You'll be shocked to learn that two of them are from Penn State
November 10th, 2023 at 4:45 PM ^
There are 4 members. The other 2 are from OSU and Northwestern
November 10th, 2023 at 4:46 PM ^
That seems fair.
November 10th, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
How can representatives from OSU and PSU ( both of whom stand to benefit by hitting Michigan with suspensions right before their games ) not recuse themselves. Seems like a huge conflict of interest.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:35 PM ^
This is such a huge conflict that you almost think the Big Ten did it this way specifically to make it easier to shoot down. But at least Pettiti won't have to hear from Bielema, Schiano and Walters anymore.
Also Pettiti is done. Either Michigan will get him fired directly, or he will succeed in destroying the season for Michigan and then his value to the rest of the league will be nil. Once his value has been used up, the league will run him off in faux rage over weakening the conference. He can't be allowed to stay lest he may be convinced to come after one of them next.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:54 PM ^
Or Michigan will leave the conference.
November 10th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
The Northwestern clown should resign so that a sparty can fill it and they can change their name to a more appropriate title, "the Fuck Michigan Executive Committee"
November 10th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
That’s insane.
November 10th, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
Source?

You could google it?

the Big Ten NETWORK Executive team in not equal the Big Ten Conference Joint Group Executive Committee (JGEC)
November 10th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
LOL knock out
November 10th, 2023 at 5:03 PM ^
This is a failed attempt at snark, Comrade, given that the Big Ten Network Executive Team is not the same thing as the Big Ten Joint Group Executive Committee. Try again.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:36 PM ^
That ain’t it dumb fuck.

Jim Tweeted this almost 9 years ago. Still relevant today, especially today.

Thought of the day - As my esteemed associate and Friend The Great Frank Gore has taught me & tells me "These haters can't hold me back"

And as 21st century poet David Cone once wrote:
"If they haters, they ain't hatin'...then you're doing something wrong."

Note that the Commissioner's statement didn't say that the decision of the committee was unanimous. Presumably, therefore, it wasn't. Thank you, Northwestern.
November 10th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
"Due process".
This may be the single greatest mistep by any Big Ten commissioner ever.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:00 PM ^
What did you expect from a giant dingleberry?
November 10th, 2023 at 5:14 PM ^
Spoken like a head exiting from the entrails of a toilet.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:15 PM ^
Easiest way to take quick bath.
November 10th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
How convenient that the team that benefits most from this decision had two of the four people making the decision on the committee. Maybe there should be a rule limiting participation to no more than one member from any school?
November 10th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
I would say three of the four people. OSU is a B1G beneficiary as well.
November 10th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
Yeah... how the hell can any school have 2 members on a given committee? And more broadly, any committee authorized to grant this much power to a single executive should include representation from every member school. What kind of shit show are they running over there? {Rhetorical - we already know}
November 10th, 2023 at 5:06 PM ^
Could the fact that osu and osu hold 3 of 4 seats give Michigan even more legal ammo on a few fronts. Favoritism. Selective enforcement. Due process. Competitive advantage.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:15 PM ^
That committee membership was of a few years ago. But, if the committee stands has representatives from PSU, Maryland or OSU and those representatives didn't recuse themselves because of a conflict of interest, then that seems to be a big issue. The conflict of interest obviously stems from OSU, PSU and Maryland would benefit directly from the committee's actions vis-a-vis the Michigan suspension.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
This is like having the front office of the Jets decide on deflate gate. Ridiculous.
November 10th, 2023 at 5:58 PM ^
What's the difference. Literally the entire conference is against Harbaugh and Michigan. They could grab any 1,000 random people from the conference and get a unanimous decision on this.
November 10th, 2023 at 6:35 PM ^
I honestly don’t see how Michigan can remain in the conference after this.
Grant of Rights or not competition depends upon respect. That no longer exists. Fellow conference members ganging up to actively trying to cripple another member’s season is a violation of the compact that formed the conference.
Leave and sue for grant of rights back.

Has anyone been able to confirm who the four people are, the schools they represent, and how they get appointed/chosen? If they voted and approved why aren’t their names and affiliations known for transparency and all. I’ve used some various searching capabilities and the people I could find info for is outdated. Kind of like they’ve stripped their website of their existence.
