Pulling for FSU, even thought is an unlikely outcome
December 30th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
Looks like no split championship...
December 30th, 2023 at 3:43 PM ^
Auburn looks great. Penn State doesn’t.
December 30th, 2023 at 3:43 PM ^
The Orange Bowl is at 4 EST?
That's wrong.
The Orange Bowl is the quintessential night bowl game.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:23 PM ^
Guessing that they don't want to compete with the NFL Special Monday Night Football Game That Is Especially Special So It Is On Saturday Night Instead So That It Can Screw The NCAA
December 30th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
I'm sure that's it, especially since ESPN broadcasts both games. But it's still wrong. It's like playing the Sugar Bowl in Mobile or something.
December 30th, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
The Peach bowl has to be one of the longest games played
December 30th, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
2 of the best the BIG10 have to offer have looked bad against SEC teams… Hopefully we can change that
December 30th, 2023 at 4:12 PM ^
No way Mizzouri holds a full strength OSU to 3 points, Penn State probably holds MissSt to less points with their opt outs
December 30th, 2023 at 6:36 PM ^
Ole Miss?
December 30th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
Ohio was missing their All-American WR and extremely good starting QB. And QB2 hurt in 2nd Q. Only surprise there was QB3 couldn’t make anything happen.
PSU apparently was down both of their starting CB’s so not surprising their defense couldn’t hold up.
Also Maryland is absolutely blasting Auburn.
So I don’t see any B1G problem.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
OSU and PSU both are proving how terrible the B10 is this year. Doesn't bode well.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
It's so terrible that top teams have first round draft picks in key positions and when they sit out because they'll be playing in the NFL next year, the teams are worse.
December 30th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Good points. I do not understand how some fans are not contextualizing these games.
'OSU lost'. Well yeah they lost the guy who took 99% of snaps at QB this year, their Heisman finalist WR and they had to patchwork the OL for two starters who opted out AND missing some key personnel on D as well.
'PSU lost'. Well yeah they were missing their all world DBs and world destroyer DE. Ole Miss was off to the races from the get go because they were covering some absolute dudes with true freshman.
These games outside of the playoff give little to no indication of conference strength or weakness because of the folks sitting out. Georgia is absolutely ham blasting FSU. Any reason? At all? Any key personnel missing perhaps?
December 30th, 2023 at 4:41 PM ^
Does it make you feel any better that trash Auburn who basically beat Alabama is getting smoked by Maryland using backup QBs?
December 30th, 2023 at 5:42 PM ^
Way to sensationalize without context. By chance do you work in the media?
December 30th, 2023 at 5:46 PM ^
Because of opt outs, these games don’t prove anything.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:12 PM ^
good news Georgia is doing it the right way
December 30th, 2023 at 4:13 PM ^
Terps get the pick 6 of Thorne.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:14 PM ^
Good ol' Thorne. You can take a Sparty out of East Lansing, but you can't take the Sparty out of him...or something like that. Alabama needed a freaking miracle to beat these guys? I'm feeling more confident.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
Who of significance has opted out for Auburn, if anybody?
December 30th, 2023 at 5:47 PM ^
They're down a starting DT and both cornerbacks. Also have a starting safety hurt.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
Georgia will win 55-3
December 30th, 2023 at 5:48 PM ^
If this is your halftime score prediction, it's looking pretty good right now!
December 30th, 2023 at 4:17 PM ^
Milton is a beast.
I'm pretty OK not having to play him.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:17 PM ^
My pool cue extender is here! No more relying on the house bridge! (For golf-types, this is like getting that awesome sand wedge you've been dreaming on.)
December 30th, 2023 at 4:20 PM ^
Who dreams of getting a wedgie?
December 30th, 2023 at 4:23 PM ^
Who's giving it? If it's Halle Berry, we can go there.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
What if it's Jada Pinkett?
December 30th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
As an aside.. I absolutely hate that FSU chant…
And, did the Seminoles get a form of special dispensation to keep their mascot?
December 30th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
They did. The actual Seminole tribe.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:33 PM ^
They pay off the Seminole Tribe of Florida. They also offer a scholarship to a Seminole student to be the mascot. So a real Seminole now rides Osceola and plants the spear which wasn't the case for a long time. They redid the Seminole head because the previous profile belonged, I believe, to a former (non-Seminole) music director. In fairness to the program, Seminoles apparently love the mascot and root for the team in significant numbers, though it does give fans a license to do offensive redface get-ups along with the chop and the chant.

Is it still offensive if the people whom its supposed to offend aren't offended ?
December 30th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Why did so many FSU players opt out of the Orange Bowl, against Georgia no less?
This was their perfect chance to prove their point against the top of the SEC. It's not like this is some minor bowl on a Tuesday night.
Are they all that mercenary?
December 30th, 2023 at 4:26 PM ^
Of course they are...most of them were transfers in to go to the NFL.
Coleman showed out, he's gone. Verse was at a FCS school, he showed out, he's gone.
They weren't there for FSU.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Heartbreak, I think. Didn't Norvell say they were struggling with the fallout a couple weeks after?
You get heartbreak like that, then a couple guys opt out, and it snowballs.
One of the reasons bowls have become kind of random in outcome is because the paradigm has changed with programs and their mental states. You have guys transferring now and opting out to go pro. It's not like in the Lloyd era where it became a normal part of the end of the season with whomever was on the team when the season finished.
I don't know that there's any one scenario that explains how every team responds. OSU had a couple key transfers but just one opt-out... and yet their offense collapsed. Auburn had a heartbreaking loss to their archrival, but looked really good... and they look like trash today against a team whose long-time all-conference QB isn't playing.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
I feel for the guys that stayed and are playing for FSU right now, but those dudes so far are playing hard
December 30th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
How did Bama almost lose to this Auburn team?
December 30th, 2023 at 4:25 PM ^
Let's find out!
December 30th, 2023 at 4:34 PM ^
It's like msu vs us, it's auburns superbowl
December 30th, 2023 at 4:40 PM ^
How in the hell do you people not understand that sometimes teams just don't show up for games.
Especially against a lesser opponent who you're expected to curb stomp
December 30th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
Exactly. What scares me the most about Alabama is that they've beat teams with really good offenses and they weren't shootouts. The Auburn game is an outlier with no real meaning
December 31st, 2023 at 12:15 AM ^
I just don't understand this argument. The Iron Bowl is one of the biggest rivalries in all of college sports. Auburn upset Alabama at Jordan Hare in 2017 & 2019, and very upset Alabama in 2021 (it took a 97-yard TD drive from Chase Young for Bama to escape), You really think that Alabama (with its BCS hopes on the line) was not taking the game seriously????
December 30th, 2023 at 4:25 PM ^
FSU play calling not helping their cause at all.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:36 PM ^
The quarterback is a true freshman, I believe.
December 30th, 2023 at 5:40 PM ^
And Georgia's is balls-out inspired fun.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
I'll be honest. FSU held UGA off the scoreboard longer than I thought they would.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
OK, the Orange Bowl is over.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:37 PM ^
Who produces more offense: FSU today, or OSU yesterday?
