DeBoer's year at Indiana also overlapped with Mike Hart's time there.

Kalen DeBoer can fucking coach.

I would also like to point out that Nick Sheridan is, as I am, a Saline Hornet.
It's the reason - the only one - that, through it all, I had a soft spot for the man.

I'm a Kearsley Hornet. Does that connection count?

I am also a Hornet. Hemmeter Elementary School, Saginaw, Mich.

I got stung by a bald face hornet this summer....
Man did that hurt!!! Nest was the size of a football.

Greetings my Saginaw compatriot.

Eagle River?

I've shopped at the Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Does that connection count?

I mean, what is there not to like about him? I don't recall that he was in any way controversial. He was a player of modest ability who was thrust into a tough situation, but that wasn't his fault. He wore the winged helmet, he graduated, his dad coached here. Saline or no Saline, why wouldn't you have a soft spot for him?

Seems like a decent fellow, it's just hard to bring up Nick Sheridan's name without immediately wincing at painful memories of the bad ol days.
January 4th, 2024 at 5:22 PM ^
Eh... I actually hold the players who played in those days (at least the ones who stuck around and didn't trash the program to the media, anyway) in even higher regard. Those were tough times, and the guys who stuck it out and competed deserve a ton of credit.
Brandon Graham is one of my all-time favorite players, for example. He basically willed himself into the first round despite playing on a terrible defense led by terrible coaches.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:58 PM ^
Yeah, he did his best in an impossible situation and the worst of our fan base let him know that they hated him for it.
January 4th, 2024 at 4:45 PM ^
Wasn't he also OC at Indiana a few years?
January 4th, 2024 at 3:51 PM ^
Great info, thanks for posting.

Jerrett McElwain is the son of Jim McElwain. Jury still out as to whether or not he has any shark DNA.
January 4th, 2024 at 4:14 PM ^
Damnit. You got me by 2 min.

Rumor has it Lava Girl is also on staff...

The reason I come here and will keep coming back here to these spaces! Boom

Jim convinced his son Jerret that if he wanted to sow his wild oats he needed to be near salt water.

courtney morgan was also director of personnel (or some such title) here in 2020 (i think - might've been 2019?) his departure was, if i recall correctly, a big surprise and bummer.
January 4th, 2024 at 5:14 PM ^
2021 and a huge loss. We were dropped by several recruits as a direct result, including a 5* tackle who now starts for Oregon. Thankfully we kept Mason Graham, who Morgan was instrumental in recruiting.

Son of Shark Fucker? I don't want to see proof in images.
January 4th, 2024 at 4:56 PM ^
Were any of these folks on campus with anyone on our current roster? Was there any crossover?
January 4th, 2024 at 5:08 PM ^
Giles Jackson and Courtney Morgan would both have need around with some of the more seasoned players.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:25 PM ^
Morgan and Sheridan need to pass along some intel to the good guys. I would.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:23 PM ^
Fordson had 2(!) 6-3 ~300lb division 1 DL at the same time!?! That had to be one hell of a high school defensive line!
January 4th, 2024 at 9:29 PM ^
This is just more proof that Washington is a great institution that's really hard to hate.

no one has mentioned McGoRISK yet?
what, too busy inventing a backstory for Coach MGoStratego?
