which is far more fun than anything
