Darrius Clemons transfers to Oregon State and Cornelius Johnson, has declared for the NFL draft.

“Support me. Or not, I don’t give a DAM!”
The Michigan difference? Maybe if he had stayed he would be able to spell DAMN!?
January 15th, 2024 at 6:19 PM ^
You must not have gone here if you don’t get why it’s spelled that way in his post.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:22 PM ^
Or why it’s all CAPS!
January 15th, 2024 at 6:32 PM ^
Beaver ... Dam
January 15th, 2024 at 6:37 PM ^
...and they're angry.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:45 PM ^
Oh that kind of beaver! I always thought it was en edgy mascot for a college.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:47 PM ^
Motto is "they're coming for you"!
January 15th, 2024 at 7:32 PM ^
If only there was a mascot that had anything to do with it.....
January 15th, 2024 at 8:46 PM ^
I've never seen anyone miss something so obvious before. This was truly amazing, thank you.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:21 PM ^
Oregon State is a choice.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:23 PM ^
Says it’s his home state.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:29 PM ^
He clearly wants to be somewhere where he’s on the field. Can’t blame him. Wish him the best.
Thought he had the potential to be that 50-50 ball deep threat that we haven’t had since Nico. Welp.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:37 PM ^
I wish him the best, but I can blame him. What does it matter if I do? It's his life not mine.
There's a choice between making a great appearance and being great. He can still do the latter; and perhaps he thinks this is a better shot. But in my (uninformed and irrelevant) opinion, he gave up tools by which he might have become greater.
January 15th, 2024 at 10:56 PM ^
You really could have stopped after the first 5 words. What tools is he getting here? We had Nico Collins, who was one of the most productive receivers in the league this year, and we squandered his college career. He had more receptions this year than he had in his entire college career. A difference of less than a hundred yards too. Collins could have and should have been drafted higher had he shown real production in college. Who else has Harbaugh put into the league as a receiver? Ronnie Bell was barely drafted. We’ll see how this class shakes out but I’m not seeing anyone that pops out except maybe Roman Wilson. At the end of the day, when you’re a heavy run first offense, you’re going to have a hard time retaining wide receivers. They don’t want to block on the outside 70% of the time. And when we throw, we feature TEs a lot.
January 16th, 2024 at 3:26 AM ^
Which is why I believe that Orji is the plan at QB for next year. We have yet to see much of his passing skills, but we've all heard about his freak athleticism. In HS, he was a runner and a gunner that averaged 16 yards / completion. One of the many recruiter quotes:
The size and strength are evident when Orji shows the ability to make throws under extreme duress. We have seen situations where Orji puts good velocity on some throws despite defenders having a grasp on his lower half. His size and strength generate zip even in less-than-ideal scenarios.
As long as he takes care of the ball, I think UM will continue to move toward the Jalen Milroe style of offense. Combine that with thunder and lightning (Mullings and Edwards) as well as a couple of excellent tight ends and a full back, and you've got the ground and pound that will control the ball on offense and grind out yards and points.
When combined with a very good offensive line and a great defense, we should be able to compete for another championship.
January 16th, 2024 at 9:27 AM ^
I think UM will continue to move toward the Jalen Milroe style of offense.
If that were true, Harbaugh wouldn't have recruited Davis so persistently.
January 17th, 2024 at 2:48 AM ^
Very good point. I probably overstated that we "will continue to move toward" and should have stated that may be the path we take next year... much like Alabama did last year.
I don't think Saban could have told you last Aug that his offense would look like it did in January. I think we may likely take the same route even though that isn't necessarily where we plan to head. Sometimes, you have to play the hand that's dealt you and a Jalen Milroe offense run by Alex Orji might be surprisingly effective while Kirk Campbell develops Jadyn Davis.
January 16th, 2024 at 9:37 AM ^
I take no issue with your description of our run-heavy offense and its impact on WRs, but the Beaver starting QB DJ Ukelele's total passing attempts are way down the list among all starting QBs.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:52 PM ^
It seems like he would've seen plenty of the field given the current WR corps...This plus the move back home makes me think it's not just about his place on the depth chart.
This is not a negative, btw. Sometimes kids need different things. If being closer to your support system is what you need, that's completely valid.
January 15th, 2024 at 8:11 PM ^
Although even with Nico, we would have had to throw the ball to him to actually have that threat.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:31 PM ^
The Beavs have a good chance to win their conference in 2024.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:50 PM ^
I’d say 50/50 at least
January 15th, 2024 at 7:07 PM ^
I’ve double-checked your math and concur
January 15th, 2024 at 6:24 PM ^
Congrats to Cornelius!! He made some amazing catches in his career at Michigan. Best of luck in the NFL...

