Webb indicates more (incoming) transfers are possibly in the works...
Sam Webb is saying that two former 4-star teammates on a traditional "southern power" are looking to transfer to Michigan, and Michigan will pursue upon the two players being granted release which has NOT happened yet. He is stressing that this is in the very early stages and being intentionally vague.
As to who the players are: both are defensive guys. One would be able to play right away as a grad transfer and Sam said that he would "absolutely contend for a starting spot in the front seven". The other would have to sit a year but Sam thinks would definitely be in the DB rotation after he becomes eligible.
Now, if you'd like you can do what we do best: get our hopes up and sleuth. Possible names being tossed around are Antonio Morrison/Alex Anzalone and Jalen Tabor from Florida, as well as one of the three DB's from Auburn that announced they were leaving this week (Melton, Moncrief, Turner). Interesting from the Auburn group is Derrick Moncrief who went to Prattville, AL, where we have procured two recruits from in this recruiting cycle and the previous one.
All of this is premature and speculative, but optimism would this board good. Go Softball tonight.
Your thread title scared me. I thought it meant more outgoing transfers could happen.
Whoops, fixed it. Forgot the bad taste in the board's collective mouth right now.
I just saw the title at 8:24pm, after you modified it, and it still made me fear more outgoing transfers...gotta shake the negative funk in my head!
Drinking thread anyone?
I mean...more outgoing transfers could happen.
for UM to bring in another two transfers? What is UM's scholarship count at now?
Well subtract Countess and Norfleet from last week's count. If we were good last week we can add two kids now.
is when you have to be at 85. Right now, you could have 90 scholarships on paper for the 2015 season. However, when a team reports to fall camp that number has to be down to 85. That's why, especially in the SEC, some 'shenanigans' tend to take place in late July/early August.
Norfleet will probably not be back.
I think more attrition is expected. On TTB, I remember reading last week that a QB may be transferring, but they didn't give a lot of details until it was actually confirmed.
AFAIK, it's only one.
We are currently at 86, which includes Norfleet on the roster but not Countess.

However, we will be under the scholarship limit soon. (I guess technically, we're already under the scholarship limit due to things going on behind closed doors.)
I think it's mostly #1 and #3. Our schemes aren't changing that much to the point where the current talent doesn't fit, unless the "talent" simply isn't there. The Countess transfer seems to be about playing time, and some of the others seem to be about guys who just can't quite Hackett.
Heheheheh. I'm so clever.
Love to see it! Known for excellent analysis at individual player and game schematic level, it's refreshing to see that you have incorporated some humor into said analyses. I just hope the rest of the community can Hackett as well!

Much needed title change, my poor little heart can't take much more of this offseason...
Malzahn doesn't want his coaches freezing their asses off by coming up to Michigan for a satellite camp, but he'll possibly sign off on a transfer waiver to send a fifth-year our way?
I'll take it.

Well since Harbaugh can't recruit, we might as well fill the void with transfers no?
/s
Are you sure it is not Ronald Johnson???
Good point, if it's Florida kids the DB will have to be a senior in 2016. That probably makes sense anyways since Sam is so convinced that he would definitely be a contributer

Ah, great Kenny Loggins song.
wasn't it his old man who made a derogatory remark about the academics or something?

Definitely would be in favor of the Morrison/Anzalone and Tabor combo transferring here.
He's a true junior who talked about coming back to Florida to graduate when he declined to enter the NFL draft. It isn't him.
He was also an early enrollee. Could he potentially graduate in the spring and transfer by camp? I don't have much of an inclination as to who either player is, just a thought.
It is very likely that Valdez Showers transfers to Michigan. A couple of other names out there have been Chris Gallon, WR, BGSU and a QB/WR from Vanderbilt (not as likely). As far as the defensive transfers go, no names are out there yet that I have heard. Now if Jalen Tabor from Florida is one, then you would expect Durkin to know all about him.
I couldn't remember his name and knew he was very unlikely.
