Paul Finebaum "Never been more wrong about anything in my entire life"
You gotta love it. This team and these coaches have constantly proven the naysayers wrong. I have never been happier as a fan and more proud of a team than I am for team 144. Go Blue!
January 9th, 2024 at 10:01 AM ^
Props to him for owning it.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:06 AM ^
He's only "owning it" because refusing to do so would shred what little credibility he has left. Fuck Finebaum. Cock-headed loser.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:37 AM ^
See, I think you are missing the point. (I mean, I don't disagree with your description of him, though.)
He would lose all credibility BECAUSE the TRUTH of the Team speaks for itselt. Even a Harbaugh-hating SEC spokesperson could not deny what everyone saw. The greatness of the team, their culture, their love for the university and each other, the difference of our fanbase, and ofc how all of that produced the Harbaughs (now dominating both Saturdays & Sundays and some rando Mondays and Thursdays too).
Our team has not only achieved victory on the field... it has conquered naysayers, disbelievers and false refrains. PETE IS THE SHINING EXAMPLE OF THAT, and that's not just because his forehead can reflect more light than a mirror.
His flip is proof of our team's achievements. That's the point.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:34 AM ^
Seems like shtick, rather than honest opinions.
ESPN talking heads generate garbage TV. Best to stick with MGoblog podcasts and Sam Webb for interesting content.
Personally it irritates me that college football generates enough revenue to give these jerkoffs millions for their stupid banter. Harbaugh is right to recommend revenue sharing with the players.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:39 AM ^
Per web, Penis head Paul makes $5million a year. So long as he keeps his job whatever garbage he spouts in the correct thing to say
January 9th, 2024 at 10:48 AM ^
FInebaum is almost literally all shtick, which is why I haven't watched the video and why I have never taken him seriously. I do admit to some amusement that he called for Harbaugh to be fired right before the 2021 season.
If you look at his wikipedia page, though, he apparently wasn't always like that. His reporting in 1993 about Antonio Langham signing with an agent during the season got Alabama on probation and had them forfeit wins. Which just blows me away.
Anyway, he clearly discovered at some point that there was money to be made by trolling college football fans.
(Langham was a great corner who the year before had a big pick six in the SEC Championship Game against Florida (which I think was the winning touchdown in a 28-21 game). They went on to win all their games and beat Miami (YTM) to claim a national title.)
January 9th, 2024 at 6:34 PM ^
Finebaum is playing a character. Even he doesn't believe what he says.
He said that he was happy for his wife when Alabama was chosen over FSU for the CFP, because his wife is from Alabama. But he was sad for himself because if the SEC got shut out of the CFP it would be his biggest show ever.
His formula: Appeal to a large passionate base (SEC), and then troll an equally large passionate base (Big Ten). He's getting clicks from both sides of the fight. Smart, really.
And we fall right into it.
January 9th, 2024 at 11:17 AM ^
For those who didn't watch long enough to hear Booger make his points he hits the nail on the head. Like no other analyst I have seen. He points out the dismissal of Don Brown and revamping the defense as THE thing the elevated Michigan from good to great. I realize one has to listen to/see Finebaum speak to get to that point but its worth it because that explains how we got this done. It had NOTHING to do with fucking signs.
January 9th, 2024 at 2:16 PM ^
When asked if Georgia or Michigan wins this year, Finebaum says "Michigan", no hesitation. Booger won't answer directly but obviously thinks it's Georgia. I also wish one of the panel members would've directly made the point about signs you made. They ignored it, which I guess is good as we're going to get out of them.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:06 AM ^
Add Pete's owning up to being wrong to the massive list of story lines to this year. 15-0. Overcoming adversity. JJ's promise. I don't know if it's possible to have a better year than this, all things considered.
Michigan football may have a better year at some point in the future, but I'm not sure any of us here now will be around to see it. Soak it up. Life moves pretty fast (thanks, Ferris) slow down and enjoy this one my friends. We're in the good ole days - right now.
January 9th, 2024 at 2:13 PM ^
High powered offenses on undefeated teams dont just toss up 13 points. We arent going to probably ever see this again. We became our own Georgia (21) through coaching, development, and a tight bond nobody could break.

