Charles Woodson Momentarily Enters the Recruiting World
In the quest to try and land Aaron Scott(https://twitter.com/CharlesWoodson/status/1673476714893131777?s=20), Charles Woodson tweeted this last night:
Scott is the #1 CB on Michigan's board and they are fighting in-state OSU for his commitment, which is set for one of the two schools in July. In response, Braxton Miller, Ted Ginn Jr. and Troy Smith all tweeted at Scott.
This is the first time that I recall Woodson recruiting in some capacity for Michigan on social media. Scott would be a big win for Michigan, hopefully it helps!
o state w their dated-ass 90s logo 🤣
dEveLoPeD hErE
I know their current logo looks 90s, but I am also always annoyed when recruits or anyone else uses the old-ass Michigan logo with the font across the M. Looks like dogshit.
I hate that variant
blame seo for that one - if you search "michigan logo" on google images it's the second one to pop up, and for out of state recruits, the split M that says "MICHIGAN" on it probably catches the eye before the block M
Unpopular opinion: maybe it’s nostalgic for me since I was born in the 90s or I just like the vintage look, but I’m a big fan of the split M.
Why are the three dudes smelling their fingers?
Full disclosure - I'm old and don't get 80% of anything the kids do. My 17 year old calls me Slime and says its a complement.
Merp
Who are you going to believe? The Heisman winning Hall of Famer or the failed buckeyes?
Go Blue!
This is what I was thinking too. One of these things is not like the other.
You forgot to add National and Super Bowl Champion!!!
I doubt kids would even know/care about who any of those OSU players are. At least Charles Woodson is a legend and most players know his name
Braxton Miller is from the same city, so he might have some influence.
You can choose to believe your own eyes...
This is how OSU defines "off-coverage".
By the way, I counted Cornelius Johnson running freely into the OSU endzone on 4 different TDs - his two TDs and the Don's two TDs.
Ha, I didn't realize OSU sold out the rights to name their field
Why is Scott tweeting those pics from Orlando? They take him to Universal Studios Florida or something?
He's not...it's Woodson who is in Orlando.
What are three scrubs who had awful careers in the NFL competing against a hall of famer, for 100, Bob.
Who are three people who've never been in Cliff Clavin's kitchen.
Best Cheers episode ever!
Get Charles the Great that kid’s phone number!
In response, Braxton Miller, Ted Ginn Jr. and Troy Smith all tweeted at Scott.
Lol OSU is clearly scared. Not trying to get too optimistic, but Scott coming out of this weekend and not committing is making me hopeful
Also, am I the only one who think OSU's visit photos look awful? They all look low effort and the varsity jacket ones look like a cheesy rap album from the early 2000s
I was optimistic until Scott posting that OSU stuff. Unless he is trolling them, I doubt he would tweet pro OSU things right now. Oof..
Yep, doesn't seem like a good sign he's doing that now.
When he posted(and deleted) all his Michigan visit pictures on Friday, my first thought is that it was essentially him saying thanks to Michigan in advance to him committing to OSU. Maybe he's doing that here coming off his visit to Columbus, who knows.
Every recruit wears the gear of the school they are visiting on their respective trip.
The fact that Scott was posting tweets wearing UM gear WHILE on an OSU visit is more telling imon,
I think he knows that development and culture is superior at UM rn, specifically for the DB positions, but given the difficulty of pulling Ohio recruits out of that Columbus trash cult, I'd still leave it at 50-50.
Well, if he goes to OSU and he can't immediately improve the OSU defense, then he might end up playing for a different coach. Losing three in a row to Michigan is the kind of thing that gets OSU coaches canned.
But if you go into his likes, he has a lot of Michigan stuff with other recruits
"if you go into his likes..."
No thanks, Stalker. /s (maybe lol)
It seems pretty normal that you tweet some stuff regarding any school you visit.
Depending on the content of the tweet obviously but promotional photos of your visit seems pretty normal.
It's not abnormal for recruits to post pictures from their latest visit
He's posting stuff from his most recent visit...of Course. Would be odd if he didn't. Its the age of social media so I imagine ALL recruits want to be seen in as many of these photos as possible. Gell all the LIKES, comments and gen up debate!!! Also, can't hurt with NIL down the line.
Sam Webb already said that he knew Scott wasn’t going to commit this weekend, that Scott had stated as such. Him not committing doesn’t mean much.
Woah woah woah. Let's hold on with that rationality and logic horse shit.
Yeah, I've read on several sites that he enjoys the recruiting process. I think it comes down to an OSU-UM battle with UM winning out.
A great way to recruit these players is to beat OSU this year. Great things happen when Michigan beats OSU.
Beating Ohio State doesn't make great things happen, beating Ohio State IS the great thing! WOOOOOOO!
Also, Aaron Scott will be gone long before the Game, one way or the other.
It's becoming less clear that extreme on the field success against OSU and virtually everyone else doesn't necessarily mean we can overcome the direct recruiting inducement problem (I don't say "NIL", cause we do that). I had thought this year was a major test case, and the results are mixed.
Somehow this results in a 5-year postseason ban for Michigan.
Sadly the first thing I thought is this is something the NCAA would actually try to sanction.
Beat Ohio State.
Why did I get a sensitive content warning on woodsons tweet?
Not everyone can handle the glory that is Charles Woodson, there should be warnings
it's like staring into an eclipse, or watching a greatest-goals compilation for pavel datsyuk. beautiful, but it'll fry your eyeballs.
One of my favorite athletes!
Why did I get a sensitive content warning on woodsons tweet?
Obviously they thought you were a Buckeye.
Is this the same "Charles Woodson" who was from Ohio and played for a few games under Coach Carr?
I heard about him - and, it looks like it was a confusing time. He seemed to have played both offense and defense - and, lol, even some special teams. Then - just before winning the National Championship - it looks like he won something called the Heisman Trophy (is that similar to a participation kind of thing?).
After being selected fourth overall in the NFL Draft - he spent the next 18 years working on Sundays. A group of people noted him as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year - and, put him on an "All Decade" team.
Whoa, it looks like Charles is another Ohio born player who had talent, developed at Michigan, and had a great NFL career. And, it appears he is representative of the "40 year plan" that Michigan's staff positions - with a productive career after his playing days concluded.
Hopefully, he'll be in the Fox booth at Michigan Stadium on November 25th this season.
Go Blue!
This is a serious question... how the HECK do you type all that and leave out PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME ?
