Mazi Smith storage unit auctioned off for nonpayment, inside were lots of merchandise, legos, a "playbook," etc.
I mentioned "playbook" only because the guy in the video said it was. It looks more like Mazi's notes on certain plays, not really anything that is secret info. Also in the unit were a gun safe and a box entitled "Missile Lane EOUS."
Tens of thousands of dollars worth of shoes and merch, but probably not all that important for a first-round draft choice. Big score for the auction winner.

Yeah definitely not a playbook. Looks like some handwritten notes about S&C.

Michigan playbooks are blue binders. That's a notebook.

You know Ryan Day would pay primo bucks for that playbook

You know Ryan Day is the money behind the storage unit purchase.

“That’s a twenty dollar bill all day long Brando”

Dude, Mazi, I would have taken care of this for you and just sent you a big ass check. WTF dude? Get your shit together.

For real, he didn't have any friends among the walk-ons or student assistants he could have sent a text to and said, "Hey, I got a storage unit with tons of merchandise in it. It's all yours if you clean the unit."
Guessing he just forgot about it.

Or just forgot to pay the bill. Auto payments set up, card gets renewed or replaced, doesn't update auto payments ... mail goes to an old address, calls go to an old phone#, etc etc

I hope it wasn't this type of playbook

I fucking love that gif. I sent that to friends every year we beat Penn State

After 15-20 years of adulthood depending on how you're calculating, hauling all of my accrued stuff to a storage facility and then stiffing them on the rent and letting it disappear sounds like living the dream.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just take it out to the curb?
February 23rd, 2024 at 12:33 AM ^
nope. if nobody takes it at the curb, and they won't, you have to haul it back. if you let it rot in a unit, they take care of it for you

Legos?
February 22nd, 2024 at 7:13 PM ^
I like it, but an actual buckeye player has never been this close to The Don so it feels a little too fictional for me.

Obviously can't wear those cleats in the NFL. Dude has a nice shoe collection though. Somebody will make some money from this.
February 22nd, 2024 at 6:47 PM ^
Maybe he Miss Pelled his address and forgot where the storage place was. Guns are easy to Miss Plais.

Tens of thousands of dollars means nothing once you get an nfl contract. Ask adrian peterson.

Always blows my mind when people lose their storage units even though they have the money to pay the late fees OR the contents of the unit would pay off the cost of fees plus leftover cash.
I have family who let my great grandmas unit be sold off even though they knew she kept money and antiques inside of it. They also took her jewelry to a.....pawn shop.
Mazi might have thought "Oh well Ive got a nice NFL contract so it doesnt matter" but that's not a good way to look at money.

Storage units? That’s child’s play. We have close family friends who ended up with a very famous crunk rapper’s SC beach house because he had a fight with a contractor that turned into a relatively minor mechanic’s lien, and he refused to pay until it was too late.

Just because I'm that guy: mega blocks aren't legos
February 22nd, 2024 at 7:09 PM ^
Im also that guy. Mega blocks are trash
February 22nd, 2024 at 7:59 PM ^
first thing he probably did as an NFL player was replace all his mega bloks with Legos now that he can afford the good stuff and if you've seen the price tags on those you'd understand
February 22nd, 2024 at 7:14 PM ^
I'm sure he can buy all that stuff back on eBay in a week or so if he really wants it.
February 22nd, 2024 at 7:57 PM ^
What kind of Legos?

Maybe he thought someone else was taking care of it for him.
I owned part of a storage facility about 10 years ago, and would work there two days a week. One day a guy came in with all of his belongings. He was going to jail for 12 months, and said he would be sending money to a friend every month who would come in and pay. After two months, the guy stopped coming. Because I knew the circumstances, I waited an extra 60 days before auctioning it off, and when we did, I separated the photo albums and a few items that looked personal and set them aside. It turns out the guy was paying his "friend", who was just pocketing the money, When he got out of jail and came in 13 months later, I had to tell him everything he owned was gone. The guy actually broke down and cried, but at least I was able to give him some personal items. Ugh.