"Never been more wrong about anything in my entire life **so far**"
Fixed that for you Pete, something tells me the stupid train is just building steam.
January 9th, 2024 at 11:26 AM ^
The most unlikable ESPN personality with the most unlikable character from the most unfunny comic. Fitting.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
Give it time, Pete. I'm sure you will be.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:10 AM ^
I cannot and will not force myself to watch a finebaum clip. fuck him.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:10 AM ^
Suck it Pawl.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:11 AM ^
Who cares at this point. Finebaum is a shock jock commentator and espn's sec schtick boy! He and chickensht Thamel one in the same! Mouthing off but can't face the fire they create!
At least finebaum goes on his show to eat crow too, but at the end of the day he's cashing checks happy as heck he gets to p'off people for a living and they come back for more.
January 9th, 2024 at 2:17 PM ^
One rando play that leads to a loss this season for us and we are cheater losers. Fuck that guy and fuck all of them. It took perfection to get them to back the fuck off meanwhile Alabama is bringing in number 1 classes for 15 years. We all know (from fab five) what it takes to recruit on that level.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:11 AM ^
I was waiting for him to start trying to talk about sign stealing or “cheating” but he didn’t. They all didn’t. Other than to mention that it exists (which is still a weapon). But none of them said they thought Michigan’s success was due to cheating. So, I commend them for doing the right thing here.
January 9th, 2024 at 6:37 PM ^
At some point, they don't really have a choice because it's so obvious. Even if they want to say something else.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:12 AM ^
I hate pretty much everyone that was on that video, but it was pretty great.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:13 AM ^
*Michigan wins the National Championship*
Me: Yaay! Woooo!
MGoCommenters: OMG what does Finebaum think about this?! I can't live without his take!!
January 9th, 2024 at 11:08 AM ^
Since you felt compelled to copy paste this in two threads I think you are missing the point. It's more the fact that the ESPN shill mouthpiece is forced to admit on live television that he was wrong whether he believes it or not.
January 9th, 2024 at 11:38 AM ^
No, I get that point, I'm just two steps past it. I know full well what's being conveyed here. Problem is, you think this is worth mentioning at all.
The context is not, ESPN guy is forced to admit he was wrong. That's a warped perspective. Here's the context: He's irrelevant. He tried to be relevant, but failed at every turn. Because we know he's wrong and now have proof, we get to forget about him. He should never be mentioned again. Instead he's still getting signal-boosted like what he thinks matters. Because it apparently matters to you. Me, I have troubled remembering his first name.
As for why I chime in, it's because I'm worried about you guys. Michigan is NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. That people's thoughts at this moment, in this afterglow of victory, keep straying back to a ragebaiter. . . that's a very unhealthy sign the ragebaiter is living way too much in your heads.
Michigan won THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! I mean, fuck, wooo! Your head should be full of Michigan and the team and good feelings, not some ragebait whore. If Finebaum is in there at all, you should probably talk to a therapist about ragebait addiction.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:30 PM ^
Dude, You've talked about him 3 times today - I've mentioned his name once in the entire week and it was only to answer a question from another fellow user about Alabama's post mortem in a post last week. Why are you being so weird about it and attacking me?😂
You've told me I have "to sober up and get some pride" while calling people "idiots" who mentioned his name last week on said occasion and now suggesting that I should possibly see a therapist about posting "ragebait" yet I don't see anyone raging about him ever nor did I even post it. You're being thinly veiled with the passive aggression by trying to disguise it with concern and "worry" here which comes off as insulting and I think that you know that.
I don't necessarily disagree with you on your point that he's probably given too much publicity but you've completely lost me when you start slinging weird and unnecessary insults tacked on that don't strengthen your argument in the way that you think it does.
Let people talk about what they want to talk about. As long as it's about Michigan, properly caveated with an OT, and/or follows the rules of this forum then I don't see why it matters so much to YOU
That's why multiple threads exist.
Your opinion doesn't need to be announced in all of them if you don't like the subject or discussion at hand.
It's okay to talk about a topic and not entrench your entire existence and feelings into it.
You do know that right?
