No. looks like it was going out of bounds and hit the ref.
giving all their angles.
That shit had some Tiger Woods backspin - wasn't even close to going out of bounds.

If the ref lets that go, Caris picks it up.
Play starts at 59 seconds on the linked page

Caris had it easily with room to run

UFR the replay clearly shows the ball not hitting the ref and it stayed in bounds with Caris grabbing for it. My bad.
Nice how the talking heads are focusing on that play but completely ignoring the absurd monitor-review possession call.

and we wouldn't have had to worry about that tricky thing called inbounding the basketball.
Or if the refs didn't blatantly try to steal the game from us on the bullshit review where they said it went off of Michigan when it clearly went off of Mayman. Guess the laws of physics cease to exist in Indianapolis.

Seriously? Can we at least not bitch about the refs giving the game to the other team when we won the game in no small part due to a call going our way at the end?
March 28th, 2014 at 10:26 PM ^
That out of bounds call with 28 seconds left was clear as day. It wasn't a judgment call. They flat-out blew it and there's no reason why we shouldn't acknowledge that. If they make the right call there, the final 28 seconds would have been academic.
*Assuming Michigan can in-bound the ball first. Then they would be academic.

Not when the officials blow an OBVIOUS REPLAY call that almost gives the game away. Just because we then got a call at the end of the game doesn't somehow mean the refs aren't a bunch of blind as hell asshats.
There is NO excuse for blowing a call on REPLAY. None.

It is funny the UT fans think they only lost because of the refs. I, and most of us, think we won despite the refs. The controversial call probably does not happen if they properly review the out of bounds call. Very few on the UT board mention that travesity . . .

motherf*cking want--watch us! That call was crap, and we might not have been going through any of the remaining BS anyway.

Other than the bad off-Tennessee-player/non-reversed call, I thought the calls were generally going UM's way. There were some weak calls on TN and at least one or two non-calls on UM that easily could have been fouls. Like any game, there's going to be calls one or the other side doesn't like, but when you almost blow a 15-point lead with a bunch of ugly turnovers, it's hard to say it was the refs who tried to gift the game.
1. Regardless of who it hits, the ball stays in bound, and LeVert was going to get it.
2. Some people like Seth Davis are arguing it was a block. And so, LeVert getting the ball wouldn't matter.
3. It was a charge. Even Gottleib gets it. As he pointed out on TBS in college you can move sideways if you're the primary defender and you've established position.

If the ref lets them play on, then he almost surely stays out of bounds so as to not make an all-time screwup. (Getting in the way of a live ball for no reason.) If the ref stays out of the way, then the ball stays in bounds.
I didn't catch it in real time, but see the link above. The back-spin caused the ball to bounce waist-high on a silver platter for Caris inbounds.

Anybody saying otherwise is either an idiot, blind or has an agenda of some kind (MSU fan, OSU fan, etc.).
The same announers openly rooting for UT during the game? Fuck em.

I normally find Nantz and Anthony to be ok announcers, but I really wanted to punch both of them in the face by the end of the game. That shit was ridiculous.

was even lobbying for the second out of bounds replay to be off of Stauskas, even though it was obviously not off of him. Unless he had suddenly become black.
March 28th, 2014 at 10:00 PM ^
From the replay, it looked like the ball had some back spin on it, and it bounced straight up about six inches from the end line. I think LeVert would have had it, but there is also a good chance they call a foul on him there as well.
I'll take the Morgan charge either way.
March 28th, 2014 at 10:02 PM ^
I was about to post the same dang thing. Glad you did. LeVert migt have laid a goose egg for the second half but his D was pretty good when it counted.
March 28th, 2014 at 10:03 PM ^
call becuase it meant we had to inbound. Caris would have had that ball clear of anyone from TN.
March 28th, 2014 at 10:03 PM ^
Indeed. Although it was a charge anyway.
And thankfully, what a stupid move by the Tennessee player anyway going right into 2 Michigan players. Even Gottleib took a break from his Vol ass kissing to point out how bad that was.

I'm not saying it wasn't a charge (it was). But it's hard to make that call at that time.
Calling a foul a foul even if it is in the last seconds of the game, however, isn't even in the same stratosphere as that officially reviewed last touched call.
And anyone who pretends that that charge was the 'refs giving Michigan the game' but doesn't even mention the above is probably biased.
