New AP Poll: OSU #2, Mich #3
Link to AP poll page here. OSU got 1 first place vote; Michigan got none.

Understandable, we looked pretty bad against Maryland. Lots of reasons for it though and I think Maryland played one of their best games. Michigan will play with a fire in their belly this week.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:45 PM ^
OSU trailed Maryland in the 3rd Q
November 19th, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
And we never trailed Maryland beyond the first FG.
Our tough games - Penn State and Maryland - were their tough games. We are facing those tough games now while they are facing MSU and Minnesota - teams we crushed. So, they "look better" at the moment, the way we looked better when we were facing lesser teams.
Henderson looks like he's "turned a corner" recently, but Drew Allar looked like he "turned a corner" too . . . until he faced the Michigan D.
Bad teams have a way of making merely good teams look like great teams.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:51 PM ^
But it was an easy schedule when we played those teams.
It's murderer's row when OSU plays them.
November 19th, 2023 at 9:32 PM ^
Our games vs Minnesota and MSU: 101-10 (Road games for us)
OSU vs same: 75-6 (Home games for OSU)
us vs PSU and Maryland- 55-39 (Road Games)
OSU vs same: 57-29 (Home Games)
not really a reason to drop us but I’m not mad.
their toughest game was at home and ours was on the road. I think ND is trash so PSU is the most common opponent.
On top of it the last two weeks we faced incredible adversity on the road in hostile territory. Now we get to go home and have some home cooking!
My take away is we are going to pound them.
November 19th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
Maryland led for 2 minutes.
November 19th, 2023 at 5:22 PM ^
OSU was tied at half, trailed in the 3rd, led by 3 in the 4th. These are the facts of the case, and they are undisputed.
November 19th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
gtfo of here with your silly facts
November 19th, 2023 at 3:00 PM ^
Exactly!!!
Gattis was probably on them (the Maryland offense) all week wanting to beat Michigan bad too. Maryland had a big effort on their part. Michigan responded and won, on the road.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:05 PM ^
Everyone wants to beat Michigan. Just read the Nebraska football blog prior to the game this year - and they really suck - thinking they would pound us.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:06 PM ^
This is all about timing. OSU just dominated Minnesota and Michigan State, teams Michigan destroyed earlier in the season. Michigan just had close games with Maryland and Penn State, teams OSU had close games with when Michigan was dominating the likes of Indiana and Nebraska.
I also enjoy the people saying Michigan can't throw the ball. These same people were saying Michigan couldn't run the ball 3 weeks ago.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
Unless it is 50/50 run pass and we win by 50 people will be unhappy. Even winning by 50, I'd like to see a little more run. (or was it pass?)
November 19th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Honestly, this is false. No one complained about Michigan's play calling after the MSU or Minnesota games. Why? Because the play calling was great.
If you do not think people are justified in questioning Moore's offensive play calling in the 2nd half against Maryland...then you are in the camp that thinks no fan can even raise questions, as long as Michigan got the win (no matter that total yardage, the point differential, yard per carry, etc., etc. all under-performed).
November 19th, 2023 at 2:10 PM ^
Good, now if we can get the line to move to make us a home dog, everything will be in place.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:20 PM ^
It’s not gonna move that much.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:40 PM ^
I'm thinking UM -3 to -4 at game time.......basically the home field points. The crowd really needs to bring it in this one
November 19th, 2023 at 2:59 PM ^
I will be doing my part!
Go Blue! #MI
November 19th, 2023 at 2:12 PM ^
win THE GAME and everything will take care of itself!
November 19th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Yup, that’s all that matters. Win out, national championship.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:13 PM ^
Seems like many are overreacting to osu pounding msu and Minnesota. It was just a few weeks ago when they were struggling against Rutgers and Wisconsin. Michigan has dealt with all the off the field crap and went on the road and beat a top 10 team two weeks ago. Yesterday was a bit discouraging, but considering the circumstances it was understandable.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:19 PM ^
Michigan looked very bad yesterday. If FSU did not lose their QB my guess is that we would be ranked out of the Top 4 in the playoff rankings. It doesn’t matter if they win next week but yesterday was ugly.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:22 PM ^
There is absolutely no way that Michigan's win on the road against Maryland would somehow lead to them dipping below a team that, at best, would have skunked an FCS program.
I despise that this site created BPONE or that it rears its head any time something doesn't go absolutely perfectly for Michigan.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:27 PM ^
I don’t have “BPONE.” We needed 15 yards on a total of 4 possessions yesterday to kick a field goal to ice it and couldn’t get it. Hopefully it was a one-off but they played really poorly.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:41 PM ^
This kind of post, which you can't even qualify a little, just doesn't cut it. The D and special teams played fantastically; midway through the third quarter they had 25 rushing yards. Agree that there were questions on offense. Let's hope that JJ is confident and healthy next weekend, and that his protection holds. With two fairly equal teams, it may come down to game plan. Or home field advantage!
