The dude's going to be a great father.
Congrats Mikey!

Just *Mike
Pronounced "Mikey."
December 10th, 2023 at 11:12 PM ^
Did not know that. Thanks.
December 11th, 2023 at 3:02 PM ^
“Mike Sainristil is Your Daddy.”
Fixed the title for you. You’re welcome.
December 10th, 2023 at 10:13 PM ^
Congratulations to the both of them. When I was his age, I was not in the position to have a family with no money like NIL and the like.
December 10th, 2023 at 10:13 PM ^
Is it safe for him to play whilst pregnant?!?
Good for him; people tell me having children is a great source of joy.
December 11th, 2023 at 5:17 AM ^
children are a blessing from the Lord. like arrows in the hand of the mighty warrior, so are the children of one's youth. happy is the man whose quiver is full. he shall not be afraid, but shall speak with the enemies at the gate.

It can be a mixed bag at times.
I have two at home, and there are definitely days where they make you want to pull your hair out and you tell yourself "Just X more years until they go to college, just X more years until they go to college," but in my experience those moments are far outweighed by the joy they bring.
Far and away the hardest job I've ever had is being a parent. But its a great job.
December 11th, 2023 at 7:34 AM ^
I hate to spill the beans but you will still be pulling your hair out after they go to college if you have any left by then.
December 11th, 2023 at 7:41 AM ^
we had 6 of ours home yesterday, including two that are in college or have graduated, and it was wonderful.
we live in a time where people apply for debt, which is a curse, yet do everything in their power to not have children, which (or 'who', depending your grammar leanings) are a blessing.
seems backwards.

I won't proclaim to know everyone's situation, and for my wife and I having kids was absolutely the right decision, but I'm sure there are plenty out there who for them, not having them is the right decision for them. Could be a wide variety of reasons, and those reasons probably won't ever be our business.
I know we're getting into a whole other discussion that probably isn't appropriate for this forum, but I don't think everyone is meant to have kids. And that's okay. Some people just flat out do not want the responsibility and have a hard enough time taking care of themselves and their significant other.
December 11th, 2023 at 10:02 AM ^
I think it's simpler than that - my wife and I chose to have kids and we were fortunate that we were able to have three au natural. Some can't biologically, some struggle mightily, and some just don't want them; that is totally fine by me, although I do sympathize with those who struggle. We are very happy and fortunate to have our family of five plus a doggo.
Someone else's family situation is none of my business and is a waste of time for me to consider. For Mike and his girlfriend, I hope it brings them great joy. Good people tend to be good parents, so I am sure Mike will be a good dad (don't know about gf but I would put money on Mike having a solid partner). FTR, I don't know Mike either except for seeing his actions on and off the field.
I hope his girlfriend has an uneventful pregnancy and labor. Cheers to the three of them.

Ohh don't worry I know. What I always tell my wife is that the stress these kids bring will never go away. The stress just gets re-allocated into different areas.
December 10th, 2023 at 10:15 PM ^
I'm selfishly hoping for a boy.
December 10th, 2023 at 10:17 PM ^

Mike Sainristill Jr recruiting class of 2042 🙂

A Sainristil daughter could be wed to a Glasgow son, thereby producing the Kwisatz Haderach
just sayin’
December 10th, 2023 at 10:24 PM ^
Tom Brady's son and a Charles Woodson daughter would be the chosen one without a doubt.

There's a tuck joke in there somewhere but I'm not touching it.

So what you’re telling me is we might have Mike Sainristil Jr on the team in 2043? :)
Congrats Mikey!

Wow! That’s wonderful. Congratulations to them, and wishing them the best of luck.
December 10th, 2023 at 10:35 PM ^
Good for him. I can say from experience that it's a lot easier to chase a kid around at that age than later in life.
December 11th, 2023 at 4:56 AM ^
You'll still be chasing a kid around - your grandchild.

It's his second child--he's already Ohio's daddy.
Congrats to the...truly lovely couple.

Reminds me of the birth announcement of Erick All’s child. Kid was born exactly 9 months (to the day) after the victory over Ohio State.
Congrats to Mikey!

Congrats to the couple and looking forward to birth of "little number zero"....

Dear MGoBoard,
It's pronounced "Mikey," but spelled Mike.
Jake Ruddock hopes you figure this out before it's too late.

Guys gonna ball out for some NFL team. Someone is getting rich without even really knowing it
December 10th, 2023 at 11:00 PM ^
Congratulations to him and his girlfriend. Minor nitpick: I don't mind if they say "he and his girlfriend are expecting a child," or "his girlfriend is pregnant," but it bothers me when a couple says "WE are pregnant." I know, I know, language evolves, but I'm old and set in my ways.
December 10th, 2023 at 11:32 PM ^
Be more flexible, you'll last longer. I'm old, I don't care how they describe it, but I am 100% in favor of 2 young people approaching it together, as a, dare I say it; a Team.
December 11th, 2023 at 12:56 AM ^
For sure! I've had four kids myself. Again, not saying it's wrong, just a minor irritation.
December 11th, 2023 at 4:42 AM ^
…but it bothers me when a couple says "WE are pregnant."
I’ve had four kids myself.
I’m assuming you’re a mother of four, then?
December 11th, 2023 at 7:53 AM ^
Lol. Well played.
December 11th, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
I don't think it's traditional to say "we are pregnant" is just wrong. After all, only one of you has to actually carry and birth the kid, not to mention all of the body changes that come with it.
Definitely approach it together. Physically one person is doing all of the heavy lifting, and understanding that and acknowledging it is a pretty good start.

I feel much better having purchased an MDen #0 jersey now. It counts as an early baby shower gift!