comma police arrest this man

This comment is performance art.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:33 PM ^
Cornelius Johnson might be the most unsung player in the post COVID era of Michigan football. He stuck with an offense that refused to utilize him in any meaningful way in terms of showing his ability to NFL scouts, and there was never so much as a peep from him (as far as I know) of complaints about his role. I really hope he has a solid NFL career because he deserves it.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:39 PM ^
CJ, All Day
Some absolutely clutch catches to extend the boa constrictor drive vs Ohio State last year, as well a 31 yarder in 2021 to set up the 2nd of Haskin's touchdowns in 2021, and, oh yeah...
January 15th, 2024 at 6:48 PM ^
Glorious. I could watch him juke that safety all day. Don't forget this!
I am starting to think we might need an appreciation megathread for each player.
January 15th, 2024 at 8:02 PM ^
Will be curious if he has a Nico Collins career arc. Agree with your points.
January 15th, 2024 at 9:41 PM ^
Not on the same planet talent wise, but yeah that would be trippy.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:36 PM ^
...Is it too late to switch Mikey back to WR?
January 15th, 2024 at 6:39 PM ^
Clemons should have a great shot at making All-Conference
January 15th, 2024 at 7:03 PM ^
Hahaha, I was just about to ask what conference they went to. Apparently they are still the PAC 10 with WSU?
January 15th, 2024 at 8:01 PM ^
They have a two year scheduling deal with the Mountain West and are playing Oregon next year.
January 15th, 2024 at 6:55 PM ^
Good luck Cornelius, thank you for the National Championship, 3 B1G championships and beating Osu 3 years in a row. One of better route runners ever to wear the Maize and Blue uniform.
Good luck Darrius at Oregon State and we don’t blame you for wanting to be closer to home.
January 15th, 2024 at 7:01 PM ^
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but Karsen Barnhart and AJ Barner declared.
January 15th, 2024 at 8:32 PM ^
It is known. Comment in a thread is fine. Do not recommend making an OP.
January 15th, 2024 at 7:10 PM ^
I just don’t see Johnson getting drafted. Maybe I’m wrong?
January 15th, 2024 at 7:38 PM ^
A 6' 3" receiver who had the highest completion % on contested catches in all of college football is probably not getting drafted. /s He's projected to be around a 4th-5th round pick before the combine.

Bellamy never gave this kid an opportunity. He was ripping it up in his freshman spring practice. Bellamy lost andrel and his wrs didn’t get much separation the entire season. He did develop and springboard his own guy (semaj) but never heard from karmelo, moore, amorion his freshman year, cj was awful this year (drops and didn’t know to go out of bounds). Wilson was great but overll wrs were weakest position group on team
January 15th, 2024 at 9:42 PM ^
Harbs lost Andrel.
January 15th, 2024 at 9:35 PM ^
I was hoping Clemons would come back from the portal.
That Saif, insiders have said he's a guy who lived in the training room. People have questioned whether he "loves" football the way Harbaugh wants you to love football.
Maybe we should've roomed him with Max Bredeson or asked Ben Mason to be his mentor.
January 15th, 2024 at 9:35 PM ^
I don’t get it at all (Clemons).
Those who stay…
January 16th, 2024 at 2:08 AM ^
The amount of snaps he got this year was pathetic. If he was going to show out next year he would have been more involved in the offense this year. So something wasn't clicking and it wasn't just opportunity.
I hope he gets to prove himself at OSU.
