It's too soon to answer your question.
He has plenty more games to call go forward. I will have an answer once he retires.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:18 PM ^
This is the correct answer. Long live Keith!

Whoa Nellie!!!

“The last time Brian Griese ran that far, his dad was chasing him with a stick!”
”That thump you just heard? That was Bo Schembechler fainting.”
November 18th, 2023 at 11:29 PM ^
The first one was Penn State in 1997 right?
What was the second one from?
November 19th, 2023 at 3:01 AM ^
The second was, I believe, the Woodson-to-Griese transcontinental at Wisconsin.
I thought the first was the Rose Bowl but can’t recall for certain.
November 19th, 2023 at 8:42 AM ^
Correct. That was probably the most jaw dropping moment from Judgment Day at Penn State. Griese takes off running, you think he's going out of bounds but he keeps running. Even PSU's defense was in shock. Two plays later, Griese hit Woodson for a wide open touchdown.
The Schembechler fainting quote was after Woodson threw the transcontinental pass back to Griese against Wisconsin. Lloyd pulled that play out once a season and it always worked.
Keith Jackson had sooooo many great quotes from the 97 championship season alone. Like after scoring against Notre Dame...
"Clarence Williams grandmother could have scored that one."
November 19th, 2023 at 3:00 AM ^
These were the two that immediately popped into my head.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:18 PM ^
The Desmond punt return, of course: "Good bye ... Hello, Heisman."
November 18th, 2023 at 11:46 PM ^
Iconic. Not debatable.
Dez just looks so much quicker and faster than everyone else.
November 19th, 2023 at 12:44 AM ^
Yep, "Hello Heisman!"
November 19th, 2023 at 12:55 AM ^
It was like it was choreographed, his call and Desmond's pose within an instant of each other.
November 19th, 2023 at 1:39 AM ^
"Look at that. Oh my. One man. Good-bye. Hello, Heisman!"
So spare yet so colorful. Absolute perfection.

The Magic Man!
November 19th, 2023 at 2:45 AM ^
literally the most correct answer
November 18th, 2023 at 11:18 PM ^
The music and lead in of him talking of the ghosts of Yost and Kipke etc. The Griese MVP call with Bob and Shay next to him.
November 19th, 2023 at 2:08 AM ^
15 minutes of Keith Jackson calling Michigan games with a tribute by Bo at the end
November 19th, 2023 at 8:31 AM ^
When I put that video together and posted it, the amount of views it got in the first day blew me away. Keith Jackson was that beloved.
I still love the times he made Bob Griese laugh. Like the game against Colorado ending on a Hail Mary for the 2nd time...thankfully this one falling incomplete....
"I don't think I could have handled that one."
November 19th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
Not sure where he went but I miss him!
November 18th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
The Michigan Wolverines are your 2023 National Champions. Suck it Ryan Day!
Hello Heisman
I’m setting next to his daddy
November 19th, 2023 at 12:14 AM ^
That one is funny. They were talking up how great the punter is and then how great the punt is, then Woodson takes it to the house.
November 19th, 2023 at 6:51 AM ^
One of my favorite parts of Woodson’s return is the comically ineffectual attempt at a diving tackle by OSU’s #46 just before Charles reaches the endzone.

The Big House was never louder Than that moment.
this Saturday could beat that

To the great ones already mentioned, I'll add:
The MVP in today's ball game -- ahhhh.... you wanna know who it is? I'm standing alongside his proud daddy. Quarterback Brian Griese, of Michigan.

You wanna cry, you go ahead. I'll hold you up.

Because it’s a Michigan blog, I’ll correct you — it’s whet, not wet.
Because it’s Keith Jackson, I’ll upvote you anyway. :)

You are entirely correct, and your correction shows class.

Whenever he said "The Big House" for the first time.
November 19th, 2023 at 1:23 AM ^
It's not a playcall, but when Keith was in the booth with Bob Griese, when we won the '98 Rose Bowl, and Brian won MVP. Bob started to tear up on air, and Keith told him something along the lines of 'you don't have to say anything Bob, just take it all in.' I can't rewatch that without having a box of tissues handy.
November 19th, 2023 at 1:26 AM ^
It was on a day like this, at a place like this where I first met Walter Mitty, that purveyor of those golden moments that last a lifetime in college football. Of course it might last longer, if it happened in a game between the buckeyes and the wolverines. You're in for quite a day folks

November 19th, 2023 at 7:38 AM ^
30 years later, it is shown every football Saturday
November 19th, 2023 at 7:34 AM ^
Everything said here already... He was one of the greats because he was genuine and he genuinely loved the game.
Honestly, I miss just some of the more basic things he'd say including Whoa Nelly! and I still laugh remembering him call the harvest moon a "possum-huntin moon". Who does that on national television with absolute sincerity? Keith Jackson.
November 19th, 2023 at 7:48 AM ^
we needed the game with Brian and Griese’s dad…
“wanna know the MVP of the Rose Bowl? I’m sitting next to his daddy”
November 19th, 2023 at 8:31 AM ^
The blowhards calling games today cannot hold a candle to Keith Jackson. They don't even come close. The standards have gotten so low that anyone even trying to call something like Keith wouldn't even be considered for the top games because they're not bombastic enough.
Just fucking beat Ohio St.

My fave was the 98 Rose Bowl…when he was about to spill who won the MVP, “I’ll give you a hint, I’m standing next to his daddy”…got a little dusty