January 9th, 2024 at 10:15 AM ^
Nice and all for now. But give him a few days and he’ll be back to his normal self.
Just like Beano Cook in 1997, he’s got an agenda to fill and he’s going to stick to it. I’m not going to give him credit because he magically admitted reality for a split second.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:59 AM ^
Totally forgot Beano existed until I saw your post. Hated that guy!!
January 9th, 2024 at 6:41 PM ^
I was at the 1997 Penn State "Judgement Day" game.
The game was broadcast on ABC and ESPN was doing a mini Judgement Day "Game Day" from Penn State. (FSU and UNC were the other undefeated Judgement Day contestants). Beno Cook was doing the PSU broadcast.
Earlier in the day, he stated that Michigan should not even bother to show up, just send the band. So we went over to the broadcast booth after the game and let him have it good. He was clearly embarrassed by his earlier statements. To calm us down, he informed us that he would be voting us #1 the next day, despite Nebraska's OT "win" and FSU's win.
January 9th, 2024 at 7:01 PM ^
"Don't bother showing up. Just send the Michigan band have them play the Victors so both sides can go home happy."
Oh, yes. I remember him saying that. Beano had a 25-year erection for Penn State, for some reason. Him saying, "Penn State is the team to beat this year," was his yearly mantra.
And even though I wasn't alive yet, I have heard soundbites from the 70's. The Ten Year War between Bo and Woody, I don't think he picked Michigan to win a single time. That was how he rolled.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:16 AM ^
Fuck him and his whole persona.
Hes not eating crow. He doesn’t give a fuck. He’s a troll who ebbs and flows.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:21 AM ^
First step. Good for him.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:28 AM ^
Refuse to view on any Finebaum link. What else is he going to say. Fuck him. He doesn't deserve the clicks.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:29 AM ^
Booger MacFarlard said there is a team that was lost just once in the last 2 years that would like a shot at the Wolverines. To which Mike Greenwell responded that Michigan had only lost twice in that time.
I guess you don't need math to be a talk show host.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:44 AM ^
Georgia wants a shot at us? Guess they should have beaten Bama when they had the chance, then. They get to keep their other two titles, they should just chill out.
January 9th, 2024 at 2:25 PM ^
If a 12-1 Texas had beaten Washington to start the season they wouldve been left home. Texas was in because the SEC champ had to be in and they beat them. Without that Texas win its the usual SEC all stars in the playoffs.
Thanks Texas. You fuck up every conference you touch.
January 9th, 2024 at 7:16 PM ^
My point was that we've only lost 1 game in the last 2 years and our record is better than Georgia's.
We're 28-1, They're 27-1
January 9th, 2024 at 10:31 AM ^
The prick with ears & glasses is still a prick.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:39 AM ^
Wow. Amazing.
Do I have to reconsider my bone-deep assumption that Finebaum is a bone-deep jerk?!
January 9th, 2024 at 10:45 AM ^
No you do not. Just listen to his radio show later and he will remind you why you think he is a jerk.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:42 AM ^
If you don't love us at our Connor Stalions, then you don't deserve us at our Natty.
Too little, too late, Paul.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:44 AM ^
I have a hard time reconciling who Finebaum is on Get Up and who he is on his radio show. On TV where he isn't just fielding calls from SEC meatheads he can be reasonable and gracious. On his radio show today he will be the condescending, nasty asshole that balances any positive remark with a petty cheap shot.
He's got a brand and it has made him famous and probably rich, but he is a hack and a weenie to me forever.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:54 AM ^
if you would have told me 2 months ago that on january 9th, I would be agreeing with paul finebaum I would have laughed...
yes, pete. you were wrong.
January 9th, 2024 at 11:03 AM ^
Wow at the end when he says Michigan would have beat Georgia.. I near lost my mind just like Booger and Jeff
Dude's a clown tho who is fishing for eyeballs, still let's not forget that
January 9th, 2024 at 6:47 PM ^
The SEC has checked out after the Alabama Rose Bowl loss. What better way to get them to check back in than to troll Georgia, the "real best team in college football" in the SEC's new narrative.
There are no audience metrics for "happy audience" or "mad audience", there is just "audience". Whatever gets an audience is fine with him.
