One Frame At A Time: UNLV
I've coped with the "no cheering in the press box" rule by laughing at the absurd. This happened often when Denard Robinson played quarterback; since then, not so much.
I laughed maniacally at this.
[Hit THE JUMP for thunderous hits, great cornerback play, a long touchdown run(!), and Yip Yips.]
As always, click the links/stills to open each GIF in a lightbox. Don't forget to vote for your favorite at the end of the post.
HONORABLE MENTION
James Ross blows up the first play from scrimmage. UNLV's red zone defense: not great. Smith's TD celebration. Punt porn, part one. Punt porn, part two. Diving Stribling PBU. BTN fail. Sione "The Tongan Terror" Houma's TD. Mo Hurst sack. Denard Rudock. Chris Wormley TFL.
10. Yes! Noooooooooooooooooooooo
Everything worked out in the end so I think we can all laugh at Matt Godin longingly staring at the Sack That Should've Been while Mario Ojemudia celebrates the Sack He Thought Actually Happened.
9. Joe Bolden, Casual Pile Diver
He looks comfortable.
8. Jourdan MF Lewis
This is going to be hard to believe but this
and this
are two different plays.
7. Yoink
Textbook.
6. Walk-In Touchdowns Got The Ladies Like
This was quite easy:
I'm sure Chesson enjoyed this moment regardless:
Also, Henry Poggi threw a heck of a block to open up the edge.
5. Two-For-One
If you're confused by this GIF, watch James Ross. Or watch the tailback. They meet at some point. Then keep watching Ross.
4. Second Corner: Far Less Of A Concern
Between Stribling's overall play and this Jeremy Clark pick (and his later PBU), the second corner spot looks less shaky these days than it did heading into the season.
3. Death Blow
The botched snap made it irrelevant, but I don't think #6 on UNLV realized he'd lined up across from a defensive end. I'm sure he figured it out when he was airborne.
2. Isaac Down The Sideline
Michigan screwed up the blocking. Ty Isaac didn't care.
FRAMES OF THE GAME: Electric Jabrill
I like the broadcast view the best because you can really see how physics-defying these cuts are:
The spin move on its own is also quite enjoyable:
As was the reaction from the Yip Yips, a glorious new addition to the student section:
My sincere apologies for calling the blue Yip Yip "Cookie Monster" last week.

He looks like a video game. His moves and cuts are so sudden without losing speed. Bo Jackson from Tecmo Bowl style.

That is exactly the comparison I had in mind. Just keep zig zagging around, you'll score.

If there are no Harbaugh GIFs did the game actually happen?

When is Punt Porn going to make it to the top 10? I really want to vote for one.
I am irrationally excited about punting.

This week is impossible to choose. So many good plays happening. Its hard to go against that Jabrill PR but the defense laying the wood gets me pumped.

He murders that same dude on the first play of the game too (under honorable mentioned).

Im still wishing Jabrill cuts left to the open field after getting past the initial waves of defenders... He gone.
September 22nd, 2015 at 5:39 PM ^
It looks like he had all the room in the world to the left.

The wall was to the right though.

Definitely the spin move, which was better than Braxton's.

Darth Vader while the enemy still had some sick moves

I love Casual Pile Driver. They probably credited him for an assisted tackle for that.
Denard Rudock seemed worthy of top 10 mention IMO.

is underratted but only because of the Yip Yip's.
There are two GIF's here that are really just about Michigan players being physical. Hell yes.

"the thrill" Peppers. Broadcast. Need more of these returns.
September 22nd, 2015 at 4:30 PM ^
Oh man I forgot how nicely Jabrill looked when he returned that, too bad he didn't cut left towards the open field, might've broke one. One game he will, hopefully more.

Freddy Canteen shows great catchup speed to follow Ty Isaac into the end zone on the long touchdown run. Impressive.

Helps me visualize what would happen if I was on the football field lined up against a defensive linemen, er, any college football player. Yikes.
September 22nd, 2015 at 4:56 PM ^
It was hard to believe those were different plays, and I didn't until I watched each 10 times and finally noted the positions of the official on the sideline.

It looks like the DB gets his head kicked in the first one - was that guy injured on the play? But they are amazingly similar.
September 22nd, 2015 at 4:58 PM ^
Death Blow getting love. DTs rarely are going to win this.

I'm starting to think that Peppers should be on offense. I mean, look at those GIFs. Not many players can do that.

Also, #6 realized right before contact it was a bad idea. He got knocked back 3 yards.