November 19th, 2023 at 2:44 PM ^
Eye roll. I’m not saying yesterday was representative of the entire season or will be how they play next week, but yesterday was a shit show. So they are due for a bounce back.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:51 PM ^
Yesterday was an actual game. We're not used to those. Next Saturday we'll face another team that wants to win, too. Badly. Very badly. Who knows, I'm rooting for Michigan because that's my school. Those kids don't owe me anything, though. Not a damned thing.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:07 PM ^
This forum has lost its mind. I upvoted you as I agree with your take.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
Did you watch the game? On two of their scoring drives Tua's bro was dropping perfect passes to keep the chains moving. Nothing you could do on a few of those. Our play calling certainly left something to be desired. Especially throwing 3 straight times when we really needed to run out some clock. But overall the team didnt play no where near as bad as you are saying.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:25 PM ^
Doubling down. Nice. Eye roll.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:42 PM ^
I know you're a troll. I know this. But Maryland is bowl eligible. I just looked and it seems the majority is/can go to a bowl, but it's the ACC. Lots of mediocrity. FSU with Travis struggled with Boston College. Gun to your head, you taking Maryland or Boston College?
November 19th, 2023 at 2:48 PM ^
20-3 before UM lost interest and, as stated by the announcers multiple times during the broadcast, Terps had nothing to lose and it was their biggest chance for a breakthrough.
In my 50+ years of being a fan, UM has found new and interesting ways to lose such a game…yesterday they found a way to win it…1st time, 2 safeties, in at least the last 20 years. BPONE is dead. Let it die!
November 19th, 2023 at 4:34 PM ^
Exactly. It would have been 30-10 at halftime if JJ had not been picked off. The team was basically on the way to shutdown mode until that happened. it took a while to rekindle enough interest to put the game away.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:58 PM ^
I despise that this site created BPONE
Brian didn't invent that, he just gave it a name. This site wasn't a bunch of sunny optimists before he coined that term.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:37 PM ^
SP+ has Maryland essentially equal to Utah, Kentucky, and Duke. People on here are acting like we struggled against a bottom feeder yesterday.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:40 PM ^
They gave up 51 points to Penn State.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:50 PM ^
We beat Penn State last week, so I think the transitive property argument is a little weak
November 19th, 2023 at 3:17 PM ^
Thank you Cindy, transitive property doesn’t apply in football
November 19th, 2023 at 2:51 PM ^
The same Penn State we pantsed last weekend? On the road? In the most ridiculous of circumstances?
Troll
November 19th, 2023 at 3:01 PM ^
Sorry. Michigan looked great yesterday. Really crisp and precise with everything. I am sorry for speaking ill of their performance in the game, which was simply above reproach.
November 19th, 2023 at 3:32 PM ^
As cliche as Fox made it, it was definitely a Trap Game™️. And other factors have been in play.
November 19th, 2023 at 11:45 PM ^
The week before the Ohio State game, a win is a win. Knock everything you want about the show that was or was not put on for your personal enjoyment, you are wrong.
If we lose to Ohio State, you can be 100% certain the rest of this board will be right there with you in agony, picking apart every minute detail. Maryland is not worth it, the game before The Game is not worth it. Write about something else.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:52 PM ^
Did you watch the game? Penn St. scored 13 points in the last 9 minutes of the game like this:
- Taulia throws interception that PSU returns to Maryland 20. PSU FG.
- Maryland fumbles on their own 26. PSU FG
- Maryland backup QB throws interception. PSU ball on MD 12. TD
Right before this sequence of events, PSU scored a TD on a short field starting from the Maryland 41.
November 19th, 2023 at 4:29 PM ^
What I take from your chart is that.....USC has the 4th worst defense in the Power 5.
With USC's recruiting advantages, how is that even possible?
November 19th, 2023 at 4:46 PM ^
I think a big part of it stems from Lincoln Riley's offensive system. They are just never on the field very long. It's either score quickly or a 3 and out. The defense never has a chance to rest and regroup.
And I also think Riley just doesn't give a shit about defense.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:22 PM ^
They were tied to Maryland at home at halftime.
If there is no pick six in that game, it could have ended entirely different.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:23 PM ^
also,
Maryland managed 106 rushing yards against that defense. They only rushed for 15 against us.
I expect we are going to run all over them.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:39 PM ^
No, they have Williams and Egbuka back
November 19th, 2023 at 2:42 PM ^
Henderson? He's been out quite a bit this year. Stover is also back to 100%.
