Chargers confirm Harbaugh hiring (sort of)
January 24th, 2024 at 7:21 PM ^
Honestly, I still feel like Michigan has it better than the Chargers? But I get the sentiment!
January 24th, 2024 at 7:28 PM ^
Fuck the Chargers! Hope Jim does well and I will always be thankful for him turning around the program. I can think of about 24 teams that have it better than them.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:52 PM ^
I really think Harbaugh picked the wrong NFL job. He's got 5 years to fix a team that's $45M over the cap, has a bad defense, bad offensive line, and an aging roster. And after he does all that, he has to beat out prime Mahomes and Sean Payton just to win his division.
The Falcons, in a poor division, with $25M in cap space ... good lines, good defense, two good backs, two good TEs, a young stud WR. He could've drafted JJ/Daniels or traded for Fields and had a team built to play Harbaugh football and win a division in year 1. Instead he has to completely overhaul the Chargers roster while getting under the cap, just to get something loosely resembling a Harbaugh squad.

But all those NFL insiders who told us Sarah was a West coast girl...they got it right in the end. Sarah said no to LA. How many minutes until the media parasites spin that to us.

The dreaded double post. Please move along
January 25th, 2024 at 6:05 PM ^
His wife had something to say about this. They met in San Diego
January 24th, 2024 at 7:22 PM ^
Well you went 5-12 and your best players are in or near their 30s, so probably about 26 teams.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:22 PM ^
Now that's just rubbing salt in the wound.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:29 PM ^
Or putting salve on it for Buckeyes and Spartans.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:53 PM ^
on their behinds.
January 24th, 2024 at 9:06 PM ^
I am all for one of our fellow alumni win a national championship and SB. No hard feelings here.
January 24th, 2024 at 9:42 PM ^
Fuck the Chargers. Your franchise has zero fans so I'd say just about everybody has it better than you. I really don't know what Jim is thinking going to a team that plays 17 road games a year.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:23 PM ^
I just threw up in my mouth after reading that.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:24 PM ^
Mike Jones
January 24th, 2024 at 7:26 PM ^
MIKE JONES!
January 24th, 2024 at 7:38 PM ^
I know what this means now.
WHO?
January 24th, 2024 at 7:50 PM ^
The first MGoMeme I had the temerity to ask about ~12 years ago was the who is Mike Jones? thing. You never forget your first.
January 24th, 2024 at 8:15 PM ^
True dat!
My work here is done!
January 24th, 2024 at 7:25 PM ^
A lot of people do? You wouldn't be asking this question if you had it good.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:25 PM ^
Well, I think somewhere we knew that someone would appropriate it if indeed he took another position....
January 24th, 2024 at 7:25 PM ^
There's four teams still vying for the Super Bowl this year, so I would start with all of them for sure.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:27 PM ^
I hate this.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:27 PM ^
I didn't feel jilted. Now I do.
January 24th, 2024 at 9:44 PM ^
I 100% feel the same. I was fine, but seeing this just made me 🤮
January 24th, 2024 at 7:27 PM ^
It’s over who cares about the Chargers I say … good luck coach you were great and made us great again … let’s worry about Michigan!!!
January 24th, 2024 at 8:05 PM ^
Maybe Harbaugh should be President. He actually does have experience making things great again
January 24th, 2024 at 8:14 PM ^
Don't worry
January 24th, 2024 at 7:27 PM ^
Logged in just to say fuck the Chargers.
Huge fan of Harbaugh and what he did for our university, but fuck the Chargers and in particular Dean Spanos.
That organization's abandonment of the city of San Diego was unforgivable.... and they are a bottom tier team in LA now.
Love Harbaugh but if we were losing him to the NFL, would have loved to see him go to a better organization.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:43 PM ^
Yes, in a better world, they've given Harbaugh so much control that the first thing he does is move the franchise back where it belongs!
January 24th, 2024 at 7:28 PM ^
Yeah...that's a damn confirmation.
It won't change the fact that Harbaugh did what Harbaugh does: WIN. Wherever he's at.
He'll get that Super Bowl ring in very short time.
