BYU at Michigan at noon
Per Mike Humes, ESPN publicist.
9/26 @B1Gfootball games: BYU- Michigan at noon, ABC or ESPN & Western Michigan-Ohio St at 3:30pm on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2

Think about it. Michigan gets a huge advantage when playing early against western teams. This will help our odds significantly against BYU. Smart decision in that aspect.
PS - plus BYU will not be used to playing in the oxygen rich environs of Michgan Stadium, which should help the good guys.

as well as increase the number of free-radicals produced in their bodies.

Can you imagine if their fans had all day to not drink?

Not digging all these noon games. Really puts a damper on tailgating. I wish games were at like 1:30pm or 2.

Because the NFL sucks. I want NCAA football to be different and even if that means having the average start time of games at noon and 3:30, I'm fine with it.

Probably a really long time ago, but thankfully the NCAA made the change.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:13 PM ^
That just seems like a more reasonable time. 12:00am just seems a bit early to me.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:36 PM ^
12am is midnight.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:50 PM ^
Hence, it is a bit early for him, but it wouldn't be for Harbaugh.
September 14th, 2015 at 2:27 PM ^
tailgating for a midnight game would get out of control
September 14th, 2015 at 7:22 PM ^
BYU would really need their coffee then...wait.
September 14th, 2015 at 4:08 PM ^
Imagine not being in eastern time zone?
Personally I like early. Wake up, work out, watch game.
Long afternoon nap.
Party.

I actually have found that I have the opposite problem, if I think about it.
When I was a student, I could manage noon games no problem whether I was still reeling from what I shall call a "headache" or not. You showed up to support the team - it seemed pretty simple then. Now that I have a family of my own that includes children in elementary school, a noon kick means rushing through the morning to get out the door by a certain time so I don't have to park in Ypsilanti. It is definitely doable, but if you have something meaningful to accomplish, it makes things tough. 3:30 PM kicks work a lot better if you're trying to balance all that, I find.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:28 PM ^
I find the same thing...too many family items that need to be attended to on Saturday mornings, and to get to the Stadium timely, everything is rushed. The only upside is that you get to watch the later games.
I really like 3:30 games. Go out, have a nice lunch or late breakfast, enjoy the insane energy around Ann Arbor and you are still home reasonably enough to enjoy Saturday evening.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:30 PM ^
Try parking west of the stadium.
September 14th, 2015 at 1:00 PM ^
the time, but in this case I think Harbaugh has pushed for the noon kicks particularly against Western time zone teams. If you start then, you do get an advantage over the body clocks of your opponents. So, I can reasonably project that as a competitor and family and Bo traditionalist, Harbaugh is the one motivating these early starts, damn the tailgating impact.
I don't mind them either in the preseason because typically the 3:30 pm Big Ten game is hardly worth watching. ABC lucked out on Saturday with three solid games of strong viewing numbers, I'm sure from noon to midnight.
BYU-Michigan is obviously a better matchup for the network heading into the late afternoon window and prime time than OSU-Western, but Harbaugh.....is the difference, I'm thinking.
Anyway, this team will be playing lots of late afternoon and evening games, especially on the road in the weeks ahead.
September 14th, 2015 at 4:08 PM ^
There is plenty of parking available in the neighborhoods west of the stadium. Even the furthest out are still within a half mile walk of the gates.

BYU vs. UCLA next weekend is going to be very interesting. BYU's done some rather implausable things so far.

That's either a comical twist on the Hook & Latter play name, or one hell of an auto-correct.
Given that "hook" isn't upper-case and the rest is, I'm going with the auto-correct.

BYU is a Mormon school...
September 14th, 2015 at 12:04 PM ^
I like it when teams from 2-3 time zones away play early.

How did this ad ever get ok'ed....
September 14th, 2015 at 1:55 PM ^
The ad got OK's because it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. If you want some laughs, google "sexual subliminal advertising" sometime. I know "BJ" isn't the least bit subliminal, but a lot of companies go to great lengths to insert subliminal sexuality into their ads.

OSU laying waste to Western is considered a bigger draw than Michgan vs the Flying Hail Mary's?
I know I'm biased but that's surprising.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:13 PM ^
a 3:30 maquee-ish matchup if not one of those 6:00-ers like OK-TN last week (although them we'd need to scramble and make UTL IV t-shirts lol)

Or is it possible they're using us as one of the big noon games? I imagine ESPN tries to stage it so there's interesting games in each timeslot

I love noon games. I wake up just in time to see the game and then I I don't have to worry about the game all day. I'm usually less nervous and have time to do something for the rest of the day on Saturday. Love it!
September 14th, 2015 at 2:40 PM ^
I love noon games as well for pretty much those exact reasons. I also just love the look of playing under the noon sun.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:23 PM ^
God damn it I miss the days when I could "wake up just in time" to catch a noon game.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:37 PM ^
Not much better than rolling out of bed at 8:30, grabbing breakfast and/or a Bloody Mary, and flipping on the TV. Added plus is the ease of avoiding annoying ESPN gameday etc.!!

September 14th, 2015 at 12:57 PM ^
because I live 1.5 hours from Ann Arbor. Small window of tailgating. But, I do get home at a reasonable time...
September 14th, 2015 at 8:59 PM ^
as it took about 2:10 from home-to-AAGO for tailgating last Saturday, then back home by 8 pm(I'm about 35 miles west of Kalamazoo). I was really looking forward to a 3:30 start for BYU after two straight noon games; no time to really relax while tailgating when everything has to be packed away @11:15am.
Always MUST BE seated in time to see the MMB take the field!

If BYU somehow wins at UCLA, it wouldn't be surprising for them to come in with a Top 12ish ranking. This will be a good test for us, even with Taysom Hill out.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:07 PM ^
Should be a ranked-vs-ranked game (with BYU in the teens) if we both win this week.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:11 PM ^
Beating a team ranked 118 will not rank us in the top 25.