IF ONLY HE WOULD'VE BEAT JOHN, DAMNIT!!!
HAIL
January 24th, 2024 at 7:33 PM ^
I don’t think he would’ve been run out of San Francisco had he won a Super Bowl there, let alone return to the college ranks
January 24th, 2024 at 7:48 PM ^
Yeah, he never comes here if he beats John
January 24th, 2024 at 7:29 PM ^
We should definitely make this phrase part of our program’s mantras to augment Bo‘s “The Team, The Team, The Team”. It properly acknowledges Harbaugh’s legacy and is philosophically a positive outlook that we should seek to instill in our players. I also would add in some tip of the hat to the boa constrictor symbolism of toughness and the Bet symbolism of the swagger of gamesmanship and embracing pressure rather than being crushed by it.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:29 PM ^
I hope Warde just hires Sherrone immediately and spares poor overworked Brian and Seth from a coaching search saga
January 24th, 2024 at 8:00 PM ^
Swim lanes anyone?
January 24th, 2024 at 8:23 PM ^
Yes please, the water's great!
January 24th, 2024 at 7:32 PM ^
Just glad to get an answer, the program can move forward now.
Thanks for everything, Coach.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:33 PM ^
The DETROIT LIONS(in my best Forest Gump voice)
January 24th, 2024 at 7:33 PM ^
Currently? Detroit, San Francisco, Baltimore and Kansas City
January 24th, 2024 at 7:48 PM ^
Plus, Michigan. 15-0, national championship, first team at any level to reach 1000 wins.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:33 PM ^
It’s two part for me: first- completely understand Harbaugh wanting to move on, and extremely grateful for what he accomplished at Michigan. I’ll always root for him.
it’s my hope that the program continues to ascend and JH intentionally groomed Moore for this moment. Time will tell…
lastly- the team will be different (not saying in a negative way) but no harbaugh, core plays (too many to list) have departed, mourning the transition but believe the foundation has been set.
I think this will be a rally cry for this team. Everyone will again doubt Michigan, which is a dangerous thing.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:35 PM ^
Next up, a round of 'He's a Jolly Good Fellow.'
January 24th, 2024 at 9:22 PM ^
I was just thinking that will probably not transfer well to the NFL.
In fact, I'm wondering if the whole metamorphosed Jim he worked to achieve in the last 3 years will play as well in the NFL as it did here. He recruited the people/personalities and built a team to create and support a unique (particularly today) college football culture built on Faith, Family, and Football - and actual love. With some (generally considered) to be old, corny aspects.
Will he have to try and go back to the old NFL personality? Can he? Can he create a melded old NFL/new College Jim? If he does, will it work?
It will be interesting.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:40 PM ^
4 teams have it better than you - when it comes to this years draft.
Which means 27 teams had it better than you this year.
Best of luck Harbs. You'll be working for one of the worst run franchises in the NFL. I won't be cheering for you since they fucked over my city. If you draft Blake, JJ, Mikey, Zak, and a few others it would change that. If recent past is precedent you'll be out of a job in 3 years and never be a HC again.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:40 PM ^
Las Vegas put up 63 points on them not that long ago. Harbaugh's definitely got his work cut out for him.
They cap-bombed themselves for next year and can't keep all of their aging talent. There's an element of empty cupboard there behind Herbert. They'll need to restructure Bosa, which will make up a little bit of the room, but I don't see them able to keep all of the really good veterans.
I think the builders like Pete Carroll appreciate the situation. Harbaugh likely does as well. We'll see. If Herbert doesn't rebound, this is going to a bad team for a while and Harbaugh won't have infinite time to turn it around.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:40 PM ^
Way too soon for that to be even mildly amusing to me.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:41 PM ^
I knew this was coming, but this tweet is like being forced to watch some dude fuck your ex-girlfriend. Mr Brightside indeed…
January 24th, 2024 at 7:43 PM ^
Harbs going to the chargers kinda feels like John B going to the Cavs. Not the best NFL franchise to take over.
January 24th, 2024 at 7:49 PM ^
no
because John B was a terrible match for the pros, whereas Harbaugh is perfect in the NFL
